One Die, Five Cards | Hero Arts Very Merry Tree

Hi Everyone, Kristina here with some more holiday inspiration for your card fiesta this year!
So I’ve been really diggin’ the Hero Arts Very Merry Tree die every since I got it, I can’t put it down!
This is my second post with this die, head over here for a some more traditional colors, this time I’m doing the non-traditional christmas colors thing 🙂

Card Set Handmade Hero Arts Very Merry Tree

I sat down, pulled out some Hero Arts Layering Papers (discontinued) and went to town making a 6 piece card set
using just one die, 4 sheets of paper, and some white card stock.
Unfortunately due to an occupational hazard one card didn’t survive.

Hero Arts Very Merry Tree Die

My original plan was just a set of cards using the darkest and lightest color in the paper layering set
one shade for the positive space and one for the negative, but as I got working it turned into so much more, and really didn’t take me all that long. I’ll walk you though each design.

Hero Arts Very Merry Tree

This was the first (and most difficult) card I did. I inlaid the light pool color into the dark pool.
What I didn’t realize was how tricky it would be. On my first (sacrificed) card, I adhered the main piece with the words down first then tried to piece the negative space inside. Because of how delicate and the scripty words are, they move and didn’t glue down in perfect alignment, so the pieces didn’t fit 😦
What I learned the 2nd time around was; run the light pool or inside layer through the die cut machine first and leave the pieces in the die. Add adhesive to the pieces that will be glued down while everything is still stuck in the die. Carefully flip the whole thing, die and all, over onto you card base. While that dies a little run your other color through the die machine. Remove your positive space piece, but keep your negative spaces for later! Now back on the card, carefully lift up the die and the postive space piece (save for later) and replace it with the one you just cut out. Doing it this way made everything line up perfectly for me!

Hero Arts Very Merry Christmas Tree

The original look I was going for was the inlaid look from the previous card, but that ended up being more work than I wanted to put in and this one ended up being my favorite anyway!
I cut the die our from the lightest shade in the reds, I carefully peeled up the positive space (with the words) and left all the negative space piece in the die for later. I then backed the die cut with some of the light pool card stock, which I had glittered with some fun microfine glitter. I will probably make a bunch more of these.

Hero Arts Very Merry Tree

Now I took the light pink pieces (still stuck in the die), added adhesive to the back of them, and stuck them down die and all to an a2 sized card base. Let it dry for a minute and carefully peel the die up. It was a little too plain so I did some ink blending around the edges.

Hero Arts Very Merry Tree Die

I wasn’t ready to stop so I repeated the process from the last two cards, this time I used a shimmer pen over the negative space vs. glittering the cardstock, for a less dramatic sparkle.

Hero Arts Very Merry Tree Die

Like before I adhered the negative space down to a white a2 card base and this time decided to create a frame using a rectangle die instead of ink blending around the edges.

All the cards got a nice sprinkling of snowflakes from last years Hero Arts Snowflake Confetti die.

Color Layering Poinsettia Trio

Happy Sunday everyone,

So glad you stop by.  I am sharing a trio of cards created using the same stamp.

As soon as I got my Color Layering Poinsettia Stamp set, I experimented with various color combinations.  The reds one were easier.  But it took me many tries to get the white/yellow ones to my liking.

One of my favorite new supply is the Hero Art Glimmer Metallic Gold Ink.  I diluted it with some water, and use a flat, toothed watercolor brush to draw shimmery gold strips on white card stock.  Then I cut it up and used it on all three cards.  I am quite happy how these turned out.

For more details on each of my cards, hop over to my blog Escape To Stamping.

5 Minute Card – A Very Merry Hero Arts Christmas

Hero Arts Very Merry Fancy Die

Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by today. I have another card to share with you from my last Hero Arts haul. This time I’ve used the Very Merry Tree Fancy Die. My original plan was a shake card, but with the colors I choose it was just too busy. So I have it assembled as a shake, with no sequins, just to add some dimension.

I cut the die out of some green cardstock and backed it with a piece of acetate paper so the negative space would be a clear window. I used foam tape to mount that onto a piece of glitter cardstock, before mounting onto my card base. And that’s it! A super simple and quick holiday card that you could easily mass reproduce!

Non-Traditional Holiday Card with Hero Arts

Hero Arts Holidays Die Snowflake Edge

Hi Everyone! Kristina here with my first of the years Holiday cards. If you don’t already know we have the new 2018 Hero Arts holiday release in store now and ready to get inky. I went a little die crazy with this release buying a bunch of the new fancy dies and had to get ahold of this “Holidays” sentiment. I like to do “Happy Holidays” cards more frequently for the ones I’m going to mail, because chances are they aren’t getting sent on time. So if they get there by New Years I’m still in the clear!

For this card I started by just ink blending a background panel with some distress oxide inks, I knew I wanted to do something utilizing the snowflake fancy edge as a frame/border. The die is 5.5″ long, but I decided to trim it down to use horizontally on a top fold card.

When I started playing with the sentiment die I decided to do an inlay, and I really wanted it to pop. So I cut the die first out of the ink blended background and then out of some black card stock and pieced the two together onto an a2 card base. To complete the sentiment I pulled the word Happy off of another sentiment sent and stamped it above. To pull it all together and give it a real pop, I added glossy accents overtop the sentiment.

Hero Arts Nasturtium Ornaments

Hi everybody,  Cindy here to share a holiday card.  But first thing first, goodies from the Hero Arts 2018 Season of Wonder Catalog has arrived in the store.  Get a head start and shop for you favorite holiday supplies.

So I have been making ahead holiday cards to build up a good stash.  Today I paired the Ornament Infinity Dies and Hero Florals Nasturtium to create a floral ornament.

I first stamp and heat emboss the Nasturtium on white card stock with Gold Glitter Embossing Powder.  Then I die cut the ornament, and gave it a slight coat of Buttercup shimmer spray.  Then I adhere it on my card base which has a pattern scalloped panel.  The sentiment is gold heat embossed and it’s from the Color Layering Poinsettia Clear Stamp set which is the Hero Arts 2018 Season of Wonder Catalog.

The Gold Glitter Embossing is really glittery and shiny, isn’t it?  Since I got my supplies out, I made three cards all at once.  The cards are 4 by 5 1/2 inch so it is perfect to cut three card base out of a 12 by 12 card stock.  Remember to scroll down to get my discount code for you shopping fun, and remember to use the Request Custom Order if you don’t see the items in the a2z store.

Hero Arts Monochrome Ornaments

Hello welcome,

Cindy here to share a monochrome Christmas card.  I’ve decided since the beginning of the year to make my holiday cards ahead of time.  And I made this one to add to my stash.  Let’s take a look.

It’s a design I could make multiples in various colors.  I started off by pressing and dragging my Ombre Pink to Red Ink Pad on white card stock from one end to the other (twice to cover the 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 inch panel) .

Next I mixed some Perfect Pearl powder in water and used a flat brush to apply stripes of it over some of the inked areas.

Not sure if you could see the shimmery stripes.  But it’s the areas that appears lighter in color.  Next I used the Ornament Infinity Dies to die cut the ornaments.  Lucky me, I found a color card stock that matches the inked panel and I white heat embossed the sentiment on it and cut into a fishtail banner.  All the ornaments and the banner are then adhered on a Swiss Dots embossed white panel then onto a matching pink card base.  Here’s a close up you could see better the perfect pearl.

Hero Arts CM180 Color Layering Holly Christmas Card

Hope you can handle one more Christmas card. I know Christmas is over but I love the warm feeling this season brings to my heart. I’m just not ready to let it go … yet!

Here’s my card for today

I started by thinking that I would make a one-layer card. I used post-it tape to mask off an area towards the bottom of the card. I stamped the holly leaves and berries. I carefully removed the post-it tape and I noticed some uneven edges with the stamping. So, onto plan B, I stamped the sentiment on a white strip and matted with some gold cardstock. Crisis averted!

Make Snowmen from Ornaments Dies

Hi, friends, Chark here today with you on Christmas Eve! Such an exciting day of the year, with lots of anticipation. I remember never being able to sleep on Christmas Eve. One night, my oldest sister got us up to see Rudolph in the sky…our middle sister didn’t believe it was Rudolph, but I saw the glowing red light, so I knew she was right 🙂

il_570xN.1261437982_qqyx

Today I’ve taken the Ornaments Infinity Dies and turned them into something new…snowmen! I’ve used these dies in a variety of ways (including Santa and Rudolph here) and I’m really enjoying creating something new with them and getting my money’s worth, lol!

IMG_5352

This guy just uses the large ornament die for the head and hat and one of smaller ornaments for his nose. I used a scrap of red cardstock and the Hero Arts Circle Infinity dies for the eyes and pompon.

IMG_5350

This guy uses the same circles and ornaments for his features and hat. I just cut one circle in half for his laughing eyes.

These came together super quick and can be used as ornaments, tags or cards.

Wishing you a lovely day and holiday season!

Christmas Wrap with Hero Arts

Aloha and happy Saturday friends!  My apologies for the delay.  It’s been busy around here with baking and wrapping gifts.  There’s nothing like a homemade gift and having homemade wrapping paper can be a bonus too!

Hero Arts Christmas Wrap

I took white tissue paper and my Hero Arts Ombre inks and started stamping away using the Hero Arts Christmas Messages (which is on sale).  I made sure the pattern was stamped in a way that I didn’t have to worry about the sentiment being upside down.  When buying wrapping paper I’m always conscious of one way designs…drives me crazy…haha!  Another tip is having another paper to stamp on.  I learned this the hard way realizing my inks bled through the tissue paper on to my desk.

Hero Arts Christmas Wrap

Here’s the gift all wrapped up…see what I mean about having the sentiment stamped in various ways?  I think this would be a cool way to make a card set for friends and family and wrap it up for fun!

Hero Arts Christmas Wrap

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!  Mahalo for all of your comments and visits to the blog this past year.  Sending virtual hugs to you all for a blessed New Year!!

Ornaments Infinity Dies in a New Way

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today sharing a Santa card I made with my Hero Arts Ornaments Infinity Dies. I think he turned out pretty cute!

  1. I used the dies shown below for the deer and for Santa (he has two dies…one red and one white).
  2.  I cut a rounded slit in the white paper ornament and slid in a kraft circle.
  3.  I added a little kraft lip to the top of the white piece.
  4. On the face, I cut two black ornament hangers for Santa’s eyes. I used the inside of the black ornament hangers for Rudolph’s eyes.
  5. I cut circles from dies for Rudolph’s nose and Santa’s pompon.
  6. I took the black circles from the ornament hangers and use as Rudolph’s eyes.
  7. I added clear Nuvo Clear Crystal Drops to both character’s eyes and Rudolph’s nose.

IMG_5302

For the background piece, I first watercolored the card and after it dried, I placed the stencil down and used a slightly different watercolor. After that dried, I used Nuvo Aquamarine Mousse (love this stuff!) with the same stencil on top. I had a lot of fun finding new uses for my Ornaments Infinity Dies!

IMG_5288

I’m entering this one over at A Blog Named Hero for their Winter Holiday Challenge…join me here if you love your Hero Arts!

Happy Monday!
