A Hero Arts Retailer

Doilies For Christmas

Hello Crafters!

It’s Kelly here and today we are going to be talking about how you can use your dies as stencils. I have several of Hero Art’s Fancy Dies and I love them all. They are a perfect size to stand alone or combined.

I wanted to get a little more out of my Floral Lace die and thought it would be pretty for Christmas.

After I cut my die I added some reposistional adhesive to the back. I laid it on top of a white card base and rubbed on some distress ink. In order to get a little more definition and add some shine I outlined the stencil with a silver gel pen. Once everything was dry I heat embossed my sentiment in black. You could make a whole card set like this using different colors and any sentiment! I love versatile designs!

For this card I did the same thing as above I just did it a lot more haha! I used blues, pinks, and purples to cover my whole background. The background was a little busy for me so I trimmed a white panel and adhered it on top. I added stardust stickles to the doily parts in the center to help them stand out and feel more like a focal point.

At this point you have a beautifully colored die cut . . .Can’t let that go to waste now can we?

I didn’t add anymore color at all. Isn’t it pretty? I originally had another plan so i taped all my inside pieces back in but it’s not necessary. In fact you can’t even tell I did it at all. i drew a black border around my card base, cut my die in half, and adhered them at the top and bottom. A healthy coat of stardust stickles really gives it a holiday feel.

I hope you have all kinds of ideas to use those dies as stencils 🙂 You could use some of those ideas to play along with our current monthly challenge. The theme is watercolor and you could win a $25.00 gift card to the store!!

 Thanks for visiting!

Hi guys! I’m Kelly. I’m married to a wonderful man named Craig and we have a gorgeous two year old son who is the light of my life. I can’t leave out our boxer/mastiff Molly who is my little one’s best friend. I’ve been cardmaking for about seven years and running my blog for around five. I am loving every minute of it! I’m a huge fan of clean and simple cards. I adore a good one layer card or building a scene. Also glitter, and lots of it
