Hero Arts Flowering Magnolia in White

This month the A2Z Scrapbooking challenge is “Birthday Bash”.  I switched from silver embossing powder to white for this card and tag.  I have seen so many cards in silvers and white, that I couldn’t pass up trying the white embossing and I’m calling this the “white edition”. I decided a nice tag would be perfect to accompany the card and birthday gift.

Even though the distress color looks different on the tag, the same distress ink was used and the tag is the more realistic color shown.

Hero Arts Layered Topiary Bouquet

Happy Monday everybody,

I am using my “creative license” today and stretch my Hero Arts Layered Topiary stamp to stamp a bouquet.

I stamped the individual part of the topiary with pinks, purples and oranges, then die cut using the matching frame cut.  They became the ‘flowers’ of my bouquet.  Since the ‘flowers’  is quite busy I didn’t want the leaves to compete with it, so I stamped the majority of them using shadow ink and two sprigs in distress ink.   Next I stamped the sentiment in black.  The panel is then die cut using Nesting Postage Stamp Infinity Die, and adhered to a pattern paper panel which is glued to a white card base.  I mounted the ‘flowers’ using various heights of foam adhesive to give it some dimension, and embellished with a few sequins.

Hero Arts Dragonfly Fancy – Be Happy Card

Hi! Nice to see you here. It’s Sue and I have a new card for you. I get mesmerized by dragonflies in nature. I love how they dart around and I love how they shimmer in the sunlight. I tried to capture some of the shimmer and sparkle of a dragonfly using sparkly teal cardstock for the outline and silver shimmer cardstock for the solid dragonfly background.

For the background of the card, I tried distress oxides for the first time. I understood that it was important to dry each layer completely before adding a new layer. It’s a unique property of the distress oxides. I started with glossy cardstock and distress oxides (salty ocean, broken china and faded jeans). Using an acrylic sheet, I smooshed each of the distress oxides and spritzed water. I dipped the glossy paper into the puddles of color. I then used my heat tool to dry the panel. I repeated the process a few times, until I was happy with the result. By drying each layer, the addition of new oxide ink and water, doesn’t re-activate the underlying layer, so you’re able to layer the colors. I felt that the background looked like the sky with some clouds.

I used dimensionals to pop the dragonfly up on the background. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Special Birthday Digital kit.

Dragonfly Fancy Die by Hero Arts

I am so in love with this Dragonfly Fancy Die from Hero Arts—it’s detailed but not crazy detailed so you don’t have to baby it when you die cut it from your machine, and it looks good just about every way you try.

I’ve cut it from black paper, white cardstock, glitter paper, metallic paper, vellum, sticker paper, patterned paper, watercolor paper and more. It’s so versatile and you can get a lot of uses from it. I think it’s a beautiful way to do Sympathy, Thinking of You, Birthday and Hello cards. To make this dragonfly, I die cut the insect from gold metallic paper and used acetate (dripped with alcohol inks) as the wings.

For my cards, I’ve left off the sentiment to be stamped inside later. I think the gold glitter paste with the stencil and the dragonfly is all the card front needs. It’s pretty striking on its own. I love how the acetate/alcohol inks give it a stained glass look.

For this card, I die cut the dragonfly from black paper and used some Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors dripped onto watercolor paper for the wing backing. It’s definitely a different look, but still striking in a different way. The pool card and gold stenciling is the same as the first card.

A Blog Named Hero is back! They have a new challenge up and two prizes available…the theme is Use Your Fave Hero Arts and since this Dragonfly die is now officially my fave, I’m entering the top card with the gold dragonfly in the challenge. You can join me here.

Pop over to my blog to see more dragonflies with different papers and wings on this post at Glitter in my Kitchen.

Happy Wednesday!

Hero Arts Everything Smiles Hello

Happy Friday everybody,

Cindy here to share a couple projects featuring the Hero Arts Everything Smiles Stamp and Cut.  I love using the small stamp to create my own background, and this set is perfect for that.

I picked some happy colors and stamped the small icons all over a white card panel.  The tiny stars from the Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Thanks set.  I layered this panel on a black panel and then onto a card base.  The ‘hello’ from the Everything Smiles set is white heat embossed on black card stock, and die cut with the larger speech bubble die.  This is mounted with foam adhesive.  I stamped and hand cut the smiley cupcake and glue onto the  speech bubble and added Nuvo crystal drop on the frosting.   This card could double up as a birthday card too.

When I first saw this set in the Hero Arts 2018 Catalog I wanted it to use in my planner.  But, I admit, I am just too lazy to take the stamp out and stamp in my planner and then clean up and put away.   So I thought why not make some stickers I can store in a pocket in my planner and they can be use instantly!  Ding!

I first glue some Stick It adhesive onto white card stock that measures 4 by 4 1/4.  Then I used the two small banner cutting die from the Papel Picardo Frame Cut and die cut 16 banners (one per each smiley icon).  The I popped it back into the cut out slots and secure them with some washi tape in the back.  Next I stamp all the icons and colored with Copic markers.  Ta da!  Now I can just take the banner out, remove the backing (of the Stick it) and add into my planner.

Hero Arts Mermaid Kisses Birthday

Hello,

Cindy here today to share a couple birthday cards.  I used my new Mermaid Kisses Clear Stamp and matching Mermaid Kisses Frame Cut plus some mix and match of other sets to create my cards.

For my backgrounds, I used the same stencil but with slightly different ways.

On the first one, I wet a watercolor panel with water then I lay the Long Leave Stencil and press down to ensure the stencil is sticking to the paper.  Then I brush various watercolors in the negative space, after it dried I stamped the coral and seaweed.  I thought it turned out pretty cool.  By the way I left the stencil on the watercolor panel while it dries, this is to ensure the watercolors don’t run into the positive space after I remove it.  I hope this makes sense to you.

The sentiment is stamped using ombre ink Tide Pool to Navy and clear heat embossed.  The mermaid, star fishes, seahorses and small fishes are stamped with Jet Black and watercolored, then die cut.  To add a bit of shine I brushed some area with Clear Wink of Stella.

And here’s a close up so you could see the shimmer on the mermaid’s body.

I also did a bit of stamping inside the card.

For the second one, I colored my watercolor first then lay the stencil on top and I soak up the color from the negative spaces.  This gives a more subtle look.

Remember there are new stock in the a2z store, from the 2018 Hero Arts Catalog.  If you don’t see the supply I used in the store, just make a request and it would be ordered just for you.

Hero Arts Scribble Coffees

Happy Thursday everyone,

I am still playing with my ‘new to me’ Hero Arts Scribble Bold Print cling stamp, it’s less than a month old so I say it is still new.  LOL

I first stamped the Scribble background with various distress ink on white card stock.  Then I die cut my coffee cups (using Hero Arts Nesting Teacup Infinity Dies) and distressd the edges using matching inks.  On a kraft panel I created coffee cup rings with distress ink, and dots/splash with water color.  Then I stamped and clear embossed the sentiment (from the Color Layering Butterflies set) and use foam tape to adhere the stacked cups and saucer.   Want to know where my saucer comes from?!  🙂  It the bottom of a large cup from the same infinity dies set.  🙂  Then the kraft panel goes onto a regular card base.

I think with enough coffee one’s heart would flutter?!  😀  Have you play our January Challenge yet?  Scroll down and check the details.

Hero Arts Ornaments Infinity Lantern

Hi everybody,

I am so excited to share my project with you today, I used my Ornaments Infinity Dies to make not ornament but a faux lantern.  I am inspired by the Chinese Lantern Festival (which falls on March 2nd this year).

We all want to stretch our craft supplies right?  Last year I made some 3D ornaments using this same set of die, you could see them in this post.  And I thought to improve the shape of my ornaments, such as this one.

So I use one of the medium dies and make a prototype like this.

Instead of just scoring and folding down the center, I scored two lines leaving some space in the center.  I think it does look a lot better.  To tie the twine, I used a flower die cut using a die from the Hero Arts Frame Cut – Scallop Frame set and glue it over the top.  Now I just need to choose some color card stock to make or do some stamping on the white Cs before die cutting the pieces.  And those would be my next holiday project!!  Yay.

Next I experimented with a different die, and while doing that I thought why not expand the scope and made faux lantern?

I die cut six times the ornament shape, mark and score a rectangle area (see photo below), folded and glue together the edges.  To cover the top for the twine, I die cut the large snowflake from Hero Arts Frame Cut – Small and Large Snowflake set.  And it fitted perfectly.

And then I went ahead with my faux lantern, I used the largest die from the Ornaments Infinity Dies set.  By now I think you got the idea of the basic steps so I will skip the ‘how to’ and go right ahead to show you the end result.

Here’s a little video to show how it looks all around.

Hero Arts Scribble Teacup

Hello,

It’s Cindy here.  My card today I created using a ‘new to me’ Hero Arts Scribble Bold Print cling stamp and a new ink alongside some oldies.

I first stampped the Scribble Background using my new ink (Tumble Glass) on white card stock and clear heat embossed.  Then I trimmed it to fit the Egg Shell Folded Card (from the Earth Folded Card pack) and adhered panel to the card base.

Next on white card stock I stamped and gold heat embossed the letters (from Ribbon Letters by Lia), the heart (from Love by Lia), and the birdie tag (from Forever).  I hand cut the letters and heart, and die cut the cup out of the tag using the Nesting Tea Cups Infinity Dies.

I adhere all the items to Scribble Bold Print panel using foam adhesive.

The ‘greater than’ sign is actually the sideway “V”.  I thought this design and color combinations could make a lovely Valentine’s Day card for both genders.

Hero Arts Holiday Houses and Tree-Mendous Trees

Getting ready for Christmas?  I am and I have to think of different ways to give gift cards to some of the people on my list, such as my sons and granddaughter.    I have used the Elizabeth Craft Designs die cut sled die with Hero Arts Tree-Mendous and Holiday Houses digital kits for some really cute cards, in my opinion.

Join in on the Winter challenge at A2Z Scrapbooking.  I have several photos of the cards I worked on for my kids.  I used a 12: X 12″ pattern paper for the card (not very flashy, but the inside is where the card shines.

This is the inside of two of the four cards I made.  The blue pool reminds me of  southern California in the winter, when it’s still a bit chilly for us northern Californians to frequent out pools, though I did swim in an outdoor pool here in Sacramento at American River College (nice and heated).  A lane leads up to the door and a Ho Ho Ho sentiment with a place for a note finishes the inside off. .I just love using that Nuvo Crystal Drops white (I’m using the Simply White and I see the A2Z Scrapbooking store has sold out of their white Nuvo. at the moment.  The bottles go a long way.
