A Special Birthday with Hero Arts

Hello! For our challenge this month we have a nice theme going on and that would be birthday. I enjoyed working with the digital images recently and I really wanted to use one of the sentiments from the Hero Arts Special Day digital kit.  Here is how I used it.

I started with the background. I put down three colors of Hero Arts reactive ink and let that dry. Then I dropped some Hero Arts Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink on my craft mat. I watered that down and painted it over my panel. Here is another look where you can see the shimmer more. In real life it looks very nice and shimmery. That Glimmer Metallic Ink is pretty cool stuff. The a2z Scrapbooking Etsy shop has 2 different sets in the shop. One has Copper and Bronze in it and the other has Purple and Blue in it.

I let the panel dry. I took one of the balloons from the Hero Arts Birthday Bash digital kit and sized it, tilted the balloons and copy and pasted to make the background pattern. I printed the balloons on that painted/inked sheet of paper.

For the sentiment I inked up some paper with one of the reactive inks I used on the background. After the ink dried I printed the sized sentiment on that. The I cut around the sentiment using a die.

I put a couple mats/panels under the main panel. I also have fun foam under the painted/inked panel and the sentiment to add a little dimension.

Hero Arts Digital Birthday Bash Cake

Howdy, it’s Karen here with a fun card for a birthday. A bonus is I think this could work for a male or female.

Hero Arts Digital Birthday Bash

This card was really fun to make. I got on a roll and made several in this style. The style is an image that looks like it’s floating. I got this idea from a couple of cards that Jennifer McGuire made in the OCC class Stamp Happy. For the background I used the Hero Arts Lattice background stamp and first stamped with white then I shifted the paper over slightly and stamped with a dark blue ink using my Misti.

I then sized, changed the color and printed out this fun birthday cake that is in the Hero Arts Digital Birthday Bash Kit in the a2z Etsy store. The blue color is what printed. I did a little coloring with Copics which are the teal parts of the cake and the candle flames. On the squiggly icing I added a little Nuvo drops.

Here comes the fun part! In the front panel of the base of the card you die cut an oval. Then on the teal panel you also cut an oval the same size. In between those two you glue a piece of tulle. You use a smaller oval die and cut around your image. You glue this to the tulle. This creates a look of a floating image. Then cut another, white in this case, smaller oval and glue it on the inside of the card also on the tulle to cover the back of the birthday cake image. Here is a photo so you can see the inside of the card.

The sentiment is die cut and glued on.

Hero Arts Tree-Mendous Birthday

Hi everyone! Leslie here to share a DT inspiration project with you today, a fun birthday card using the Hero Arts Tree-Mendous Digital Kit and the Hero Arts Birthday Bash Digital Kit! Another fun almost-one-layer and all-digital card! I wanted to demonstrate the versatility of the Tree-Mendous Digital Kit – instead of using it for a Christmas card (I’m done with those for a while, lol!), I used it for a birthday card by coloring one of the trees in bright colors and adding a birthday sentiment from the Birthday Bash Digital Kit.

I printed a tree with flourishes and a sentiment, along with an extra tree (without the sentiment) on the opposite side of a piece of thick white cardstock. I flipped the piece over and printed the sentiment (which you’ll see in the post on my blog).

I cut the cardstock in half vertically and scored the card base (the half with the sentiment). I fussy cut the extra tree, colored it with Spectrum Noir markers and layered it on black cardstock which I trimmed, leaving a very narrow edge of black around the image. I colored the flourishes with a sparkle overlay marker and then ‘dabbed’ Multi Medium Matte over the entire image with a pouncing tool to give it some subtle texture. I adhered the tree to the card base and added a few pink sequins to finish the front.

Scrappy hugs!
