LAYERING BUTTERFLIES BY HERO ARTS

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here with you. April is almost over and I want to finish my creative month using another color layering stamp, the Color Layering Butterflies by Hero Arts. This is a very unique set of stamps that you can use for all occasions. Let me show you my card:

LAYERING BUTTERFLIES BY HERO ARTS

I love to create CAS (or Clear and Simple cards) and with the Color Layering stamps this is a real passion because you can use a lot of color combos and different layers to create different types of combinations on your images. If you notice on my card, the small butterflies have only one image in common, the detailed layer, but the bases are totally different.  The set Color Layering Butterflies is composed by 10 different images that you can combine and integrate to obtain different looks.

LAYERING BUTTERFLIES BY HERO ARTS

The base of my card is Whisper White and I pasted a piece of decorated paper on the left border. Then I stamped the solid butterflies and the detailed images with three different colors of ink: Green Hills, Tide Pool and Orange Soda Shadow Ink Mid-Tone by Hero Arts. I only kept the body of the butterflies with a single color, Tangerine Bold Ink by Hero Arts – the same color that I used to create a splatter. The sentiment was stamped with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink.

If you like any of the products I used on my card, please stop over at the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store. You can use the code Martha15 to receive 15% off of a $25.00 order.

a2z Scrapbooking has a Twitter, Instagram and Facebook page. Follow us on these different social media outlets so you won’t miss out on any of the promotions!

I hope I have inspired you to join the challenge this month! You will have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the store! See you soon!

Floral Border Silhouette

Hi, friends, Chark here today to share one of my favorites right now, the Hero Arts Floral Border Die. It’s delicate and spring-like and makes a gorgeous silhouette when cut from black cardstock.

IMG_3590

For the background, I used Distress Inks and applied the ink pads to a nonstick craft sheet. Then I spritzed with a lot of water and ran the cardstock through the ink. I let the panel dry and then trimmed it to fit behind the die cut.

I stamped the sentiment and swirl from the Color Layering Peacock Stamp set and adhered the whole panel to a card base. It was easy to do and pretty quick. If you want to speed up your ink drying time, you can use a heat gun and it would be even quicker. It looks like you took a lot of time and effort but it really is a fast and easy card.

Hope you’ll join in our monthly challenge Getting to Know You (using your favorite Hero Arts products). You can win $25 to the store! I think my favorite die says I’m fond of flowers and sunsets. Do you think the black against the color looks a little like the trees against the setting sun? I do!

Happy Monday!

Nesting Oval Dies Make Great Easter Eggs

Hi, friends, Chark here today and I’m sharing this Easter Birthday card I made with a digital stamp and the Nesting Oval Infinity Dies for the eggs. I have four of the Distress Oxide inks and I spent the whole day and part of the next playing with them.

First I used Squeezed Lemonade smooshed on the nonstick craft sheet and spritzed with water and dragged the card through it. Then I did the same technique using Mermaid Lagoon and a little Faded Jeans and cut a large oval. Then I added the sentiment in Faded Jeans oxide ink. They stamp beautifully too.

IMG_3515

I created the Easter eggs by laying the stencil down and then pressing the Oxide inks (Worn Lipstick and Faded Jeans) through the stencil with a makeup sponge. Then I spritzed with water while the stencil was still in place.

I removed the stencil and let them dry. Then I used the regular Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade and Cracked Pistachio to paint the white parts the stencil left. I just put the ink on the nonstick mat and used a wet brush to apply.

I cut them out with the smaller ovals in the Infinity Die set to seem egg-sized.

IMG_3513

Lastly, I printed the butterflies out and then dragged them through Oxide inks on the nonstick mat to color. I didn’t spritz them with water afterward like I did the eggs.

That’s it! I had fun making paper Easter Eggs for this card and trying out the Oxide inks with the regular Distress Inks…they play well together!

Hope you join in our new monthly challenge here.

Happy Sunday!

Hero Arts CL867 Color Layering Butterflies Card

Hi – Sue here with a new card for you.

Here’s my card

I’m really enjoying the Hero Arts Ink Cubes – less of an investment and with each collection, you get 4 colours. I used many collections, listed below to create the card. I focused on using two shades of the same colour for each of the butterflies. It seemed like it was a bit too plain so I put some of the ink on an acrylic block, spritzed it with water and the flicked some of the ink onto the card for a splatter-like look. This is a nice work-around when you don’t have any sprays. It added just a bit of interest to the background.

There are a few days left for you to join us this month for our

playing-with-stencils

Please be sure that your focal image uses a Hero Arts product. If you’re looking for Hero Arts products, check out the a2z Scrapbooking etsy store. When your cart reaches $25, use my code Sue15 for 15% off.

Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies Frame Cuts

Stenciling is this month’s challenge.  I made my own stencil here.

stencil-a2z-logo-challenge

The second page to my notebook (still not sure what I’m calling it) has a patterned base and two pockets.  On top of the top layer, I stamped different words and phrases over a homemade stenciled background, while on the base I used a couple of the images in my home made stencil   If you don’t have a stencil you want to use, you can make one to your liking by using your dies.   The first image is my page without the tabbed notes inserted in the pockets.  The top pocket is on tape.

I added my tabbed notccards into the pockets so I know what I’ve worked on and ideas for the future.

Lapel Pin with Hero Arts Butterfly Dies

Hi, Friends, it’s Chark today with a felt project. I needed a new pin for my coat after the Santa pin came off so I decided to try making a butterfly pin. After die cutting butterflies from felt in different colors, I put two together and added some rhinestones.
img_3133

You can sew or use fabric glue to adhere the butterflies together for these pins. I suggest hot glue to attach the pin back, since it just needs to be strong and not pretty.

img_3141

I love trying different materials with the dies and have used wood paper, acetate, felt and cork. So far, they all cut beautifully with the Big Shot.

Hope you’ll try some fun die cutting soon and remember, you can enter that or any other Hero Arts project in our January Anything Goes challenge here.

Happy Tuesday!

Tag Me With Coloring Layering Butterflies

I thought of silver butterflies; I don’t know why.  But I went with it and I was happily surprised at the results.  The silver embossing just shines, but I couldn’t catch the sparkle just right.  I hope you enjoy the butterflies just flitting by on these tags.

Hero Arts – An Oldie but a Goodie

Hi Dawn here.  I am waiting for my new goodies from the latest catalogue to make their way to New Zealand, so today for our Color it Challenge, I am sharing an older Hero Arts stamp set (discontinued)  I am sure many of you will have this in your stash as it is an all time favourite butterfly set!

IMG_1934

I made this for the Hero Arts Flickr group Scramble.  I stamp the butterflies all over my background and added is some 2nd generation stamped dragonflies.   I coloured up the butterflies going up the page, with some vibrant Zig Clean Color brush markers in blues and grey.   The sentiment was white embossed onto black card.  It comes from the Hello Stamp and Cut set (available HERE  in our A2Z Scrapbooking Store).  Some Spectrum Noir sparkle pen, a simple blue mat and it’s all done.

Be sure to check out the Store…. there are LOTS of goodies there.  Remember  if you are in need of any items  you can use code Dawn15 at checkout to receive 15% off your purchase of $25 or more.
