Watercolor + Embossing = Pretty

Hello crafters!

I feel like it’s been forever since I had a post here! Today I decided to get some technique going for you guys.

Water coloring has been everywhere for months now but I’m just getting comfortable with it. I also really wanted to keep the cards one layer. There is just something about a one layer card that makes my heart smile. I hope it does for you too 🙂

Water coloring was such a hard sell for me because everything was so  . . well watered down (ha!). I love bright colors and water coloring seemed like the antithesis of my beloved bright colors. Then I found Inktense water color pencils and my world changed. It’s still water coloring but BOLDER and I love it! I stamped my flowers and embossed them in white before coloring. Everyone has their preferred method but I just color right on the paper and then use my paint brush to blend.

I did have to mask the flowers for this card and it was a bit time consuming because the petals don’t touch. With that said It was worth it. I love the bouquet I was able to create. I should note though this card is 4 x 5.25. I didn’t realize it was a smidge smaller until after I started stamping and by that time I was committed 🙂

Even though this one is softer it’s probably my favorite. Maybe because it’s different to have the color in the background?

I don’t know I just dig it and that’s enough for me 🙂

Hi guys! I’m Kelly. I’m married to a wonderful man named Craig and we have a gorgeous two year old son who is the light of my life. I can’t leave out our boxer/mastiff Molly who is my little one’s best friend. I’ve been cardmaking for about seven years and running my blog for around five. I am loving every minute of it! I’m a huge fan of clean and simple cards. I adore a good one layer card or building a scene. Also glitter, and lots of it
