One of the fun things about Hero Arts Color Layering Stamps is that you could play with individual layer to obtain a different look. The Color Layering Goldfish have two layers. On today’s card I only used the detail one on my card. And I took some photos while making this card.
I started of with a strip of watercolor paper, I wet it completely and lay it on a cutting mat (could have done it on craft sheet but was too lazy to fish it out. LOL I let it dry slightly but still quite wet then dropped some water colors in places when I would stamp the goldfish.
After the watercolor panel dried, I stamped the top layer of the goldfishes trying out two different inks, Hero Arts Mid-tone Shadow – Wet Cement and Ranger Archival – Jet Black. I like the version with the Wet Cement more, so I did the rest using that ink. Next I added some extra watercolor in the areas where there is very little ink.
Next I stamped the base layer onto scrap paper, cut out and use it as a guide/template to draw the outline of the fishes.
Yes it was a big mistake not to get the matching die! So advise to you, buy the matching die if you could! Back to my card, next I cut the fishes out using scissors.
For the home of my fishes, I used a dark green pattern paper panel and stamped the seaweed from the Color Layering Goldfish set with Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Ink. I wanted to add more interest, so I used the detail layer of the waterlily leaf from the Color Layering Koi set to create an “under-water plant look alike”. I added the air bubbles from that same set as well.
For the sentiment, I composed using part of the sentiment from both Stamp & Cut Congrats and Stamp & Cut So Sorry. I stamped with Unicorn Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Pssst I’ll let you in on a secret, I took the Clear embossing powder by mistake and only realized that is was clear after I heated it. OMG I don’t to start over!? Then I remember that the embossing is still sticky while it is hot, so I took out the real white embossing powder, heat up the stamped sentiment and quickly added the white EP on top. And heat again. Phew!! It worked!!
To add some shine (goldfish has shining scale right?), I added Stickles on the body of the goldfish. And now for the grand finale.
