A Hero Arts Retailer

You’re truly…

Hello all! I’m here with another card for our anything goes challenge. Today I used the color layering Peacock set, but only used one layer of the image. Was hoping to show another possible way to use the set for those who may not like to do all the layers. Just because they are all there doesn’t mean you have to use them all! ūüėČ

you're truly

I started by stamping the top layer of the peacock multiple times in a diagonal and the trimmed the edges. Then I grabbed some Distress Oxide inks to ink the areas that would show under my panel and spritzed it with water. While that dried for a bit I  added some Wink of Stella to my peacocks. The sentiment is stamped and embossed on a scrap of black card stock that was trimmed down to a small strip. To add a little pizzazz to the strip I stamped and die cut a swirl from the set and added some Nuvo dots.

Here is a look at the shimmer on the peacocks!

you're truly shimmer

Thanks for stopping by as always! have a great day.

Cherish

Hi everyone!¬†Leslie¬†here to share an a2z Scrapbooking DT inspiration project with you today, a CAS anniversary card¬†using several Hero Arts products –¬†Vintage Travel Digital Kit, Love by Lia stamp set, Intense Black ink,¬†Paper Layering Eiffel Tower die¬†and Detail Black Embossing Powder.

I printed the Map overlay and the Postmark stamp in a 5.5″ square area along with the Paris stamp off to one side (all from the Vintage Travel Digital Kit) on white cardstock. I trimmed the map area to a size slightly smaller than my card base and matted it on black cardstock, then cut out the little Paris stamp and adhered it with dimensional foam at an angle over the postmark.

2017_07130013a

I cut a strip of red and white polkadot paper, matted it on black and adhered it across the bottom portion of the map panel. I stamped ‘cherish’ from the Love by Lia stamp set in Versamark and embossed it with the Detail Black Embossing Powder.¬†I adhered the Paper Layering Eiffel Tower die cut with dimensional foam and finished the front with varying sizes of Berry Red Crystal Drops. This was so much fun and I’m loving how it turned out!

Scrappy hugs!

Miss You!

Hey friends, I am back sharing another card using the Hero Arts set Woof!  This is such a fun set and has the cutest little dogs.

WoofNow this set does not say these are Dachshunds, but they sure look like Dachshunds to me. Perhaps because I have two little dottsies of my own and that is all I see! I colored the little pup in using Copic Colors E35 & E37. The heart was colored with R27.

The set has some great sentiments, but I thought this “miss you” sentiment said it all for this little critter.

He just looks so sad, but I am sure this card will put a smile on someone’s face. This set is available over at A2Zscrapbooking. ¬†If you spend $25 or more, you can use my discount code MonicaT15.

Colorful Reef with Hero Arts

Happy Sunday friends! ¬†Weekends go by so quickly around this household and we’re trying to cherish every last bit of summer before school starts which inspired me to use the BEAUTIFUL Hero Arts Reef Border and Frame Die.

I wanted to play with the latest Distress Oxide inks that are super easy to blend and give a gorgeous background to the Reef Border die.  The card below uses Distress Oxide inks in Broken China, Peacock Feathers and Faded Jeans, then sprinkled with water for more effect.

Hero Arts Reef Border Die

I loved the blue combination for traditional ocean hues, but I wanted to play with some sunset colors as well!

Hero Arts Reef Border die

I used Distress Oxide inks in Wild Honey, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral and then again sprinkled with water.

Hero Arts Reef Border Die

The Hero Arts Reef Border Die makes for quick cards that can be used for just about any occasion!

Hero Arts Flutterbies Digital Box card

Hi all.¬† It’s Anything Goes this month at our challenge.¬† So I’m here to show you a card in a box I made using the Digital kit called Flutterbies Printable PT006.¬† A2Z are the sole supplier of Hero Arts Digital kits and stamps.¬† I really like the way I can choose the size I print my images at.

I started by sizing my digital stamp in a Word document and then copying the size so I had 6 images.  I used some Canson XL water colour paper and printed out my sheet.  I then used some watercolour paint to make lots of colourful butterflies.   I also printed one at slightly butterfly as well and water coloured.   I fussy cut all the butterflies and made my card in a box.   I used some patterned paper by Craftworks which looks like watercolour.  I added a little bit of trellis die on my back panel and added the larger butterfly.   For my front sentiment I used another Hero Art Digital kit РSay it in Pieces.  I took two of the sentiments Рmade a circle in Word and coloured it green and added the sentiments.  Added a teeny punched butterfly.  My green leaves are a Hero Arts Fancy Die Spring Fling (Discontinued)

Hero Arts Tags and Destinations

I’ve always liked the Hero Arts Tags dies. ¬†You can let your creative juices go. ¬†If you’ve never seen the National parks in the U.S., you really should. ¬†My family traveled in the summer to different natural places. ¬†Memories of the colored pools and geysers in Yellowstone will last the rest of my life. ¬†Incredible views and experiences. ¬†I used some Oxide distress inks here with a sentiment and a couple Destination wood stamps.

Have fun creating.

Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade and Broken China oxide inks spritzed with water.  Hero Arts sentiment out of stock.

Wilted Violet, Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China Oxide Inks spritzed with a homemade colored water.  Two very old cheap moon and clouds stamps were added.        Sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

Iced Spruce, Cracked Pistachio, Fired Brick and Fossilized Amber Oxide Inks were spritzed with water and an 1992 Stampin Up postmark added.  Buffalo colored with Copic marker W3 and trees colored with G03.  Sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

My samples are at A Bit of This and That.

Color Layering Goldfish We’re Here

Hi,

One of the fun things about Hero Arts Color Layering Stamps is that you could play with individual layer to obtain a different look. ¬†The Color Layering Goldfish have two layers. ¬†On today’s card I only used the detail one on my card. ¬†And I took some photos while making this card.

I started of with a strip of watercolor paper, I wet it completely and lay it on a cutting mat (could have done it on craft sheet but was too lazy to fish it out.  LOL  I let it dry slightly but still quite wet then dropped some water colors in places when I would stamp the goldfish.

After the watercolor panel dried, I stamped the top layer of the goldfishes trying out two different inks, Hero Arts Mid-tone Shadow РWet Cement and Ranger Archival РJet Black.  I like the version with the Wet Cement more, so I did the rest using that ink.  Next I added some extra watercolor in the areas where there is very little ink.

Next I stamped the base layer onto scrap paper, cut out and use it as a guide/template to draw the outline of the fishes.

Yes it was a big mistake not to get the matching die!  So advise to you, buy the matching die if you could!  Back to my card, next I cut the fishes out using scissors.

For the home of my fishes, I used a dark green pattern paper panel and stamped the seaweed from the Color Layering Goldfish set with Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Ink. ¬†I wanted to add more interest, so I used the detail layer of the waterlily leaf from the Color Layering Koi set to create an “under-water plant look alike”. ¬†I added the air bubbles from that same set as well.

For the sentiment, I composed using part of the sentiment from both Stamp & Cut Congrats and Stamp & Cut So Sorry. ¬†I stamped with Unicorn Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. ¬†Pssst I’ll let you in on a secret, I took the Clear embossing powder by mistake and only realized that is was clear after I heated it. ¬†OMG I don’t to start over!? ¬†Then I remember that the embossing is still sticky while it is hot, so I took out the real white embossing powder, heat up the stamped sentiment and quickly added the white EP on top. ¬†And heat again. ¬†Phew!! ¬†It worked!!

To add some shine (goldfish has shining scale right?), I added Stickles on the body of the goldfish.  And now for the grand finale.

I hope I have inspired you to play along our July challenge РAnything Goes.   Feel free to use your creative license to make something fun by mixing things up.

Hero Arts Purr CM131 Kitty cat card

Hero Arts Purr card

Hero Arts Purr tangled kitty card

Hi there!

Erica back on the blog today with a “purrfect” card for cat lovers. I think almost of us know at least one ‘crazy cat lady’, don’t we? I know several myself and I had the most amazing cat when I was a kid. He was such a big softie with a huge personality and I still miss him today, some 17 years after loosing him. He used to walk me to the school bus and wait for me when I got home. Almost all my school peers knew him from seeing him hanging around the bus stop and walking off with me. He really was so special and lovely. Pets have this amazing ability to take up so much space in your heart and still, there is always room for more, isn’t there? I can’t see myself ever not having a pet now, although I have had doggies since 2004.

Right, enough sentimental babbling now (although I could talk about my fur babies all day long) and let’s get down to crafting business!

I got the¬†Hero Arts Purr¬†stamp set out and decided to use my Zig markers for colouring these. Which meant also getting some Strathmore Bristol Vellum water colour card stock and MFT hybrid ink in Black Licorice out. This is my favourite combination when I use Zig markers as the card stock is smooth, the markers blend well and the ink doesn’t bleed.

As I always do when I have a new stamp set I stamped up almost all of the images and coloured away, happy as a kid in a candy store minus the sugar high! I didn’t have a card design in mind right away, I tend to wing it a lot and try different things before settling on an idea. It’s probably fair to say I’m a bit willy-nilly in my design process at times. Or most of the times actually. It’s is not very often that my finished card looks anything like what I meant it to at the beginning. I’m not sure this is a strength or a flaw.

Well, anyway, after I had coloured all my little kitty cats I used the coordinating frame cuts to cut them out. At this point I had a small herd of cats in different colours and shapes, they are all so cute but I picked out one that looks a bit mischievous as I had this idea to use sting on the card and make him look like he was all tussled up in it. The card came together relatively quickly after deciding this. A purple linen textured card base got chosen and I also picked out a Lawn Fawn plaid card stock (I used Lollipop ) which had a lot of purple in it to tie in the colour scheme.

To incorporate the string I also cut out a scalloped border and a hole in the middle using a Mama Elephant creative cut called All Prettied Up. To add some height and dimension to the card I used the same creative cuts to cut out some double sided foam and then I layered these directly onto each other. The string, which is just from a local shop where I live, has a little bit of silver in it which adds a nice little touch. I wrapped this around and around the scalloped edges and the hole to make a mess for my kitty to get tangled up in.

FullSizeRender 3

The great, and also annoying thing about this double sided foam is that it sticks. And not alway to the thing you meant it to stick to.. or straight either… Luckily I managed to save this card before it was totally messed up but I have not always been so fortunate in the past. Well, nothing says handmade as a wonky card, eh?

Once the crisis was averted, I added the kitty to the middle of the tangled string mess with a bit of foam tape to make him look like he’s really wrapped up in it and hovering in the air. Which cat owner hasn’t found their cat hanging from either blinds, curtains or cables at least once, right??

FullSizeRender

For the sentiment I used the one that says ‘you & me are purrfect together’ and I stamped this in black ink on a small white, stitched label that I had die cut using a Pretty Pink Posh die. You can find similar tag dies here . A small bow was added to the label before being adhered to the card to look like it is also tangled up in the string mess. The last touch I added was a few purple sequins in different sizes to the card base what shows through the die cut hole. They are almost perfectly colour matched to the card stock so it’s quite subtle but just enough to add some interest. I resisted the urge to add more sequins, which is no small feat as I love them! They are without a doubt my go-to embellishment.

Well, that’s it from me today but I hope I have inspired you to have some fun with this stamp set. It really is the cat’s pajamas and purrfect for cat lovers!
