Enjoy the Journey On A Bright and Beautiful Sea Voyage

I’d like to share a card that is glittery and bright and hopefully beautiful.  This is my third time this season to use this set for A2Z Scrapbooking.  I think three times is the charm.   I found this light filmy glittery paper at my local stamp shop before they closed (paper thin and soft).  I was able to stamp and die cut the ship and pop it up.  The black while and squid are cut from glitter cardstock.

Close-up of the bright glitter surfaces.

Hero Arts Vintage Travel

I didn’t have any mojo for working on my journal for awhile and all of a sudden two pages came together for me. The first page uses a double sided paper, one a map and the other is black with light circles.  I printed out some ships from the Hero Arts Vintage Travel digital kit and adhered a group of three to the bottom of a pockent on one side.  The digital butterfly is beautiful when cut out.  A cut piece of card stock is tucked into the pocket and now has some nifty things in it for the next six months.

I adhered a larger ship on top of a glittery green HA tag die-cut.  I colored a bit of the land masses a light to mid green color.

You can see what I’m using as tags here with the tags pulled out.  Yes I’m using white ink to write on these.

I’ve put the new journal page on rings and have a lot of my notes in here for A7Z Scrapbooking.

Save Our National Parks

Hero Arts Tags and Destinations

I’ve always liked the Hero Arts Tags dies.  You can let your creative juices go.  If you’ve never seen the National parks in the U.S., you really should.  My family traveled in the summer to different natural places.  Memories of the colored pools and geysers in Yellowstone will last the rest of my life.  Incredible views and experiences.  I used some Oxide distress inks here with a sentiment and a couple Destination wood stamps.

Have fun creating.

Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade and Broken China oxide inks spritzed with water.  Hero Arts sentiment out of stock.

Wilted Violet, Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China Oxide Inks spritzed with a homemade colored water.  Two very old cheap moon and clouds stamps were added.        Sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

Iced Spruce, Cracked Pistachio, Fired Brick and Fossilized Amber Oxide Inks were spritzed with water and an 1992 Stampin Up postmark added.  Buffalo colored with Copic marker W3 and trees colored with G03.  Sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

My samples are at A Bit of This and That.

Hero Arts Enjoy the Journey With Destinations for your calendar

This is a continuation of my calendar that I posted on June 4th.

And here it is July 4th, time to celebrate.  Happy 4th of July!

I think the Destination stamps are great stamps to use if you are journeying to one of these destinations.  Sending a “Wish you were here” note might be kind of sappy, but you can certainly stamp any Destination stamp on a post card and write a little something.

I liked the National Parks for September and October because those are end of summer travels where you can still enjoy the parks.  Some light touches of markers and you’re ready to go.  Remember that the calendars are double-sided, so you don’t want to use inks or markers that will show on the back of your coloring.

You can see I’m not quite straight on the stamping, but it’s not so noticeable on the actual calendar.  I used some older markers that don’t bleed through the papers.

Very simple coloring kept the calendar pages pretty neat and clean.

But November sports a nautical scene while December is sparkly and wintery.

The panel of wood the calendar page is resting on is a thin wood, pre-sticky piece which I won (EK TOOLS).  I thought it would suit the “wooden” ships.  I stamped and die cut the wood panels and only colored some of the sails.  A close-up will show you what I mean.

Close-up of November’s scene.  All of the details you see are from one stamp set and one Die set, even the waves. Say hello to Enjoy the Journey.

End of the 2017 year for the first year of my calendar.  The Hero Arts Layering Christmas Tree looks great for a forest of trees.  I wanted a bright season so I die cut some gold paper (unknown brand) with an Elizabeth Craft Designs die.  I wasn’t going to stamp a tree directly on the calendar, only the top, but the mini stamp pad landed directly on the calendar.  Oops – save the page by using the green stamp mark as a base for the tree.

Hero Arts Enjoy The Journey Shaped Card

Please join us in this months “Take Shape” challenge.

I love the new “Enjoy the Journey” stamp set and dies.  Fantastic dies and stamp images await you in the stamp and die set.  Remember that it’s all about shaped cards this month at A2Z Scrapbooking.   I’ve used some great Hero Arts Ombre inks too.  Think Ship in a Bottle and you have it. Forgot Your Birthday is stamped inside the card as well as the outside.  I should have stamped it in white on the outside. But, to err is human.

Close-up of the ship, which I LOVE.

Let City Adventure Shape Your Card W/ Hero Arts Digitals

This car is over 5 inches long and the height is almost 3 inches.  It opens from the top.  I took some Ranger Markers and water to color the car.  This digital car is easy to cut out by hand and I just cut the inside paper in the general shape of the car by holding the car and cutting the paper under the car.  You just crease the line on the cut car with a Score-pad and glue the top car onto the bottom shape.  I always wanted to make this car bigger and NOW it is bigger!    The cool thing about digitals is that they can be made any size.  I colored the car with the marker and then ran my water pen over the colors.  I think one of my pens was low on color and that is why the door looks a different color.

I hope you like my “News” car.

A Calendar Bold Prints w/ Hero Arts Stamps

Home made calendar.  The first photo shows the front and back covers of my calendar.  They are cut from a Graphics 45 paper pad (12″ X 12″).  No idea of the name of the paper pad or when I purchased it.  I just fell in love the the cover and it’s perfect for my calendar.  No stamping yet.  The poinsettia is die cut from a Elizabeth Craft Designs die here.  I had made it and not used it.  It’s the perfect color and I just had to use it on the cover.

I chose double-sided papers to go into the calendar and stamped front and back of each page with the Hero Arts Calendar Bold Prints stamp.  I was wondering if some of the patterns would obscure the stamp, but it didn’t.  I have no trouble making notes and printing and using digital stamps and regular stamping on the pages. The umbrellas are from a Hero Arts cut file at A2Z   I started my calendar mid-March and April is on the back of March.  June is on the back of the May Calendar page.  I have all kinds of notes and love the page.  A key die-cut from a soda can is covered with a silver pen.

May is a celebration of Carnaval in San Francisco on May 27 and 28.  That’s why I chose the paper and Destination San Francisco stamp which can be custom ordered through A2Z or at Hero Arts here..

You can see the calendar below the “APRIL” die cut letters.   I can still write dates and info in the squares.  I stamped the umbrella with the wood block Destination Paris stamp on the umbrella.  The umbrellas are from a cut files available at A2Z, called Weather Cuts Digital File.

Calendar Bold Prints

Calendar Bold Prints

The butterflies for June are from a stamp set available at A2Z Scrapbooking called Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies.

July is bright and cherry with flowers as the background.   I thought the new stamp set Hero Arts Enjoy the Journey was perfect for this enchanting background.  A bottle with some nautical images is perfect for this calendar.  I know I will enjoy this so much.

The pattern for August may not be as imposing or enchanting as other patterns, but I would love to travel out of the hot valley here in Sacramento, maybe in a ship.

The ships from Enjoy the Journey work for me.

Make Your Own Digital because You’re Sew Nice

Make your sentiment be the focus.

The digital kit has many old fashioned images and sentiments that go together so well.  I love the pincushion and yest, I cut it out by hand and didn’t lose any pins in the adventure. In real life, this is quite striking.  The black “pins” embedded into the pin cushion are dots of black enamel accents.  They pop more than seen here.  This was quite fun to do, very cAS.  Sometimes you should tell someone you think they’re nice.  What better card to send someone who sews.

Make Your Own DIgital and Thread Your Day

Make Your Own Digital

Make Your Own

The Sentiment is the Focal point.  What a great idea for a challenge.  I don’t often add a sentiment on a card so that it can be used for any occasion that comes up.  But I found some wonderful sentiments in Make Your Own digital.  I hope I made the sentiment the focus of this card because the first thing I focus on is the sentiment when I look at it.   I think I kept it pretty CAS too.   And I have this card in mind for a dear friend of mine who has won blue ribbons for her quilted projects at the California State fair and quilting shows.  Be sure to thread your day with smiles and laughter too.

Butterfly Fancy Caffeine Fix

My Favorite Things – Butterfly Fancy

I know I’m doing things a little backwards, but it will all work out.  I’ve completed my cover for the Note/Thoughts/Artsy things I want or need to remember. I finished my first page on March 20th here.   I like the bright and cheeriness of the cover – makes me want to open it and see what else there might be.  I really only have one page finished, so I have a whole lot more to do.  It might be nice to make the back to keep the pages all neat and safe too   I am very pleased with the cover to “Arlene’s Notes”.   I like the way the new Ranger Oxide inks worked on this cover.  The cover is made out of chip board and coated with white acrylic paint as a base to work with.  I taped the stencil on at the bottom and inked away with a blender tool. I pulled the tape off and blended some more.  I printed the cup in light blue, but it was too light in color so I colored it with a copic marker.  A bright idea occurred to me to use hearts instead of lines for steam.

Butterfly Fancy Caffeine Fix

I opened the cover and caught a peek of the page I finished last month.
