Hi friends – welcome back to another COLOR IT IN card featuring these gorgeous Hero Arts succulents. Looks like one of them may be sold out in the store, but I spy the other one…AND they both have matching dies. SWOON – you know I’m kinda sorta addicted to dies, but let’s not dwell on that mmm…kkk….? 😀
I saw a video recently where the individual colored directly on watercolor paper with their distress crayons – I used Ranger water color paper which has a lot of texture so I wasn’t too fond of how that was looking. I then took to putting color on my craft mat and picking up with a brush and bit of water. The coolest things about these crayons is once they are dry, they are permanent, so you CANNOT blend the color that is dry. Hmmm…great learning experience! This was my first time to dig in and really play so I learned lots. You can layer on other colors after the initial colors are dry which is super fun for changing the colors or adding shading. I think using a different type of water color paper with less texture might work a little better. Regardless, I warriored on and determined to make it work (said in my best Tim Gunn voice – any other Project Runway peeps out there?).
I stamped the first two succulents, masked them off and then stamped the 3rd in the background. Nothing fancy after that, just water coloring and having fun. I mounted the main panel with fun foam on a neutral card base, added some washi tape and that’s it – pretty easy peasy.
Thanks for stopping by; hope you’ll take the time to join our COLOR IT IN challenge (link ’em up HERE), as always, there is a great prize up for grabs. AND if you’re shopping, be sure to use the code “MicheleG15” to receive 15% off your purchase! See you again soon, take care!
