I am so in love with this Dragonfly Fancy Die from Hero Arts—it’s detailed but not crazy detailed so you don’t have to baby it when you die cut it from your machine, and it looks good just about every way you try.
I’ve cut it from black paper, white cardstock, glitter paper, metallic paper, vellum, sticker paper, patterned paper, watercolor paper and more. It’s so versatile and you can get a lot of uses from it. I think it’s a beautiful way to do Sympathy, Thinking of You, Birthday and Hello cards. To make this dragonfly, I die cut the insect from gold metallic paper and used acetate (dripped with alcohol inks) as the wings.
For my cards, I’ve left off the sentiment to be stamped inside later. I think the gold glitter paste with the stencil and the dragonfly is all the card front needs. It’s pretty striking on its own. I love how the acetate/alcohol inks give it a stained glass look.
For this card, I die cut the dragonfly from black paper and used some Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors dripped onto watercolor paper for the wing backing. It’s definitely a different look, but still striking in a different way. The pool card and gold stenciling is the same as the first card.
A Blog Named Hero is back! They have a new challenge up and two prizes available…the theme is Use Your Fave Hero Arts and since this Dragonfly die is now officially my fave, I’m entering the top card with the gold dragonfly in the challenge. You can join me here.
