A Hero Arts Retailer

Winter Holiday Houses

Hello everyone! Its Ria here today.

I have shared a card project previously using the Hero Arts Holiday Houses digi kit and this project share today will continue my love on using the kit.

Aside from the card, I also did a  tag using one of the houses and tree.

First off, I printed several houses and colored them with markers using Promarker. I also printed a card base with trees on them, these served as backdrop also for the homes later when I arranged them in the card.

I then fussy cut the homes and added details on, some white dots and small lines to mimic a snow.

I also added glitz by putting Wink of Stella clear glitter on the snow caps above the roof. I also added some silver sequins on top of the card for some added shine.

Christmas means festive so I also added silver ribbons below the card base. This just complements the silver glitter on top of the card.

For the tag, I printed one of the pattern paper in the kit then die cut that using the tag die.

I then added another bigger size tree that I colored with green marker and added a gem on top of the tree. The house is also colored with markers and I added some texture and shine to it too, this time with silver distress glitter.

I love the flexibility of using digi kits. I can re-size them to the size I want and colored them the way I want using markers. You can also use colored pencils but not watercolors. The water will react to the ink and will sure make the ink bleed during coloring.

Here are both projects I did.  I always have fun doing sets like this.

  1. Great card & tag! Love your coloring. Btw, some printers’ inks won’t bleed when you get them wet. I use an Epson Workforce 845, and have found that the paper will disintegrate from getting wet before the ink will bleed! I’m able to watercolor with no problem. I think this is a common quality of Epson inks. Anyway, thought I’d share that tidbit. Thanks for sharing your projects!

  2. WOW! Such a beautiful card and tag set, Ria! I love how you added so much dimension and sparkle, and your coloring is really beautiful! It looks like you are well on your way to getting your Christmas projects completed…Love them both!
