Hi, friends, it’s Chark today with a set of easy cork coasters I made for Valentine’s Day.
You can purchase cork coasters at the craft store or the dollar store. I decided to use heat embossing and stamping and it worked out fine and dandy. Just keep the heat embossing gun moving and don’t burn the cork! And, before you ask, I did NOT burn mine, but it did start to smell a little funny, so I moved the heat gun quickly. Crisis averted. Whew!
I used Staz-On Black ink (which is waterproof) and the fun Hero Arts Talk Bubble stamp below. After it dried, I added a heart from the Be Happy stamp set (any small heart will work) in Versamark embossing ink. I used white embossing powder but, of course, you could use red ink and clear powder or just red embossing powder if you want red hearts.
I made a matching card with the whole stamp, kraft layering paper and letter stamps. I used some plaid patterned paper and tilted everything to make it a little more fun.
I think this would make a good masculine gift (I didn’t use a bit of glitter!) and, if you want, use any small stamp for the speech bubbles. Stamps like stars, words, letters or anything that fits would work!
Hope you’re inspired to try some heat embossing or stamping on cork, it’s fun! Enter our February Challenge (embossing and Hero Arts) and try to win the $25 gift certificate to the a2z Scrapbooking Store. Free Craft Goodies? Yes, please!
