A Hero Arts Retailer

Trying New Things

Hi everyone,

It’s Barb here today sharing a few cards I created while trying out some of my new Hero Arts goodies and a few new techniques.

First up is a card I created after watching THIS VIDEO by Jennifer McGuire using a technique called “Stamping and Colored Pencil Highlighting”. Here is my card:

Get Well Soon

I started by stamping the flowers in Fresh Peach Mid-Tone Shadow ink and the leaves in Mint Julep Mid-Tone Shadow ink. Then, as Jennifer shows in her video, I took my white pencil to add highlights and a dark red pencil to accentuate the shadows of the flowers. I used a dark green pencil for the shadows on the leaves. Here is a close-up:

I’ve been wanting to create a card with a Bokeh effect, and learned that there are several ways to go about it. I chose to use my Bubble Confetti Stencil for the first time, and ink the circles at a diagonal in three different shadow inks. To add to the effect, I placed a vellum panel over the top and a sentiment on a rectangle piece of black cardstock. Here is my card:

You Are Very Special

For my last card, I wanted to ink a yellow/orange circle to create the effect of the moon behind the owls. Generally, when I create an inked background, I use the entire panel, so this was a little different for me. I was also excited to use my new Lil’ Hoot dies. Here is my last card:

So Proud of You

After I masked and inked the moon, then stamping and die cutting the owls, I used two sentiments in this set…just because!

I hope my cards inspire you to step outside your comfort zone, try something new, and create a card for this month’s challenge…We would love to see what you’ve created! Our theme for this month is ‘Anything Goes’, and you may enter up to five times to be eligible to win a $25.00 Gift Certificate to the a2z Scrapbooking Store with each entry.
