Hero Arts – Color Layering Rooster

Hello everyone!

It’s Donna here  sharing with you another card.  This month’s challenge is “Getting to Know You.  If you would like to join in on the fun, you can link your project up here.  All you have to do is use any Hero Arts product which should be your favorite Hero Art Stamp Set, Ink, etc since this is “getting to know you” challenge and tell us why.

Here is my card, I am using the Hero Arts Color Layering Rooster.  If you have not tried these layering stamp sets, they are so easy to do.  The stamps sets come with suggested colors you can use, which makes it so easy!
Here is how I put my card together:
I had the perfect paper  to use with the rooster.  I used the Hero Arts Rectangle Infinity dies to cut my layers.  I used the suggested colors to stamp my rooster, all except the blue.  I find it easier to die cut the image out first and use the opposite piece to center my image to stamp.  I added my sentiment, added some foam tape and popped the rooster on the layered card.

If you like any of the products I used on my card, please stop over at the a2z Scrapbooking Esty store. You can also use the code “Donna15” to receive 15% off of a $25.00 order.

a2z Scrapbooking has a TwitterInstagram and Facebook pages. Follow us on these different social media outlets so you won’t miss out on any of the promotions!

I hope I have inspired you to join the challenge this month! You only have a few more hours before the challenge closes!  You will have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the store! One lucky winner will be announced on May 7th.

Good luck and please come back again soon!

Hero Arts CM131 Purr Cat’s Pajamas card

I had heard the expression “cat’s pajamas” before but I wasn’t sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing! I looked it up – according to google it means “an excellent person or thing”. So, I guess it’s a good thing, a nice compliment to pay someone. Keeping that in mind, I used this sentiment for my card.

I’m a cat person and love this stamp set. I was trying to think of ways to use this set to create a card. I started with a tri-square die to cut out the “windows” from a piece of kraft cardstock. To add a bit of interest, I used Cuttlebug’s Oxford embossing folder. On the cardbase, I lightly marked with a pencil the outlines of the “windows” and stamped three adorable kitties in the “windows”. I coloured them with Copics. To complete the card, I stamped the sentiment and punched it out using an oval punch. I used a scalloped oval punch to mat the sentiment and popped the sentiment up with dimensionals.

If you’re quick, there is still some time for you to join us at the current challenge at a2z Scrapbooking. Be sure that your focal image showcases a Hero Arts product.

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here with you. April is almost over and I want to finish my creative month using another color layering stamp, the Color Layering Butterflies by Hero Arts. This is a very unique set of stamps that you can use for all occasions. Let me show you my card:

I love to create CAS (or Clear and Simple cards) and with the Color Layering stamps this is a real passion because you can use a lot of color combos and different layers to create different types of combinations on your images. If you notice on my card, the small butterflies have only one image in common, the detailed layer, but the bases are totally different.  The set Color Layering Butterflies is composed by 10 different images that you can combine and integrate to obtain different looks.

The base of my card is Whisper White and I pasted a piece of decorated paper on the left border. Then I stamped the solid butterflies and the detailed images with three different colors of ink: Green Hills, Tide Pool and Orange Soda Shadow Ink Mid-Tone by Hero Arts. I only kept the body of the butterflies with a single color, Tangerine Bold Ink by Hero Arts – the same color that I used to create a splatter. The sentiment was stamped with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink.

If you like any of the products I used on my card, please stop over at the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store. You can use the code Martha15 to receive 15% off of a $25.00 order.

Watercolor butterfiles

Hello everyone, Monica here to share my last card for the April Challenge. Use you favorite Hero Arts products. For this card I kept with my theme of the embossing powders, I can’t seem to get enough of the pearl and black glitter!

butterfly watercolor 2

I started by inking the butterfly stamp with some Tombow markers and spritzing with water before stamping. Once I had all the butterflies stamped I sprayed the card with more water to get the color to drip a little down the card. After the water was dry I used the layer of the butterfly to emboss in the pearl powder. Then I added the sentiment embossed with the black sparkle powder.

I’m happy with how the card turned out even with the splatter of orange by the green!

Hero Arts Artistic Dahlia

Hi friends! This month we are celebrating “getting to know you”…well, really me! I’ve definitely been MIA but I’m back with this absolutely gorgeous flower, Artistic Dahlia from Hero Arts. I LOVE flowers AND stencils, so a match made in heaven!

Have you joined our challenge this month? If not, show us your creations HERE!

I stamped the image on Ranger water-color paper then colored with Copics and colored pencils, once complete, I outlined the entire image with a Sharpie.

The background was created with Wilted Violet Oxide Ink and Hero Arts Moss; I shifted the stencil just slightly before adding the green. Once complete, I spritzed the panel with glimmer mist and splattered on some watered down Ranger black enamel accents. The stencil is Crossing Waves from Hero Arts.

Hero Arts Artistic Dahlia So Lovely

Hi there, Angie here with a card using two of my favorite Hero Arts stamps!  I used the new Hero Arts Artistic Dahlia and colored it with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol, then fussy cut it before adding it to a striped background.  (There are matching dies available and they are really cool!)  The sentiment is from Hero Arts “Your So Lovely” stamp set, heat embossed with Hero Arts white embossing powder and cut with a scalloped rectangle die.  I popped it up for a little dimension.

I hope you will be able to enter the a2z scrapbooking “Use you Favorite Hero Arts” product Challenge for April and be eligible to win the $25 gift certificate.

A Butterfly Birthday with Hero Arts

Happy Sunday friends!  I pulled out a rainbow of Hero Arts Hybrid Inks (Strawberry, Tangerine, Dandelion, Green Apple, Aquatic and Orchid) and decided to play with the fun Hero Arts Origami Animals stamp set.  Rainbow is another favorite of mine which is perfect for this month’s challenge Getting To Know You.

Hero Arts Origami Butterflies

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Birthday Messages stamped with the newest Tsukineko Delicata ink in Black Shimmer.

To get the solid butterfly colored stamps I used the backside of the origami butterfly as seen below.

Then turned the stamp around for the details using Hero Arts Intense Black ink for a really crisp image.

Hero Arts Origami Butterfly

I mounted the panel on some Lawn Fawn patterned paper called Perfectly Plaid Rainbow and added some Nuvo Crystal drops in Ebony Black.  I really wanted a more irregular/splatter type look, but they tend to just make round dots no matter how hard you try!

Mahalo for stopping by!  Don’t forget to join our latest challenge for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the store!!

Hero Arts Water-Color Layering Koi

I am excited to share today’s card, because I am quite pleased with the results.  Let’s get right to it.

Instead of using all the layers of the Color Layering Koi, I used only two of the layers for two reasons.  First I wanted the base color to be the color of the water color paper which is a creamy white, second, I wanted to paint the colors to avoid the cookie cutter look.  🙂

My process:

  • Place Koi fish frame cut (Hero Arts Color Layering Koi Frame Cut) on watercolor paper upside down, trace the outline with pencil.
  • Wet the area with plain water, then drop/paint in corresponding colors in desired areas.  Let dry, stamp the second layer (outline and scale of the Color Layering Koi) with Wet Cement on one fish and Black on the other.  Stamp the last layer (eyes and lip) in Black.  Die cut.  Use marker to add whisker.  Note that the whisker is on the first layer which I skipped, I could have just omit it, but chose to manually add it back.
  • Stamp water lilies outline with Antique Linen on watercolor paper, paint the center with water colors.  Use a white coloring pencil and color the petals slightly.  Die cut using matching frame cut.
  • For the leaves, paint different shades of green on water color paper.  Let dry.  Stamp the vein in Peeled Paint, then the base layer in Old Paper.  Die cut using matching frame cut.
  • For the base panel, I went the whole piece of card stock ( Elizabeth Craft Design Soft Finish, 85lb) with plain water, then draw circles alternating between two different shades of blue and a bit of green.  Let dry.  Stamp waves in Old Paper and bubbles in Broken China.
  • Stamp ‘hello’ (Hero Arts Color Layering Orchid In a Pot) in Broken China.
  • Adhere base panel to card front, then adhere all the elements as shown.

Here’s a few photos taken during the process.

Here’s the “beauty shot”.

Hero Arts Poppies Sympathy card

Hi all.   I’m here to share another beautiful Poppies card with you.   Today I pulled out some Hero Arts Ink cubes to make a sympathy card.  I choose colours that would give a soft ethereal look

The use of the Soft Granite for the third layer added to the ethereal look.   The colours I used are listed in my supplies list below.   I have them all in cubes from different sets.  I added a thin line of gold pen around the outside of my panel and some splatters of watered down Gold Glitz ink.   The sentiment is from an older Hero Arts set (CL476 – Retired)

I also decorated an envelope to match
