April Fold Card With Sugartree Hug in a Mug

Arlene here and I have a little (not so little) plastic folder with images in different sizes so that I can use them in the future and they sometimes prompt my creative brain (not the one usually in use) to go with the flow.  This is exactly what happened here.  I cut out the cup and chose the color of cardstock, cut it and went on from there.  I thought I’d sweeten the cup with sugar and saw red yet again.  I searched my ribbon box and came up with that great red and green plaid and added the other ribbon to liven up the design.  I wasn’t sure about lining up the top tag, but went with it on a slight diagonal.  It is pretty awesome in real life.  Hoping this inspires you to get your fold on!

I am at A Bit of This and That if you’d like to visit.

Hero Arts Words of Love

February is here and I wanted to show you how I keep my schedules for my DT work.  I used Hero Arts digital “Words of Love” as well as “Notes and Dates” to make my schedule for 2019.  It feels fresh and bright.  I love looking at this page and making entries on my insert.

There’s quite a contrast to 2018 and I LIKE IT.  I loved the flower when I made it, but I’m lovin’ the Words of Love.

The dark color is a gray, but this is a mood board, not a color board.  I couldn’t tell for sure because the box looks navy blue to me.

Hero Arts Christmas Mice is a Holiday Treat

I just had to make another card with my Christmas Mice because they are so just so darn cute.  I’ll be ready with a good start on my Xmas cards for next year, won’t I?  The sentiment “Holiday Treats for You” is perfect for a mouse eating a cookie.

Hero Arts Gingerbread House Stamp and Cut Just For You

I think these houses are so festive and the background I made from two dies which added to the spacial aspect of the card.  It’s whimsical and so very cute.

I used an edging die as a background on which to build my houses.  I sent this off to Annie Collins and she has received it so I can reveal my card.  To see how I decorated the inside of the card be sure to stop by my blog at A Bit of This and That

A close-up of the houses.  They really do take on the Christmas charm colored this way.

Hero Arts Christmas Mice and Binders

I was happy with my old system of keeping my dies in a long plastic container with most of my dies where I knew they should be until my system broke down, TOO MANY DIES.  Yes, I actually said that.  BUT I did NOT toss any dies. NO DIES WERE HARMED IN THIS PROCESS.   I JUST changed the way I kept them.

I figured I wanted something about 5 inches by 7 inches because most of the dies came in packages about that size, but not anything too much bigger.  And I found something at one of our local paper stores.  First I found the sleeves which are 8 1/2″ tall by 5 1/2″ wide.  After looking at several different binders that would accommodate that size sleeve,  I ended up with ten (10) binders in all.

  • TIP: Decide what you want in a binder
  • Binder Spine – Tab in a sleeve or use a label to tape onto the binder spine  (I went with the Tab in a sleeve)
  • Front of Binder – Sleeve with room for paper to identify what is in the binder or not sleeve, but you can tape some paper on top of the binder (I went with the sleeve on the front so I could easily change when I add or remove or change dies to another binder.)

I purchased a binder that was cheaper without a spine tab or sleeve on the front, but realized it wasn’t really what I wanted.   I will use the two binders for something else in the future, but went back and picked up 10 binders at about $1.50 more each and found they were also made better and would last longer.  That’s just my two cents, as they say.

I don’t have my Dies sorted by brand, but by type from Christmas and Holidays to Scenes and Letters & #s.  I have ten (10) binders in all.   If I change a die or dies to another binder, it’s easy to change the front cover because I can take it out and put a new typed sheet in the front sleeve.

Here are a couple of my stamp and die combination sets.  I keep the stamps and dies in one sleeve so they are together and easy to find.

Below are the new Christmas Mice dies on the back side of the stamp set . When I stamp and die-cut images, I put them into a small plastic bag that closes which goes into the same sleeve as the stamp and die set.

The new Holiday Greenery Edge Fancy Die has its own place of honor in my Christmas Binder with some die-cuts already to go..

I don’t have every die listed on the front unless there is room to do so.  I based binder names on the length of the name I could fit on the exposed binder side when stored and placed all brands in that binder.  I made a list of all dies in each binder and put those lists in sheet protectors with a metal ring to keep them together.  Anytime I’m not sure of what is in a binder, I pick up my lists.  Now that I’m thinking about it, I just may put that list into alphabetical order with the name of the book so I can just look something up alphabetically.  See, there’s always another way of doing things.

The card below published November 3rd is the result of using my binders to hold dies and die-cuts.

Remember to use my discount code Arlene15 to get 15% off your purchase of $25 or more.

A2Z Scrapbooking Haunted Halloween

Hi everyone! An October kind of card for sure.  Be sure to join our challenge here at a2z Scrapbooking Blog! Our challenge this month is Frightfully Fun!   We know everyone loves this particular theme and we’re happy to indulge you! Create whatever your heart desires!

Arlene here.  Sometimes I don’t know what size I want to work with and with a digital stamp, you can try different sizes at will.  The digital haunted house kit has so many options and I really like this house.  I had cut out the house and left it on my desk just in case, yes, in case I wanted to use it.  I had purchased the Holiday Greenery Edge Fancy Die with an eye to its versatility in use.  Cut it in green for both spring, summer and winter, spring with spring colors on the flowers, winter with red flowers and NOW, in black for a creepy vine.

The hint of pink in the photo is not real, this is a black and white card with dots of Nuvo on the vines.

Don’t forget about your discount code Arlene15 to get 15% off your purchase of $25 or more at A2Z Scrapbooking and look for my post at A Bit of This and That.

Hero Arts Haunted Halloween at A2Z

Black and white is haunting too.  I was going to color the background, but couldn’t get past the black and white phase.

I couldn’t get past stark and bold.  Below the photos are instructions on how I put this card together.

And do remember to use my discount code Arlene15 to get 15% off your purchase of $25 or more.  Follow me to A2Z Scrapbooking to enter the challenge of Frightfully Fun.

Close-up

I printed out the haunted house from an A2Z Scrapbooking digital kit, Haunted Digital Kit, Halloween about a month ago.  I usually die cut an image so I don’t have a large sheet, but smaller, more manageable pieces of paper, either squares, rectangles or sometimes circles, depending on the image.  I sort through them to see if an idea pops up.  POP!

I used the second largest scallop die in both white and black, scored at the top, folded and adhered together. Listed below are the papers:

  • Black schallop
  • White scallop
  • Black cardstock with white dots Postage Stamp Squares
  • White panel with printed haunted house

I popped up the “BOO” and added the stickers.  I rarely have a card come together so fast, but the image did have to sit for a month.  You can see my post at A Bit of This and That.

CAS Greenery Hugs

Hi,

Cindy here to share a CAS sympathy/friendship card.  Today’s card features the Hero Arts Holiday Greenery Edge Fancy Die.  This die is so pretty and so delicate.

On white card stock (trimmed to fit a A2 card) I did dry embossing on the top and lower edge using the Fancy Die and an embossing mat.   I mount this onto a white A2 card base.  Next I adhere the heart die cut (with white heat embossed sentiment and faux stitches) in the center of the card with foam adhesive.  Then I die cut using a different color card stock, trim part of the die cut (with coat of Perfect Pearl) and use to embellish the heart die cut.

Have you  join in our CAS challenge yet?  I hope I’ve inspired you to play along!  Scroll down to find more details.

Hero Arts In The Study

A2Z Scrapbooking has a challenge that makes everyone happy – it’s ANYTHING GOES.  I so enjoy the images of “In the Study and especially the chair.  With a title like Chapter 1, you could write a manuscript or just a pick-up note. Just as you can make a card without the matching dies, the matching dies are so marvelous to move around to create whatever scene you want.

Hero Arts Flowering Magnolia in White

This month the A2Z Scrapbooking challenge is “Birthday Bash”.  I switched from silver embossing powder to white for this card and tag.  I have seen so many cards in silvers and white, that I couldn’t pass up trying the white embossing and I’m calling this the “white edition”. I decided a nice tag would be perfect to accompany the card and birthday gift.

Even though the distress color looks different on the tag, the same distress ink was used and the tag is the more realistic color shown.
