Miss You Sew Much

Hi everybody,

Today I share a CAS ‘miss you’ card, it is inspired by my mom.  She was a seamstress, and she taught me how to use the sewing machine.  I miss her much!!

To make my CAS card, I used an image editor to remove color, and to resize the sewing machine image and printed twice.   Once on pattern paper, and another on white card stock (image positioned on right side of the card stock, so when folded the image would be on the card front) with the sentiment placed underneath it.  I rendered the image printed on pattern paper with coloring pencils, hand cut, and then adhered to the card base.  I added colored to the thread, and hand drawn thread to connect the sentiment.  To ground the sewing machine I added Washi tape in similar colors.  The final touch was glossy accent on some buttons and decor on the sewing machine, and I rounded the corners of my card.

We are having a Design Team Call right now, do you love Hero Arts products and crafting?  Yes?  Check details Here.

Seventh Heaven Digi Duel

Hi, friends, Chark here today with Arlene to duke it out…or duel it out…with each other. We’re both using the Hero Arts digi stamp set called Seventh Heaven. Basically, we each took the digis and made our own projects to pit them against each other. Ka-pow! Just kidding, no DT members were hurt in this duel.

Here are Arlene’s two projects…check her blog for more details. I love how this sun really pops on her backgrounds–they look like swirling clouds, don’t you think?

Arlene’s Supplies:

  • Hero Arts digital kit 7th Heaven at A2Z
  • Hero Arts digital kit Birthday Bash (sentiment) at A2Z
  • Elizabeth Craft Design Stitched Rectangles
  • QuicKutz Nesting Circle Dies
  • The Paper Studio “Pastel Marble” paper
  • Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss Midnight Blue
  • Vagabond die cut machine

And here’s my square card. I looovved the sun in this set and it’s already colored, so using it makes for a fast card. I added a sentiment from the set in the middle of the sun, printed it and adhered it to a square card. I added a ribbon from my stash and I was finished!

• Ribbon and cardstock from stash

Hero Arts Vintage Travel Digis on the Move

A2Z has a Clean and Simple challenge for September and I chose to work with the Vintage Travel digital kit only available at A2Z Scrapbooking.  All of the images are from this same kit.digital kit only available at A2Z Scrapbooking.  All of the images are from this same kit.  Since it’s a CAS challenge, I made these very CAS.  The sentiments are my own handiwork.

The Perfect Blend

Hi all! Its Gwendolyn and I’m back today to share a perfect blend I discovered when I mixed Sugartree & Hero Arts digital stamps! In my last two posts I showed you how you could use the Hero Arts “Painted Petals” digi stamp, and then the Sugartree “Hug In A Mug” digi stamp.

Well today, I’m going to show you how to use both of them together!

sunflower mug cu

I created a little video of how I edited the digi files to add the sunflowers and sentiment on the mug and you can find it at the end of the post. Please forgive me if its a little shaky as its the first time I did a video of my screenshot. Once they were edited to create a sunflower mug, I printed them on Nina Solar White paper and coloured them in with my Derwent Graphik line painters. These are acrylic paints in a pen and create a very thick layer of ink. I doodled in the leaves & coloured thsunflower mug main 900pix.jpge handle green with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator marker.

sunflower mug

To finish, I added a little Nuvo Crystal drops in the middle of each flower and used the tip of the applicator to create the bumpy texture to add more interest. This was a very simple card to make and I hope you like it! As promised here is the video I made to show you how I digitally assembled the images using the Pages app as I have an iMac it should be the same method with Word or Powerpoint.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you an amazing crafting weekend!

Hugs,

Gwendolyn

Hug in a Mug

Hi everyone. I’m back today to share a card I made with a digital stamp from Sugartree Stamps called “Hug in a Mug” This is a set of 13 individual stamps consisting of 5 images and 8 different sentiments to mix and match as you wish. I don’t use digital stamps very often but I’m beginning to like them more and more as I can change the size of the stamps to whichever size I like. These stamps even come in a second variation for no-line water-colouring with grey outlines instead of black.

stacked mugs gel paste cu

I started off by inserting & arranging my image and sentiment stamps using the Pages application as I have a Mac. I then did a print test on scrap copy paper to make sure the images were where I wanted them to be, before printing them again on Multi-technique paper as I wasn’t yet sure how I wanted to colour my mugs. I finally decided to use my Spectrum Noir Illustrator alcohol markers to colour them. I then added clear gel from Lukas, to some parts the mugs, except for the blue part on the bottom mug, to which I added Nuvo’s Caribbean Ocean crystal drops gel instead.  I also added Nuvo gloss white crystal drops to the dots in the green cup.

stacked mugs gel paste ccu

It’s hard to see the shine & the 3D effect in the photographs, but in real life they look like porcelain mugs! I cut out this panel with Stamplorations “Crazy double running stitched” rectangle die and adhered it to a card base which I had surrounded with little dots using my Nuvo drops again.

So all in all a very simple card to make although you do have to let the gel dry, but I just made other cards with the other stamps in the meantime, and I’ll share them in my next post on the 25th of August!

Well I hope you like my card and I would love to know what you think of it. Have a great day!

Gwendolyn

Digi Dueling with Constellations

Hi, friends, it’s time for two Design Team members to duel it out with the same digi kit. This month, though, you can win two star-themed digi stamps and so we had the choice of two different kits. So this month, Arlene chose the Constellation set and I went for The Firmament set. They’re very similar and work well together too!

I used a few of the stamps from the set to make this card front and then used a glue pen that stays sticky to add silver foil (not heat-set foil) the purple stripes are foil on thin tape. I added a few doodles with the glue pen to add more purple foil.

You can see the shininess in this close-up.

Poetic Petals digital stamp – Part 2

poetic petals digi

Hi everyone! Today I’m using Hero Arts Poetic Petals digital stamp again, to show you an easy way to colour this stamp, with shining results! This stamp set comes with 4 beautifully drawn flowers and in my last post here, I showed you how to do a no line water-colouring with one of them. Today, I just coloured them in with pencils and markers, directly on the copy paper I printed them on!

poetic petals marker cu

The actual reason I did this was that I’m still on holiday at my Mother in law’s in Madrid and I thought she would have a printer here so I didn’t bring another printed image on proper colouring paper. Fortunately she doesn’t have a printer as this led me to discover that cheap printer paper works just as well for colour pencils and markers! I started colouring in the printed image with dark blue Prismacolor pencils but then decided I wanted a more vibrant look. As I didn’t bring any other colouring medium with me, apart from my watercolours which would not work on copy paper, I searched around my mil’s stationary and found some blue and gold uni ball glitter gel pens & used those.

20180720_113051

Once I finished colouring my flower, I cut it out, put it aside and started on the card base. I used the lightest colour card from Hero Arts Floral Mix folded card & cut it into strips with a scissors. I then glued only the broad strips back onto the card. As the copy paper was very thin, I added a thick scrap paper under it and glued the flower onto my prepared card base. This whole panel was then glued onto the darkest blue card from Hero Arts sea mix folded cards.

poetic petals marker shine

Can you see the shine the uni ball pens give, i just love it! The typewritten sentiment comes from a… typewriter! I didn’t bring appropriate sentiment that would fit into the small space so I typed it in myself!

Well I hope you like my card and I would love to know what you think of it. Have a great day!

Gwendolyn

Monthly Circles Interactive Birthday Card

Hello, Cindy here to share an interactive card.  I used Hero Arts Monthly Circle Digi Stamp as the background and add a DIY wobbler element.

I chose the month of July image from the digi stamp set, copy, rotate and paste to create a random pattern background.  I printed it on white card stock.  Then I stamped the curly ribbon bits images (from Monthly Hero Kit December 2016) with a few colors.  Next I added the birthday banner (stamped in black, colored, hand cut, mounted on yellow card stock and trimmed again).  Next I stamped and colored the gift and made it into a DIY wobbler and adhere to the card.  I took a few photos while making it, it really is not complicated.  The wire I used is a light weight fine wire for jewelry making.

Here is a very short video clip to show it in action.  🙂

The DIY wobbler sure adds some fun to an ordinary card.  I hope you would try it too.

Hero Arts Vintage Travel Birthday Card

Hello again, I am here with another card and it goes along with the monthly challenge Birthday Bash.

Vintage Travel Digital Kit

I was taking a look at the digital images at a2z Scrapbooking and I really liked the images in the Vintage Travel Digital Kit. They are really good ones for masculine cards. Those are the hard ones to make for me. My inspiration for my card was a very similar one I made for my Dad.

For the background I first did a wash of blue watercolor on some watercolor paper. I decided it needed just a little bit more so the second time I put some Oxide Distress ink down on my craft mat and spritzed it with water and laid the panel over it. Then set that aside to dry and I don’t like to waste ink so I made another panel for another time.

For the billboard I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut it out. I had to resize it to fit a 5 1/2 X 5 1/2 size card. For the “sign” part I first printed the map image, which is included in the Vintage Travel Digital Kit. I then loaded the map paper into my Cameo and cut out the “sign”. I stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts set It’s Your Day. The balloon is from a set by Avocado Arts. I colored the balloon with Copics and accented it with a white pen.

The ribbon is glued down with red line tape.

The car is also from the Vintage Travel Digital Kit. I sized it to fit my card and printed it on Neenah cardstock and cut it out by hand.
