Love is in the air … with sunflowers from Hero Arts Bright Blossoms Download

I love sunflowers, there is just something wonderfully happy about them.  Where I live, they grow randomly beside the road and each stalk has many sunflowers, not just one per plant.  I often stop and pick them when I am driving home as they are just so gorgeous.  So, when I saw that the theme this month is about love, I know, most would go red with the roses, but I am more of a sunflower kind of gal.

So, I grabbed yet another digital download, I know, call me Digital Download Delia!  Ha!  This is the Hero Arts Digital Download Bright Blossoms PT003.  I was going to do the usual and colour them in by hand, but I changed and coloured them quickly in photoshop and then duplicated it up at different sizes and printed them out on photo paper and cut them out.  I wanted this design to be all about the sunflowers and it surely is.  So bright and so happy.  The circular frames are from Dusty Attic and I just painted them Nuvo Arts Blue Wax mousse paint and embellished them with a few little sparkles.  The little scrabble squares spelling out LOVE are just so darn cute.  I may add more to this page at a later date, but if I don’t press publish, I may be very late!

Brightblossom

Here is a wee pic of the layout, not much bling or things as I really let the flowers dominate the page.

Well, I sincerely hope your lives are much less chaotic than mine currently.  I am constantly amazed at how much busier my life is living on a farm.  I am not even sure if busy is the right word, but there certainly never seems to be enough hours in the day – most especially when a number of those hours must be spent having a nap some days.  Stay well and happy people, may your lives be full of love – with roses, sunflowers or awesome cuddles – or all three.

Smiles, Delia

My journey with Hero Arts European Adventure Digital Download DK041 continues ….

So, this post was meant for the 27th, however, we had no internet for 4 days and still cannot make a phone call and then had no power for a full day.  Now, if you wish to make your crafting journey a little more challenging than normal, may I recommend going powerless!!!  Very special – in no way at all!  Anyway, just one of the many pleasures of living in the country … I really do love it.  So, I have finally got a craft space happening for me to play in, but it is still quite chaotic and being setup and now in the midst of it all, we are going away for a few days.  Aaaaagh, how does one go from living in the city to the country and life gets busier??  That is just weird.  Anyway, I do manage to escape away to the craft room now and even got to stay up into the wee hours last night.

il_570xN.632090591_jnw9

Below is my second instalment for the month and I decided to continue to use the Hero Arts European Adventure Digital Download DK041 as on my last piece of art from the 17th of this month.  The first layout was France inspired, so this one I used other elements from the kit that were English inspired, the bus, coffee cup and tower.  My papers came from a country collection by DCWV and various other elements from all sorts of sources.  It is hard for me to share where all my various pieces of ephemera and elements come from as I always unpack them out of their original packaging and buy bits and pieces from everywhere.  I will openly admit that I am completely addicted to this awesome hobby!

My layout is below, once again, red, white and blue themed.

Jacobi-a2zJan2

My favourite part of this layout is the little cluster down the bottom with the rolled back area of paper.  See the close up below, plus a few more close ups of various parts of the layout.  I shall leave that with you all, stay happy and well, be kind to one another and always find a little bit of time in each day to be creative.

smiles, Delia

Going on an Adventure with Hero Arts European Adventure

So, not sure if the whole Christmas holiday vibe thing has moved on for most of you, but I was still in the holiday spirit and so out came the Hero Arts Digital File European Adventure DK041.  Full of all sorts of goodies, I decided to get out the Silhouette Cameo and use the files as digital cut files.  There are many images to choose from and some cut better than others.  However, the files are supplied as black and white and also in colour, so you can use them in a multitude of ways.

il_570xN.632090591_jnw9

I used a few of the files and was already going with a French type of theme to the layout and so you will see the word “Bonjour”, plus the use of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, coffee cup, lamp post and the adorable wooden seat at the bottom.  The papers come from a new Fabscraps collection soon to be released and I also used a few die cuts.  The ephemera and the stencil work that is actually behind the image now was also done with Fabscraps products that are all a part of the same set.  Such a little cutie  of a layout with the red and blue giving it the little bit of oomph it all needed to bring it together.

I finally have a desk and there is a huge amount of stuff on it and around it and it is all fairly chaotic, however I did manage to carve out a small space so I could get some work done.  Not only do I have alot to do, but I also have a desperate desire to be creative and so with moving and getting used to a whole new lifestyle out here on the farm has simply been busy and exhausting, but it is all finally coming together and a creative space evolving.  I would show you a pic of how chaotic it currently is, but best there is no record!!  Anyway, enjoy being creative all, thanks for stopping by and taking a look.  Here are a few more images just so you can see things a little closer if you so desire.  Take care of yourselves and those around you and I will be back later in the month with a little more of my creativity.  Smiles, Delia

Flutterby Layout using Hero Arts Digital Download Winged Friends

So, Happy New Year everybodeeeeee!  2018 is going to be a year of sorting out things I am sure, most especially for me.  I have just recently moved to a huge cattle farm in another state in Australia and it is a complete lifestyle change for this little black duck as I have come from the city.  But, I must say, I am loving every minute of it – well, apart from when I know a truckload of cattle are going off to be deadened, as a non beef eater, I just find it disturbingly sad hearing them mooooo.  I do not yet have a craft room and finding time to craft is extremely difficult, but I do believe that a craft room I will have within the next few weeks.

il_570xN.633202048_lswm

Okay, so I did manage to squeeze a quick layout in with lots of brown and pink toning, papers from Kaisercraft, but mostly decorated using the gorgeous butterflies and dragonflies in the Hero Arts Winged Friends Digital Download Set DK033.  I simply printed them out after resizing them in photoshop and then coloured them in using pencils and then fussy cut them.  I think they look so pretty as they cascade down my page.  I do believe that I am not quite finished this layout as it needs a bit more embellishing, but it is still looking wonderful with these Winged Friends at this stage.

Thanks so much to those at a2z scrapbooking who have helped cover my posts lately due to my completely chaotic life at the moment!  I am most grateful and very thankful.  Take care all, I hope 2017 wraps up well for you and that 2018 is full of all the good things that life can possibly bring your way.  Loads of love, Delia

Getting Funky with Hero Arts Brush and Splatter Digital Download DK103

So yes, a long time between posts for me as I have had a complete life change and gone from being a city chick to a completely clueless city chick.  Moved from the city to 8000 acres and loving every minute of it!  So, I have been playing with yet another digital download and this time it is the Hero Arts Brush and Splatter DK103 Digital Download.  I would of liked to do more, but that would be at the risk of running way too late to get this blog post up.

il_570xN.646453554_44d5

So, this is a very simple layout, utilising entirely the various elements in the kit.  The only thing I did in photoshop was apply some 3-D texture to the various elements that I used, plus I found a brick wall picture off the internet which I utilised in the background, but just faded it back a bit.  I promise my next blog post will be on time and much more enticing.

Take care all.

Getting Christmassy with Hero Arts “A Natural Christmas”

Yes, it is much too early for Christmas things!  However, I had to have a play with this wonderful digital cut file from Hero Arts ‘A Natural Christmas’ Instant Digital Download. I didn’t even get to utilise all the elements in one layout, but I used as many as I possibly could.  Now, I know the theme is watercolour and I promise you that it is there, it is just under everything else!  I know, I didn’t think it through very well in hindsight.

Jacobi-scrapbookpage-a2zoct8

It is always hard to show the amount of texture in the final layout, however, this one started with using some embossing paste over a snowflake stencil from KaiserCraft, but it is hard to see when flat.  Used some sprays to build up colour on this initial texture.  I loaded the Hero Arts cut file in and cut out all the elements at various sizes, painted them with white gesso in preparation for embossing or painting.  I also used part of a Hero Arts stamp set that I have to stamp some black vine type leaves in a circular pattern that you can only just see peaking out from behind everything now.

HeroArtsStamp

So, lots of embossing on the digital cut file pieces, using Hero Arts Embossing Powders, they sparkle so beautifully, I do love a bit of bling in my layouts!  A few flowers, some ephemera, all kept in the blue, white and silver toning and all done.  Always finished off using some art stones, mixed with various micro beads.  See some closeups below.  That is it for me this month, some of my awesome teammates are covering for me while I am busy doing some of those life things, but I will be back in December, maybe late November if possible.  We shall see.  Take care, be good, be kind, be awesome.  Until next time.

Still casing designers with Hero Arts Digi Download “A Natural Holiday”

Yes, Delia again, maybe ever so slightly late.  Super sorry, life just got a little busier than normal for me – life changing things even.  Okay, so, I have gone Christmassy, so early, I know!  I am not a big Christmas fan, never have been once I grew up I guess.  I love it if it is all about family and getting together and having fun, but if it is about presents, presents and more presents, then I am not so interested.

il_570xN.640981594_iam3

Hero Arts have some super digital downloads and quite a few for Christmas too and some for Halloween, that hopefully will be next month.  I used the Hero Arts Digital Download A Natural Holiday and cut out the elements on my Silhouette Cameo on some chipboard, white gessoed them and then I painted the big tree after cutting it in half with Nuvo wax pastes in blue and then the other elements I embossed mostly.  However, before I stuck things down I rummaged through my very small stash of Hero Arts stamps and I found this set and used the corner flourish with black Hero Arts ink and stamped it in a circular pattern around where the snowflake would sit – can’t see it anymore though!

IMG_9100

It is hard to see all the elements that went into this design and I struggle with that.  However, if I want to successfully case Ola, I need to get far better at layering and being comfortable with elements being covered up.  It just seems so wasteful if you cannot see and appreciate every element.  Is that just me?  There is a gorgeous snowflake that I cut out that comes from the Silhouette store, I painted this dark blue with Nuvo wax pastes and put some Hero Arts silver embossing powder on the edges outside of the photo area.  I then made my photo matt and adhered some sparkly white and silver fabric I had around it in a ripple effect, raised this area up on a few bits of cardboard and I was ready for ephemera.

This set of digital images is well designed for cutting, you need to be a bit delicate with the Merry Christmas words.  I actually chopped these apart as they come joined.  One difficulty I keep finding, is trying to find a good dark blue flower, but I found a few that sufficed and I guess I can always paint them! hehe  I always finish off my designs with a bit of bling and so I used some silver flat back pearly things, Finnabair art stones, glitter, microbeads and various little fingernail decorations and mix them all up with some gel and water and decorate.

All done for this month, take care all, be safe, I am off on my new life adventure, so not sure when I will be back, but hopefully late next month.

Smiles, Delia

Casing Ola again with Hero Arts Pretty Blossoms Digital Download

Hi again, I hope your September is going well. I am still in my infatuated with Ola Khomenok stage and so once again I chose another of her fabulous designs.  This is a link to her video tutorial.IMG_8501

So, here is my layout in response to our current ‘Case a Designer’ challenge this month.

Jacobi-scrapbookpage-a2zseptno2e

The papers are some new ones I just got under the DCWV brand that have some lovely foiled copper pages throughout which allows you to make some beautiful embellishments to use in your design.  I wanted lots of different types of embellishments in my layout to make up for some of the amazing elements Ola has to use.  My main frame is from Dusty Attic which I embossed using green, pink and copper embossing powders.  My use of the Pretty Blossoms Digital Download played a large part in my use of ephemera, I printed them out on white card and then painted them roughly with some cheap glitter paints as I only wanted the colour to be subtle, cut them out and then added pearls and sequins or whatever into the middles to make them have a little bit of bling.  I do love my bling.

il_570xN-1.633673409_6g90

There are quite a few die cut pieces, but these are from dies collected over time and removed from their packaging, but obviously you just use whatever you have in  your stash and bring it all together, building up layers and then finishing up with a few more bits of shiny stuff.  All done, seems so simple, but it honestly takes me about 3 days to do a layout like this.  I am quite sure that I spend the most time just staring it and wondering what to do, what to use, trying to remember everything I have in my stashes. But, if you watch Ola, she just throws it all together, so quickly and effortlessly.  Clearly I need to practice more …. ohhh, if I have toooooo.  Like, my pleasure, hehehe.  I have done a few of these layouts now, to see more of them, please visit Jacobi Creations or my Jacobi Creations Blog.

That’s all for now, have a lovely week.  Delia

Casing a Designer with Hero Arts Feathers

Happy September all.  Delia again, with another take on using digital files, while also keeping it in the theme of “Case a Designer”.  Well, I have a few favourite designers, but at the very, very top is a most amazing lady called Ola Khomenok, she is from the Ukraine and her work is amazing, lots of layers, colours and just bits and pieces.  She uses loads of stencils initially when building up her page and then she makes what she does look sooo easy and it truly does my head in.  I watch her videos over and over again and am always left in awe of her talent.  I am trying very hard to emulate her style at the moment which I call “collage style”, but it really is just “Ola style” as she has a truly beautiful talent that I am actually very jelly of.  Aaaagh, but it is always good to have those that push us to be better.  I am not sure what my issue is in my difficulty in trying to emulate her style, but I think it has a lot to do with wastage.  I am frugal when it comes to using my large collection of flowers, chipboard, ephemera and bits and pieces as it all costs lots of money and I just don’t want to waste it – even though it isn’t really wasting it.  I know that Ola is on some major design teams and would be showered with product and deservedly so, but that is not reality for most of us and so I am very considered when I put my layouts together.  I also am just not yet as talented as she!

Jacobi-scrapbookpage-a2zsept1

So, here is my layout using the Hero Arts Feather Digital Cut file, which has the most awesome feather shape ever!  Clearly that was my hero in the layout, but I had lots of fun with this layout.  Firstly, I put the feathers through my Silhouette machine and then out came the Nuvo wax pastes in various colours and painted them and then I foiled them and sealed the foil off.  May I say how tedious foiling is…. those fiddly things and me are not the greatest of friends.  I truly did hide behind the door when patience was handed out.  So, I had a bit of fun with colouring and things, building up the layers, adding more and more bits and pieces, until all finished.

That’s all from me until another week passes when I shall return with another ‘Case a Designer’ layout, which will probably be all about Ola.  She is my current challenge and I am not giving up until I can learn her skill and put it in my repertoire.  So, be kind, be good and enjoy your inner creative.  Please visit me at my website www.jacobicreations.com or my blog at jacobicreations.blogspot.com.au

Hero Arts Poetic Petals Digital Download – my final use, 3 of 3.

Hello again, Delia here, ok, so I did promise another way to use Hero Arts Poetic Petals PT004 Digital Download, this being my third and final layout, wait for it … it is a card!!  I am in no way a card maker, fiddly things and me are not really the best of mates.  However, I wanted to use this digital download one more way just to show how versatile digital stamps are to use.  I also did black and white as I felt like leaving them, but I did use a black pen and thicken them up and make longer stems on the flowers.  Can’t help myself, I know.

a2zpoeticpetalscard

So, here is a simple card from me to all of you, using the flowers, layered off the card surface.  I used an embossed paper panel behind the flowers of leaves, but you could use any embossing plate that you have in your stash.  Two bits of ribbon and on went the flowers.  I found a funny little stamp saying Thinking of You, embossed it in white, mounted that on some black card, just to lift it a bit.  I raised this on two pieces of tape so it sits nicely off the background raised above all else.  So simple, but so effective.  It is very bright white and beautiful, you know, in a black and white kind of way!

a2zpoeticpetalscard1

And that is it, all done, so if you are looking for value for money in scrapbooking, digital downloads are definitely a really viable alternative.  They are so versatile and you are only limited by your imagination on how much you can use them.  I almost wanted to create a large mural with them too.  I mean, can you imagine getting these images on a canvas and then painting that canvas? … would look pretty awesome.  Or you could just print them out like they are on a canvas and it would create such a pretty piece of artwork in your house.  See below for a quick example.  So many options.

PoeticPetalsMural

That’s it for me for this month, keep up your creativity, challenge yourself.  That is my most fave thing about this kind of creative genre – we all push our own selves to make each creation better than the last, to stretch our own creative selves.  Not because of a job or a promotion, just because.  I think that is great.  So be good, be kind, be generous and inspirational.  I have been trying out a new style, pushing my own self trying to understand the amazing work of many European designers and there great skill at layering and embellishing.  If you wish to see some of my recent work, please visit my website and check out my creative journey at www.jacobicreations.com or my blog at https://jacobicreations.blogspot.com.au
