Waterlilies from the Color Layering Koi set

Hello crafty friends,

Today I made a tag featuring the Waterlilies from the Hero Arts Color Layering Koi stamp set.  At first I thought the flowers may be too small, but in the end it turned out just fine.

My process:

  • Trim white card stock into 3 1/4 by 5 1/5 in tag.  Use inking tool and sponge Broken China, Chipped Sapphire, and Milled Lavender to create a soft background.
  • Layer Hero Arts Delicate Petals Stencil on top of inked tag.  Spread thin layer of white embossing paste, remove stencil and let dry.
  • On white card stock, ink and stamp waterlilies, and lily pads.  Die cut using Hero Arts Color Layering Koi Frame Cuts.
  • Color flower center using Copic markers.
  • Stamp sentiment from same set on vellum strips using Jet Black StazOn ink.
  • Adhere waterlilies, lily pads, and sentiment on tag as shown.
  • Tie bow using strip of white soft tulle.

I think the embossed background provides a nice backdrop of the waterlilies.

There is still plenty time to play, pull out your favorite stencils and join in the March challenge – Playing With Stencils.  You could win a $25 gift card to the store.  Just remember to use some Hero Arts products such as stamps, stencil, die cut, digi stamps on your project.

Color Layering Peacock Tags

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today to play with the Color Layering Peacock stamp set. It’s just so pretty and you can see some beautiful work here on this blog this month with the stamp set. When I saw it, I couldn’t resist trying some foiling with the stamp.

IMG_3419

On this first tag, I used the single peacock feather stamp to make his tail. I stamped his body (just one stamp, not layered) in glue and added gold foil. Then I used rainbow foil on several feathers. The background is the Wallpaper Pattern cling stamp in the Distress Oxide Worn Lipstick. I didn’t heat or use water, just stamped with the ink. It’s a lot crisper than the Distress Inks and stamps beautifully.

IMG_3430

On the second tag, I used the matching Peacock Ink cubes to stamp the Peacock and then trimmed it out. On the tag itself, I painted with Dylusions Vibrant Turquoise acrylic paint, let it dry, and then used glue to dab through the stencil. Once that dried, I added the foils. You need a glue that stays tacky after drying, like Duo, to use the foils. You just rub them on the sticky (but dry) glue. You won’t get perfect coverage or stamping/stenciling, but it is so pretty!

Hi, it’s Sue here today with a new card. For this card, I used Hero Arts CM124 Color Layering Fuchsia stamp set. These Hero Arts color layering stamp sets are so easy to use, especially with a MISTI. I was hesitant to try them because I haven’t had the best results with other layering stamps. However, it’s really quite simple and the results are stunning – almost like I know what I’m doing!

Here’s my card

Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock and Peacock Feather Stencil

Hello everyone,

It’s Donna here and the challenge for this month is all about Stencils. You can link your project here. Please be sure that your project contains at least ONE main HERO ART Product as the focal element!

playing-with-stencils

Here is my card, I am using the new Hero Arts Peacock Feather stencil, the Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock stamp set and the Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock Frame Cuts.

Closer look at the peacock and my background.

Here is how I put my card together:

I first used the Hero Arts Butter Bar and inked the layer, then I laid my stencil on the inked layer and taped the edges down so the stencil would not move.

I then spread the Bo Bunny Frost Glitter paste down with my tool. I set this aside to dry.

I then took the layering peacock framed cut and die cut it out.  I then used the Peacock Layering stamp with the Hero Arts Navy, Hero Arts Deep Ocean and Hero Arts Butter Bar inks to layer the peacock.  I didn’t have all the recommended colors for the Peacock, but I think it came out pretty nice with the colors I used.  I finished my card off by adding some Yellow Stickles to the Peacocks tail and added some Hero Arts Ombre Blue sequins.

If you like any of the products I used on my card, please stop over at the a2z Scrapbooking Esty store. You can also use the code “Donna15” to receive 15% off of a $25.00 order.

Swallowtail Butterfly with Ombre Spring Brights

swallowtail wm main.jpg

I had so much fun making this card using a new Hero Arts Ink Ombre Spring Brights on kraft card stock.   I swiped it down a piece, then die cut the Swallowtail Butterfly and also used it to stamp the flowers and leaves from the Let Love Grow stamp set.   I also used a little white ink for accents, black ink and some circle dies to frame the sentiment which is also from that same step set.  I finished it off with some diamond gems on the butterfly.  Here’s a list of the supplies I used:

Hero Arts Orchid Branches Red

Hello everyone,

It’s Cindy.  I use this month’s challenge theme: Any Shade of Red as my inspiration of today’s card.  It’s a fairly simple card, except I use partial die cutting to add dimension.  You could consider it a one layer card with an attitude!  😀

a2z_hero_arts_orchid_branches

My process:

  • On white card stock, ink and stamp the orchid branch from Hero Arts Color Layering Orchid in a Pot set in a pleasing composition in various shades of Red.
  • Stamp sentiment in black.
  • Distress with Spun Sugar all around.
  • Use matching frame cut and partial die cut at various length of the branches.
  • Layer and adhere red color paper on card base.
  • Add foam adhesive behind partial die cut branches with various thickness, the most thick at the tip of the branch, less closer to the base.
  • Adhere orchid panel to card.  Remove backing of foam tape from branches and adhere to card.  Slightly curl the flower petal to create more dimension.

Here’s a closer look.

One Layer Card With Hero Arts Color Layering Cardinal

Hello everyone… Helen is here. Today I am sharing a quick way to create CAS – One Layer Card.

Color Layering stamp sets are my favorite from Hero Arts. I often stretch the use of these stamp sets, like the Color Layering Cardinal stamp set. It is a Holiday stamp set, but I use this set for everyday card, such as thank you card.

a2z-onelayercard-helengullett-1

I pair the Cardinal Color Layering stamp set with Thanks Stamp & Cut set to create this CAS – One Layer Thank You Card.

I stamped the all the image on a watercolor paper with archival ink pads and then I added some soft light blue to create a sky background. Then I decided to add some glitter with my glitter brush on all over the surface.

Check out the glitter and shiny on the card… don’t you love it? 🙂

Hero Arts Color Layering Graphic Flowers Hello Friend Card

Living here in Vancouver, we’re used to rain during the winter months. This year, however, we’ve had colder than usual temperatures and more snow and ice that doesn’t seem to want to stay away. So, for my card today, I wanted to brighten things up and think SPRING!

Here’s my card

hero-arts-cl862-color-layering-graphic-flowers

My spirit was certainly brighten making this card with all the great Hero Arts inks. I kept adding flowers in different colours, sometimes overlapping them. I made a banner (because I wasn’t sure where to put my sentiment) with the sentiment.

We’d love for you to join our monthly challenge here. Please be mindful that you need to use a Hero Arts product as the focal element on your creation.
