Hero Arts Kelly’s San Francisco for an Anything Goes Month

Happy July 4th and I’m sure San Francisco will be celebrating in style.

The challenge this month is “Anything Goes” and I’m sure the team is going to WOW you this month, yet again.  Have fun and let your imagination soar.

Just to let you know, I’m from California, just two (2) hours (well, a little less) from San Francisco, so I had to get this stamp set.  Don’t you know the city will be lit up with fireworks and everyone will be celebrating.  It is a 4th of July greeting from San Francisco.

I liked the whole stamp set just the way it came in the package.  I decided to stamp it as the set it came in.  I do have to say that the row houses are much prettier than mine below, but I like them anyway.  Everyone leaves their heart in San Francisco, so I popped a red heart right on top of the stamped heart.  It fits perfectly.

Many Greetings to You from San Francisco!

Color Layering Butterflies Flitting By To Say Hi

I wanted a soft feminine card with some cute butterflies.  The note card color helps soften the look.  Instead of stamping the base of the butterflies, I used the intermediate stamp size to give this a different look and I quite like it.  I’m here to tell you that this set provides lots of opportunities to create new and lovely cards.

Hero Arts Butterfly Fancy Dies

Hero Arts Coloring Layering Butterflies Just For You

This is something a little bit different for me – using part of a die on purpose.  I used that wonderful large Hero Arts Butterfly die to cut out part of a panel of graded colored paper, my stash from a great buy at Michaels a couple years back.  The first card, my butterfly die took a big piece of paper with it.  I wonder where it went.  I popped the panel up on form tape and it is amazing in real life.  I used the die that goes with a new butterfly stamp set with it’s sentiment to finish this card.

Hero Arts Butterfly Fancy Dies

Do you realize that the butterfly on this card is the cut-out from the panel above/  Doesn’t even look like it, does it?  It’s not the photographing either.  The cards really do look the way they appear on this post.  The butterfly was such a soft color that I went with softer colors for background.  I have added one item here that is not Hero Arts, but some hearts from the Elizabeth Craft Designs Poppy the Owl die cut set.  I’ve found these hearts to be a perfect size in several of my future cards.  I cut the hearts from the same panel as the butterfly.

I don’t often use a negative of the die because I use every space on my paper, no extra paper goes into the trash unless it’s beyond use.  This is an exception to the rule.   I hope you enjoy and bring out your negative side, just as I did.  For once, having a negative side isn’t so bad.

My next “To Die For” card will be on June 20th.

Hero Arts & San Francisco, The City By the Bay

This stamp was made for CAS.  If you just keep it simple, it’ll let your card show its beauty.   I’d love to see this stamp used in other ways too.  You wonderful creators of magic on cards will be able to run with this stamp.  And I want to see what you do!  As soon as I saw this in the Summer Hero Arts Catalog, I knew I wanted this stamp.  How could I not?  I may not be a home grown Californian, but I was transplanted when I was 16 and wouldn’t live anywhere else.  Why San Francisco?  It’s a two-hour drive down to THE CITY and Hero Arts too.

You know when you buy a stamp and have the rubber almost melting in your hands because you’re not letting it go?  AND THEN… You think to yourself, “What am I going to do with it?  You have not a clue in your head.  Well, for sure, that did NOT happen with this stamp.  I just wanted to use a little watercolor, some spatter and just play.  I figured, if any came out half decent, that was a plus.  Maybe that was the way to go, because, even the cards in back are not too bad.   I hope you try your hand on this or any of the other new city, plus Hawaii & Texas state stamps.

Color Me Purple

Our linky for the monthly challenge is fixed and now on the sidebar.  Please come join us in a little water coloring.

On with the show!  I do love the background.  Surrealistic. You can imagine this background as anything you want.  I see a sky with a forest where that long line runs above the word Dream.  Or maybe it’s a city in the future on another planet.  Hey, dream!

The Butterfly Effect

NOTICE: It looks like we’re having a bit of trouble with our InLinkz Link-up on our blog.  It seems to have a mind of its own and disappeared from the side-bar.  However, it found a home on the first day of March here.  The DT are trying to put it back where it came from, but until you see it in the usual place on the top right side, you’ll be able to enter here.

March is flitting by with butterflies.  I love my new butterflies and matching die-cuts.  I did’t know I was butterfly enabled, but I guess I love those butterflies as I seem to keep buying them.  I had this urge to use this background, don’t know why but just thinking night sky here.

You don’t have to emboss everything, just some specific items like the butterfly dots on the wings and the sentiment.  Close-up of the embossing which is not evident from the card photo.

Happy Masking

I used a die-cut to mask off the white space on the front of my card.  Sponging the white card front with Distress Inks, Ground Espresso first, followed by Carved Pumpkin with a sponging of Broken China on top created this eye-catching frame.  I stamped a sentiment and now I have a birthday card for my son.

A2Z Happy BDay Feb 2016

I took the die-cut I used to cover the front of the card and moved it to the inside where I think it’s a surprise for the recipient.

Flowers with Love

This is not a tag, but a tag card (A2 size).  I masked the flowers and decided to use some flower colors I don’t normally use, such as brown on the tips of the flowers.  I didn’t want an ombre background, but used a piece of torn paper to mask the background on each layer.  I was going for a mountain, wild type of background and I like this.  I plucked a ladybug and put it on one of the petals.   A2Z Masked Flowers FEb 2016

  • Supplies:
  • Hero Arts Hello Flowers CL774
  • Copic markers E57, Y08,YR07, YR14
  • Distress inks Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amer and I put the inks away and I don’t remember the exact color of green at the bottom

Say It With Glitter

Second Post for today
If your looking for the Design Team Call Post, click here

Say it with glitter.  I think that’s fairly appropriate for this card.  Quite colorful too.  Sometimes you just have to let go with a little razzle dazzle (extremely flashy .colorful..loud .overkill..shiny) was the thing I needed for the new year.

It’ll be my wake up card for anyone who’s moping along and not feeling happy with the day.  I think this is one of the best die sets ever.

This May Not Be Fireworks, But It is Glittery

I DID NOT sponge the card with any inks.  This is the pattern on the card stock.  I would love to have made this background, but when it’s already done and so beautifully at that, I say USE IT.

This may not be fireworks, but it is glittery.  This is just a die-cut and small sentiment, yet it is enough to make this card live.

Supplies:

  • Hero Arts Butterfly Fancy Die at a2z Scrappbooking
  • Hero Arts Butterfly and Flower here  and it’s on sale for only $8.00 (sentiment)  (WHAT A DEAL)
  • Adhesive and Warm Diamond Microfine Glitter (Elizabeth Craft Designs) You might try the Hero Arts Prisma Glitter here
  • Card stock from a 12″ X 12″ paper pad by Craft Smith while it was on sale in October 2015.

Of course I couldn’t stop at one card.  However, I wanted a quick and dirty way to make this card about 15 times.  Below are samples of four different colors I used.  The butterfly on the green background is more green than shown below.   I used the hard thick glitter paper, which worked out just fine.
