When it’s time to wrap all those gifts you bought on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, why not try dressing up a plain white bag from the dollar store? It’s Chark here today to show you what I did with a small gift bag I found at the dollar store as a set of three. I broke out some of my favorite Hero Arts supplies to make a festive one-of-a-kind package.
To mimic a snowflake, I used the Flower Die to cut a blue cardstock and a white vellum snowflake and also used it to emboss a snowflake on the same blue cardstock. Then I applied Diamond Stickles to the vellum snowflake and let dry. I layered them and added some silver bling.
For the background, I used my favorite triangle die—I can tell you, it gets the most use out of all of my dies. I love it because it fits a card perfectly and you can get such different looks depending on the color of cardstock and the paper behind the die cut that you use. You can see I used silver foil cardstock for the triangle die.
Behind the die, I used heavy-duty watercolor paper and rubbed on three colors of gelatos, blending them with a wet brush. It was so easy to get bright colors, which is sometimes difficult to achieve with regular watercolor paints.
I tried adding a sentiment, but it seemed too busy, so I left it off. I really like how the gelatos reacted with water to give me such vibrant colors for the background of this bold die. I think the softness of the vellum and the openness of the die work well with a strong background.
Don’t forget—our challenge this month is to use watercolor in some way with your Hero Arts stamps, stencils or die cuts. Check it out here! You could win $25 to the a2z Scrapbooking store!
Hope you have a lot of time to get your wrapping finished—we’re having our big family Christmas on Sunday! At my house! Ack! Off to finish wrapping…and cleaning…and baking…see you next time!
