Hello Crafty Friends!
It’s Elizabeth here, I am so excited to be posting today:) I made a Christmas Layout featuring embossing, which is the first time I have done that on a layout!
My first step was practicing using the Hero Arts Merry Christmas Reindeer Stencil. I found that laying the stencil down on the Bazzill Swiss Dot and covering the letters using a Versamark pad did not work well. However it worked well for the reindeer. So instead I used a clear Ranger Emboss Pen for the lettering and touching up the legs and antlers of the reindeer. I then used Hero Arts Silver Embossing Powder with my Milwaukee Embossing Gun. The cardstock curled a bit, but running the embossing gun under the cardstock resolved the problem. I love how embossing on the swiss dots gave texture to the reindeer embossing.
I then embellished the title and the reindeer using Hero Arts Holly Gems.
Next I cut a piece of Hero Arts Gernadine Layering Paper 7′ x 11″. The BoBunny Blitzen paper is 3.5″ x 12″. I then framed the Pigeon Forges Incredible Christmas Place photos with Hero Arts Pine Layering Paper. The top photo is only glued on three sides to allow the journal tag to be pulled out.
All paper pieces are inked along the edges with Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy Distressed Ink.
I used Hero Arts Large Tag Die to cut a journal tag from Bo Bunny’s Blitzen to tuck in behind the top photo. The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby.
Next I made the Christmas tree embellishments. This was so much fun. I used a scrap piece of dark green paper and embossed Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Christmas Tree using Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. I then used the included Christmas Tree Die and cut out the trees. I used random Robin’s Nest Dew Drops and glued them on the trees using Glue Dots Mini Dots. For the stars I used the Stars from Hero Arts Summer Mixed Gemstones. These are retired, but star gems are easy to find:) I glued the back tree down and used Glue Dots Pop Dots to give the front trees dimension.
Here’s the final layout.
And to get you in the mood to do Christmas project here’s a video of the inside of The Incredible Christmas Place in Pigeon Forge, TN.
