Sugartree Sentiment Happy Mother’s Day

Mix a bit of digi with coloring and this is one of the results.  I gave this card to my daughter-in-law for Mother’s Day.  A friend gave me the paper to color and I went for yellows and pinks.  Below the card is one of the panels in pink that I colored.  I didn’t think I would like the panels so well, but I love the gold outlines (which you can feel if you run your finger over the panel) and extremely smooth paper.

I usually print out digital sentiments in different sizes to see how they will fit on the card and either die cut the sentiment or make a banner with scissors like I did here.  A friend gave this to me to color.  She had cut three panels and I colored one in yellow and the other two in light pinks and dark pinks.  This is gorgeous in real life and all the panel needed was a beautiful sentiment.  Consider adding a sentiment to a complex background.

Hero Arts Notes and Dates Digi Duel

Today is our monthly Digital Duel with two of our Design Team members, where we feature the digi prize for our May Challenge…it’s always interesting to see what two different designers do with the same stamp set. Today Arlene and I (Chark) are going head to head. Who will come out unscathed? We’ll have to see! En garde, mon amie!

Here’s a look at the Notes and Dates digi stamp set.

Here’s Arlene’s card with the stamp set. She enlarged the calendar to fit the card front and then highlighted some of the sentiments. You can go to Arlene’s blog to see more details.

Hero Arts Flowering Magnolia on a Shaped Card

I’ve used several different colors on this lovely magnolia image and love them all.  The image lends itself to a circle so well too.  I like the way this particular die-cut enhances the flower.   You know how you create something you’d rather keep (I know there are a lot), than give away.  This is one of those I would rather keep.

A2Z Sugartree Stamp is Owlsome

Aren’t the new Sugartree Stamps delightful?  I thought I’d make a card to tell her how awesome she is.  Even though she is 18, she’ll appreciate this cute stamp and sentiment.  I used Copic marker E000 to outline this cutie.  A dot of Nuvo on the eye gives the image a “I’m looking at you” feeling.  I hope you enjoy using these cute new digital stamps too.

April Showers Digi Duel

En garde! It’s that time again, when two team members use the same digital stamp set to create two different projects. This month, the team members are me, Chark, and Arlene and the prize for this month’s challenge is April Showers.

il_570xN.659795252_38dx

Arlene has this adorable, perfect-for-spring boot card. She kept the colors all in blues, which totally matches the “miss you” sentiment. A fun but still sincere way to tell someone you wish you could see them.

  • Hero Arts digital kit April Showers at A2Z Scrapbooking
  • Little B Handwritten
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles & alphabet 2 – lower case
  • Vagabond die cut machine

On my card, I’ve used the rainbow image, along with the sun and a sentiment from the set. I wanted to use the rainbow order, so I added some black marker lines to make room for more colors on the stamp, and I think my wonky lines look okay with this whimsical rainbow. I trimmed the sun so it could peek from behind the rainbow and glued on the aptly named Sunshine Ombre Sequins after coloring with yellow-orange Tombow marker.

Hero Arts Sunshine Flowers Digital Cutting Files

I love the flowers and they do look like a wonderful pot of flowers with the petals free to lift above the centers.   Please join us in the A2Z Scrapbooking challenge this month.

I used a negative of the scored oval die cut from a card I made for January 1st.  I used some Oxide Inks on my flowers and arranged them in a pot.

The addition of Fired Brick to the Fossilized Amber makes the flowers look like they are partially in shade.

You can catch me on A Bit of This and That.

Notes and Dates Digi Anything Goes

I’m definitely out of my comfort zone with a card full of digitals.   Sometimes you have a friend who doesn’t quite remember events, it’s time to send a fun card as a reminder.  I’ve got the card.  A2Z Scrapbooking has the digitals.  I couldn’t quite stick with one kit.  I usually print out a bunch of images that I pop into and re-size on Word.  I may cut them all out, either with that good old friend, scissors or a die cut machine.  I did both here.  Check out all the digital kits I used below in my supply list.

One-of-a-Kind Digi Duel

Hi, friends, today’s digi duel is brought to you by Arlene and me, Chark. On the 11th of each month, two design team members use that month’s digital prize to create cards and duel to see who uses the digi better…we fight to the death!

Well, maybe I overstate it a bit…but it IS fun to see two designers use the same kit and see what they come up with. (No design team members were injured in the making of this post.)

Here’s the One-of-a-Kind stamp set we used.

il_570xN.633219896_g8k4

Here’s Arlene’s take on the One-of-a-Kind digi kit (the prize for March’s Anything Goes Challenge). These cutie birds are missing you! Clean and simple, this design cleverly uses colored paper and digi stamps to make a fast no-color card that you can pop in the mail to a long-distance buddy in no time!

Arlene’s Supplies:

My (Chark’s) card uses a sentiment and two different flower stamps included in the digi set. I tried to make the different flower stand out by making it black in a sea of pink. I added Silver Chrome marker and white highlights to the flower and added glitter gumdrops that match the pink. The dotted paper was a little scrap I had. I’m trying to organize and use those scraps!

Chark’s Supplies:

One-of-a-Kind Hero Arts digi set

•Pink card stock

Chrome marker

White Uniball pen

Glitter gumdrops

Happy Sunday!

Hero Arts Butterflies with a Spiral Stencil

This is one of the few times I have not used a die cut machine, but I wanted a simple one layer card and again used a monochrome card which you might have seen on our March 1st post here at A2Z Scrapbooking.  I hadn’t tried this technique of just putting a long post-it through a card and inking up the rest of the card in a long time and I like how this turned out.   I didn’t want a long sentiment, so I searched for and found a short sentiment to go with the lovely soft butterfly.

A2Z Hero Arts “In the Study”

I am totally in love with the “In the Study” stamps and dies.  It gives me a chance to put together color combinations and deciding which stamps to use.  I had been watching the Olympics and die-cutting a bunch of stamped images so I could just pick out die-cut images and move them around just like on a stage.

I made a birthday card for my son and I am very pleased with it.  I love the background paper and made a side-table and rug for under the chair.  I just had too much fun.   I used the letter “I” from a My Momenta alphabet set as the table leg and an oval Die-Namics Stitched Oval STAX die to make the table and the Die-Namics Pierced Circle STAX to make the table top.   I used a fine point Copic to “write” in the book on the side-table.
