Playing with Background Stamps

Hi everyone,

It’s Barb here today sharing a few cards I created with my new background stamp…The Capture Number Background! I love the chunky bold numbers, and thought it would be fun to play with it a few different ways! Here is my first card:

For this card, I used the stamp in the most traditional way. I heat embossed it in white, and blended my shadow inks to add a gradient of color, I love the chalkboard look on my cards, so I added my sentiment by stamping it in white on black cardstock, added a few smudges (for a realistic effect) and finally a hand drawn border.I mounted both panels on to a black card base, and placed a piece of white cardstock inside the card to write my message.

*TIP: Shadow inks and distress inks leave residue on heat embossed images. Instead of using water or a wet baby wipe to clean it off (doing so may warp the card), I use a small amount of alcohol on a q-tip to remove the ink. The q-tip also makes it easier to get into really small spaces!

For my second card, I thought it would be fun to use this background stamp to create an embellishment on a card. I inked white cardstock with Ruby Red ink, and die cut it with one of the heart frame cuts. I love an angled card with separate panels, and I think the sentiments from the Enjoy Today stamp set work perfectly for this design. I added a bit of twine and a DIY enamel dot, and my card was finished.
