Celebrate Tag Stamp Set and Flutterbies Butterfly Digital by Hero Arts

Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a beautiful butterfly! This is one of my favorites butterflies and I said favorites because it come in a kit. This is a digital Kit called Hero Arts Flutterbies Printable/ Butterfly Digital Kit and it is simply amazing. Take a look at my card:

Celebrate Tag Stamp Set and Flutterbies Butterfly Digital by Hero Arts

Creating this card was very fun and easy, because I printed the Hero Arts Flutterbies Printable/ Butterfly Digital Kit in Very Vanilla and Whisper White card stock so I have it ready to use whenever I want. I just have to paint the butterfly that I want to use and fussy cut with my scissors.

  1. Cut the base of the card using Very Vanilla card stock. The size is 4-1/4″x11″ with score in 5-1/2″
  2. Using a decorated die cut to create a frame and paste over the card base using dimensionals or zapdots.
  3. Print the Hero Arts Flutterbies Printable/ Butterfly Digital Kit and choose your favorite. I used one of the small size
  4. Paint the butterfly using Copic Markers and fussy cut with your scissors.
  5. Stamp your sentiment using a message from the set Celebrate Tag Stamp & Cut by Lia using Hero Arts Memories Black Dye Ink
  6. Paste the butterfly over the card base using dimensionals or zapdots.

Hero Arts Layering Butterflies Switch Up

Hi,

A few days ago when preparing my post I had an idea of using the layers of the Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies differently.  So today I am sharing what I did.  Okay…actually it is less dramatic than you think!  LOL

I basically used the pattern layer of the small butterfly on the large solid butterfly and vise versa.  The results are fun indeed!

a2z_20160722_Layering_butterflies_switch_up

My process:

  • On white panel layer Hero Arts Kelly’s Floral Tile Stencil, sponge Hero Arts Ombre Ink Butter to Orange to create an ombre effect.
  • Next layer Hero Arts Large Lotus Pattern Stencil over, sponge Ranger Distress Ink Squeezed Lemonade.
  • Trim vellum and layer over the background.
  • Die cut 4 flowers using Hero Arts Scallop Frame Cut, stamp the flower center using small stamp from Hero Arts Printed Flower clear set with Ranger Distress Ink Crushed Olive.  Adhere onto vellum overlay panel.
  • On white card stock, ink and stamp large and small solid butterfly shape.  Then ink and stamp the small butterfly pattern on large butterfly shape.  Ink and stamp the large butterfly pattern on small butterfly shapes.  Fussy cut closely, distress the edge and center.  Glue die cut bodies onto the butterflies.
  • Adhere onto vellum overlay panel,  glue panel to white card base.

I hope I’ve inspired you to try to mix and match with your layering stamps.  The results could be unexpectedly pleasant.  Go ahead and play.  Don’t have any layering stamp, go shopping at the a2z store.  Use code Cindy15 to get 15% off any purchases $25 and more (shipping excluded) at check out.

Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies on Charcoal

Hi everybody,

Cindy here today to share another way to layer the Hero Art Color Layering Butterflies.

a2z_ha_layering_butterflies

As you can see, this beautiful set has two butterfly shapes and corresponding layers.  And I am sure you have seem many beautiful cards made with this set, but what happen if I interchange the layers?  Wow the possibilities!!  An idea just popped up in my head… I know what I would do for my next post!!  🙂

But for today, I have a card and a tag to show you.

a2z_20160719_layering_butterflies

I don’t know about you, but sometime when I stamp with my white ink the impressions are not very clear.  So I decided to hit the inked stamp with Perfect Pearl solution before pressing it onto my card stock.  I love how it turned out.  I get a tiny weenie bit of shine, and also a slight ombre effect too!   Because I could never get the spritz right in the middle.  It’s always to the left, to the right, on my hand instead of the stamp..you know?!  LOL

a2z_20160719_layering_butterflies_closeup

My process:

  • Trim a Hero Arts Charcoal Notecards into 4 1/8 by 5 3/8 inch panel.
  • Ink various images from the Hero Arts Stamp My Own Plants clear set with Hero Arts Unicorn White Pigment Ink, spritz with Perfect Pearl solution and stamp on charcoal panel as shown.
  • Stamp sentiment from Hero Arts Hello Sunshine Daisies clear set with white pigment ink and heat emboss with white EP.
  • On white card stock, ink and stamp the solid layers butterflies (kissed with die cut optional), closely trim or use the Color Layering Butterflies Frame Cut to cut out.  **Note: I use another die cut for the butterfly’s body.
  • Layer the charcoal panel onto a Hero Arts Snow White Folded Card.
  • Glue the butterfly layers together and adhere to card front.

I was experimenting and the first panel didn’t quite worked, so I trimmed part of it out, I stamp just the pattern layer of the small butterfly in the background and made it into a tag.

I had lots of fun layering my butterflies.   Go get your stamp set at the a2z store.  Use my promote code Cindy15 to get 15% off your purchases of $25 or more (excluding shipping).  If butterflies’ not your cup of tea, there are many other beautiful color layering sest in the store.  Didn’t find what you want, click the Request Custom Order button on the left side bar.  Easy peasy!  😉

Color Layering Butterflies ~ Hero Arts

It’s an ANYTHING GOES month here at a2z Scrapbooking. Sometimes that makes things easier and sometimes I just like a bit of direction with a specific challenge – what about you?

I started by stamping the butterfly “inners”. I decided that I would have 3 butterflies on the left, with slightly different orientations.

Color Layering Butterfly

Then, I added the second layer to the butterfly by aligning the stamp over the initial stamped “inners,” trying to keep an even border around.

1066A

This is what the card looked after this second step.

1067A

Next, added the butterflies body and antenna. When stamping, I tried to keep the “head” slightly above the body.

1068A

It felt that I need to add something more, so I cut out masks from yellow post-it notes and covered the stamped butterflies.

1069A

Oops – I forgot to take a picture of the next steps. I added the sentiment from the same stamp set. With ink blending tools and tumbled glass distress ink, I added color. The masks were required so that the broken china color didn’t cover the stamped butterflies. I removed the masks and then added a bit of broken china on the edge of an acrylic block. With a water brush, I flung ink splots (is that a real word?) over the card in a random fashion.

1077A

Hope you’ll join us at our  July – Anything Goes Challenge

You’ll need to use a Hero Arts stamp, stencil, die or digi as your main element and you could win a $25 gift code to the a2z Scrapbooking store.

How would you like a 15% discount off of purchases of more than $25 at a2z Scrapbooking store? Use my code Sue15 for that 15% discount.

Vellum Swallowtail Butterfly

vellum swallowtail main

Hi everyone, it’s Angie here with another card for the “To Die For” challenge going on over at a2zscrapbooking!  It’s not too late to enter, but hurry!  You could win a $25 gift certificate to the a2zscrapbooking store!  Woohoo!  Just remember to use one main Hero Arts product to be eligible to win!

I took a piece of vellum that I received in the last Hero Arts kit and ran it through my Big Shot with a floral embossing folder then adhered it to my card base.  I cut one butterfly out of the card and a second one from black card stock so I could inlay the die.  I added a few gems from Hero Arts and then added a black strip with a heat embossed sentiment from an older set – Hero Arts Messages with Flourishes.

Here’s a list of the supplies I used:

Inlaid die cutting with Hero Arts Frame Cut

Hello hello,

June’s challenge theme here at a2z is “To Die For”, so I am trying different ways to use my cutting dies.  And I am inspired to use the Inlaid Die Cutting technique.  For my card today, I’ve also decorated the inside.

a2z_20160619_butterfly_frame_cut_c

a2z_20160619_butterfly_frame_cut_in

My process:

  • On a pink (with stripe) pattern paper same size as card base, use pencil to lightly mark where the three butterfly die should go.
  • Die cut three butterflies (from the Flower and Butterfly Frame Cut) using green pattern paper, put aside.
  • Die cut butterfly on left edge and right edge first, set the cut outs aside.  Secure corresponding green butterflies in place.
  • Die cut the center butterfly.  Secure the green pattern die cut in place.
  • Die cut with stitched rectangle.
  • Adhere all pieces to card front.
  • Stamps sentiment (from the Flower and Butterfly Frame Cut) and sequins (from the Stamp and Cut Congrats set) to card front.
  • Use clear glaze pen to highlight the stamped sequins.
  • Glue the pink butterfly cut out inside the card along the center fold.  Stamp the body of the butterfly from the Color Layering Butterfly set.
  • Stamp greeting inside card.

Hop over to my blog to see who inspired me and check out a second card I did using this technique.

I hope I’ve inspired you to join in the challenge, you could win a $25 gift card to the a2z Scrapbooking Supplies Store.

The Flower and Butterfly Frame Cut I used for this card is on sale right now for half price (reg. $15 sale $7.50).  Use code Cindy15 at check out to get 15% off your purchase $25 or over (shipping excluded).

Butterfly Pair from Hero Arts

Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a summer card that I made using the Butterfly Pair Stamp & Cut set from Hero Arts. A great combination of stamps and die cuts in one package! Take a look at my card:

Butterfly Pair from Hero Arts

To make this card I used one of the easiest and most classic techniques, masking. And I only used the big butterfly included on the stamp set and some of the sentiments because this set is really for all occasions.

  1. I cut the base using Whisper White card stock. The size is 4-1/4″x11″ with score in 5-1/2″.
  2. Then I cut the second layer using the same card stock. The size is 4-1/4″x5-1/2″
  3. Using one of the Stitched Hillside Borders of Lawn Fawn I cut the lower part of the second layer.
  4. I stamped the bigger butterfly over both pieces using the masking technique and Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
  5. Then I colored each butterfly using different colors of Copic Markers.
  6. With the big die cut included on the Butterfly Pair Stamp & Cut Set I cut partially two of the butterflies to create dimension.
  7. Then I pasted both parts of the layers over the card base using zapdots or dimensionals.
  8. I stamped a message using a combination of words included on the Butterfly Pair Stamp & Cut Set.

Butterfly Pair from Hero Arts

Creating this card was very easy. And the colors are perfect for this summer!

I hope my project inspired you and that you come back with your project to participate in our To Die For Challenge. Remember that you can find all the materials that I used in this card in a2z Scrapbooking Supplies Storeand if for some reason you didn’t find what you are looking you have the possibility to make a special order. Hero Arts Butterfly Fancy Dies

Hero Arts Coloring Layering Butterflies Just For You

This is something a little bit different for me – using part of a die on purpose.  I used that wonderful large Hero Arts Butterfly die to cut out part of a panel of graded colored paper, my stash from a great buy at Michaels a couple years back.  The first card, my butterfly die took a big piece of paper with it.  I wonder where it went.  I popped the panel up on form tape and it is amazing in real life.  I used the die that goes with a new butterfly stamp set with it’s sentiment to finish this card.

Hero Arts Butterfly Fancy Dies

Do you realize that the butterfly on this card is the cut-out from the panel above/  Doesn’t even look like it, does it?  It’s not the photographing either.  The cards really do look the way they appear on this post.  The butterfly was such a soft color that I went with softer colors for background.  I have added one item here that is not Hero Arts, but some hearts from the Elizabeth Craft Designs Poppy the Owl die cut set.  I’ve found these hearts to be a perfect size in several of my future cards.  I cut the hearts from the same panel as the butterfly.

Hero Arts Butterfly Fancy Die

I don’t often use a negative of the die because I use every space on my paper, no extra paper goes into the trash unless it’s beyond use.  This is an exception to the rule.   I hope you enjoy and bring out your negative side, just as I did.  For once, having a negative side isn’t so bad.

Please join our monthly challenge “TO DIE FOR”

My next “To Die For” card will be on June 20th.
