Words of Love Digital Duel

Hi, friends, today we have two fab team members dueling it out with the Hero Arts Words of Love digi stamps. Each month on the 11th, two team members will take the same digital stamp set (which is the monthly prize for our challenge) and see who can turn the stamps into the best project. While there are no swords and no real winners, it’s always a blast to see how two different designers take the same stamp and make it their own. We get inspiration from both projects, so I guess we’re the winners!

This month the digi is Words of Love and if you enter our challenge, you could be the randomly drawn winner of this February prize.  If want this one sooner, you can hop over to the store and pick it up for just $6.49! You can use any manufacturer’s products to enter for this versatile digi, but if you use Hero Arts products and you’re randomly chosen, you’ll win BOTH the digi set AND a $20 gift code to the store.

Hero Arts Digital Birthday Bash DK014

Hi! Sue here with a new card for you today. I’ve been trying out some Hero Arts digital kits available at the a2z Scrapbooking etsy store. I copy and paste the digital file into MS Word, size the image and print on cardstock. I add color with Copic markers. I tried using other markers. However, I’ve learned that with my inkjet printer, water based markers make the ink bleed. So, alcohol markers, it is.

Here’s my card

I printed out both “text balloons black” and “word is out black” and cut them to size. I matted both panels with colored cardstock, matching a couple of the balloons.

Hero Arts Vintage Travel can be a Love Thing

Just wanted to let you know that A2Z Scrapbooking now has the new release from Hero Arts.  My products have already shipped and I can’t wait to create.  Be sure to visit A2Z for your Hero Arts fix.  I provided a link right here so you can jump right into see the new stamps.

You don’t have to use hearts to show you appreciate and love someone.  How about a vintage car?

You never know what will precipitate the making of a card.  I had a pink cloud, red oval die-cut and black sentiment die-cut “wonderful” on my desk.  Voilà,  here you have the result.

Close-Up

Even though I colored the car in reds, they are yellow reds and so stand out against the oval red paper.  The darker red, such as the door,is a mix of gray and yellow red.

Please join the challenge at A2Z Scrapbooking.  You can catch me at A Bit of This and That.

Masculine Card with Vintage Travel

A friend’s dad recently had a card shower for his 90th birthday—and he looks fab! I decided to make a vintage car card…love this image, it’s detailed and shaded but you can still hand-color parts of it. So I broke out the Prismacolor pencils and went to town…then I fussy cut the car.

I layered maroon cardstock with the woodgrain vellum and gold washi and gold paper for the sentiment. I die cut the vellum with a stitched rectangle die for a little extra texture. The woodgrain vellum is nice and thick for vellum, with a ton of texture and it takes color from inks well too. I’ve stenciled on top with Distress inks and it works great!

The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Birthday Messages set. It’s a great versatile stamp set and you can custom order it at no extra cost…and also get 15% off your cart of $25 or more when you use my coupon code below!

Here’s a close-up so you can see the vellum texture…yummy, huh? And it comes out the package all ready to use.

Thanks for stopping by!

City Adventures Valentine

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today to show you some digital stamps I turned into cards. I took the City Adventures digital stamps and printed the city silhouette onto dull (not glossy) coated paper twice. After that, I used Distress Oxides to color the backgrounds. I used a lots of water to mix and swirl the colors. When I was happy with them, I let them dry.

il_570xN.632085423_21g6

I did wipe down the silhouette with a paper towel to get the Oxide inks off the black images, but it worked fine. You’ll notice I moved the cityscape to one side for the Valentine so I could put in the sentiment and hearts.

IMG_5682

For one of the cards, I added a birthday sentiment to one card and to the other one, I added a digital sentiment and digital hearts from The Firmament digi kit. In this close-up you can see the Silver Stickles I used for the stars.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

Birthday Bash with Guest Mary Polanco

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today to introduce our Guest Designer for the month of December, Mary Polanco. I first found Mary’s work on YouTube where she does great videos that are well-paced, inspiring and full of beautiful projects. When I asked if she’d be our December Guest Designer, she agreed and went above and beyond our expectations with her projects using our digital-of-the-month, Birthday Bash. There’s even a video for you to watch! Here’s Mary with her instructions…enjoy!

Hi there!  I’m so excited to be guest posting today using the Birthday Bash Digital Stamp set!  For my first project, I wanted to go big and go bright.  So I decided to print out the cake image pretty large.  This is an A2 size card so you can see the scale here, it’s pretty big.  I love this cake image because it’s simple and so easy to work with.  I chose the sentiment “Celebrate” because I’m going for a very cheerful and upbeat card.
20171224_123717
I cut out the cake and sentiment and left a small white border.  I pulled out my “Color It” Gel pens and used the glitter ones that matched the background I was using.
Speaking of all things bright and cheery, let’s talk about the background! I had a blast working with these Distress Oxides.  First I sponged on the three colors you see here, Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet, and Picked Raspberry.  After I sponged it on, I sprayed that bad boy down with water from my Ranger Mister and let the water do all the work.  I moved along the drying process with my heat tool and once it was good and dry, I covered it with Versamark Ink and then used some clear glitter embossing powder to get that shimmery look.
20171224_123721
I put the card together with some fun foam under the colored background and some 3M foam mounting tape under the cake image for some added dimension.  But I laid the sentiment flat and used Multi Medium Matte from Ranger for a strong hold! I finished off the card with some Confetti Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh for some added fun!
I really wanted to use these balloons and the vintage look of them inspired me to go with a little bit more of an artsy kind of look.

20171224_123414

I started with my background, using some Canson XL watercolor paper.  I used Distress Oxide in Iced Spruce, Seedless Preserves, and Worn Lipstick, and sponged it on first.  Then I watered it down with my Ranger Mister to fully mix the colors.  I heat set it with my heat tool and then finished it off with some of this fantastic black Smooth Spritz.  I love the look of the black shimmery paint splatters on top of these colors.

20171224_123559
I printed the balloon images and the “Hooray” on some Neenah Solar Crest 80lb weight cardstock and cut them out leaving a small white border.  I sponged the balloons with some Iced Spruce Oxide, and the sentiment with Worn Lipstick.
20171224_123339
I put the card together using fun foam under the colored background and foam tape under the balloon and sentiment.  Finally, I finished the balloons with some Glossy Accents and Confetti Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

20171224_123542

I hope you enjoyed this project as I had so much fun working with these digital images.  Until next time, Happy Crafting everyone!

A Natural Christmas With Hero Arts

Time to Make It Pop with some popping Christmas Cards.  I layered my card and this was NOT in my comfort zone, but I am very happy with it.  I began with a simple image and die cut it in the postage stamp shape.  All I did was cut mostly brown & burgundy colored patterned papers.  I’m happy with it, rather a natural type of card with music and joy.

A Close up to see the layers and Nuvo dots.

It looks like berries and leaves and earthy things.  I thought I would share the very close up photo too.

Digital Duel with Birthday Bash

Today’s digital duel is starring Arlene and me, Chark, along with the Hero Arts Birthday Bash digital kit. This is the prize for the winner this month of our Make It Pop challenge. You can use any products to win this digi kit…and if you use Hero Arts products on your project, you could also win $20 to the a2z store!

Here’s Arlene’s darling card for her darling granddaughter. She used shades of purple for the cupcake and a large sentiment from the kit inside. You can see more on Arlene’s blog here.

And here’s my take for a masculine birthday. I used washi tape in gold chevron for stripes, printed the sentiment the color it already is (teal) and added a candle from the kit for the letter i.

I used a white Uniball gel pen to make stripes and dots on the candle and letters and Stickles for the flame. I mounted the sentiment on some teal cardstock, then white then a pool notecard. So fast and easy!

Hero Arts Holiday Houses Perfect for the Winter

With digital images, you can enlarge or decrease the size according to your need.  I printed two houses and adjusted the size of one to a bit larger size.  I’m happy with both of them.  These cards were super easy to make because the background is part of a paper pad with varying shades of colors.  I bought two pads a couple of years ago because I knew I would want more than one paper pad.  That is so true.   I really enjoyed making a couple of scenes with the houses.

a2z scrapbooking winter challenge

Don’t you love the icy snow?

My second card has a wonderful sky and some snowy ground with icy snow on the roof.

I used a smaller sized sentiment with the larger house and a different color in the windows.

You can find me at A Bit of This and That.

A Calendar of Many Hero Arts Stamps

I have made my calendar for 2018 and I’d like to share some of my pages with you.  I used two sided papers for my calendar as the calendar is in notebook form, turning at the top.

January 2-18 and I put my red Cardinal in.  This set is sold out at A2Z Scrapbooking, but any Winter scene you want to use would be fine.

February 2018 has a blue snowy background paper and I stamped trees in white with my Brrrrrr die-cut

You could use the Classic Christmas Tree here or the Winter Silhouettes here

I figure everyone would have spring fever, including me and what gives us more of a feeling of freedom than the great outdoors and scooting around.  These little scooters are in the digital kit City Adventure here.

Come April and we’re all thinking of trips to our National Parks and so I used the “Save Our National Parks stamp, which may be custom ordered.

.

May is all about butterflies flitting around and this Color Layering Butterfly stamp set is on sale right now here.

June is time to relax with a cup of hot tea for me and I used the Kitchen Silhouettes for my cup with a die-cut steam.  But you could use the digital kit Caffeine Fix for your cup here.

I am at A Bit of This and That.  And remember to use my discount code Arlene15 at A2Z Scrapbooking to get 15% off your purchase of $25 or more.

I’ve taken you through June of 2018 of my calendar.  I guess I am prepared for next year.  Happy Calendaring, Scrapbooking and Cardmaking to you all.
