I Love You to the Moon and Back

Hello Crafters!

It’s Kelly here with my first post of the new year. I’ll be honest this time of year is hard for me. It’s the time when my mojo runs lowest. I think it’s because I love all things brightly colored, flowers, butterflies, what have you. Here in Ohio the weather is anything but bright. In fact it’s 6 degree outside. I realize that it is much colder in other places but it is still awful.

Whenever I struggle with creating I go back to something that made it fun for me when I started. Sometimes it’s coloring other times it’s techniques. Whatever takes the pressure off me to create a completed card and allows me to just play. 🙂

Today’s card was created with a background that allowed me to play.

It’s a pretty simple watercolor background using distress inks. I tried the salt technique but I definitely did not get the look I was trying for. I mean it IS mottled but not near as interesting as how I saw it in my head.  Since that was a no-go I  flicked on some droplets of water mixed with Perfect Pearls to add some shimmery pieces parts. I also added a few little white gels pen dots.

The star adds more glittery goodness. Even though you can’t see it really well. Okay, you can’t see it at all but I promise it’s there. A simple sentiment banner, die cut, and twine pull the card together while letting the background be the star of the show.

Pretty simple card today 🙂

Before you head out don’t forget we have our current challenge going on. The theme is “New to You.” and we sure do hope you’ll join us!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi guys! I’m Kelly. I’m married to a wonderful man named Craig and we have a gorgeous two year old son who is the light of my life. I can’t leave out our boxer/mastiff Molly who is my little one’s best friend. I’ve been cardmaking for about seven years and running my blog for around five. I am loving every minute of it! I’m a huge fan of clean and simple cards. I adore a good one layer card or building a scene. Also glitter, and lots of it

  1. I think your card turned out beautifully, Kelly! I love how you picked up different shades of blue with this technique, and how much it sparkles! I may have to try this out…Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. It sure does not look simple to me Kelly – it is gorgeous…love the shades of blue and am thinking I would to try this in my signature “Purple” colors! Swoon………….

  3. lovely! I tend to want to hole up with a blanket, a cup of tea and some movies…I’m in Ohio too and it’s kinda icky today. I like how your card is gorgeous even though your mojo needs a kick in the pants. 🙂
