Hi, friends, it’s Chark today with a birthday card showing a hybrid of traditional card making with digital stamps. For the traditional card part, I started with the Numbers Background stencil. I think this is just perfect for birthdays, since it can be for any birthday from an 8th to a 63rd…all the numbers are represented. It would also make a great retirement card…or New Year’s card…or just any card for your favorite mathematician. And, yes, our family has a favorite mathematician (in the form of a math teacher brother-in-law) AND he just had a birthday AND this is a card that would work for a man. Yep, this is for him…you guessed!
If you look at the close-up, you’ll see I used silver embossing paste with the stencil on patterned paper. I also used a star stencil and cut out the medium star to pop above the digi sentiment. The Special Birthday digital set has some beautifully written sentiments that you can make any size, print out and then trim to fit. I added my favorite accent, Stickles, in Silver to highlight the star even more. The sequins are black and silver and I had to add a touch of color with the card base in blue.
I love how you can use a variety of different media with stencils, but there’s something really satisfying when using a paste…it’s smooth and thick and it’s so fun to pull off the stencils and see the nearly perfect design underneath. I say nearly perfect, because it’s me and perfection is more something other people do and what I never quite pull off. But I have fun and this card was no exception.
Hope you’ll join in our new April challenge and break out your Hero Arts products and your stencils and get to work. Read about the challenge here and link up to get entered for the $25 gift certificate to the store.
