Water Color A City Adventure Digital Scooter

We’re changing things up for our monthly challenge here at a2z and our challenge winner for October’s Watercolor challenge will win the Go Wild digital set. If our random winner is also using Hero Arts products, we will add a $20 gift card to the store!

I made a little scene for a holiday trip on a scooter.  Very simple, but fun.  I combined two different techniques here.  For the ground (grass) and part of the blue sky layer above the grass, I used distress markers and a water color brush.  Then I just sponged on the distress ink on the sky and spattered with water.  A few beeps and the vacation sign from the same digital set were added.  Some Glossy Accents and Nuvo Crystal Drops completed the card.

Close-up of the scooter which I fussy cut.

Hero Arts Digital Make Your Own

It’s all about watercolor for the month of October, so water color to your heart’s content.  We’re changing things up for our monthly challenge here at a2z and our challenge winner for October’s Watercolor challenge will win the Go Wild digital set. If our random winner is also using Hero Arts products, we will add a $20 gift card to the store!

I have a friend and she makes the most fabulous quilts, but not just quilts, handbags, totes and cute vests with all kinds of beads.  Amazing work.  I wanted to make her a card, JUST BECAUSE she is my friend.  You know how you go to work and have work friends and home friends.  We started working together MANY years ago and took our work relationships out on the road, literally; we went camping to Santa Cruz.  The stories I could tell about the trip down and our long weekend taking in the beach and barbecuing.  Fast forward and retirement is here and I wanted my friend to know how much she has meant to me.

Go Wild with Hero Arts Digis

Hi, Friends, it’s Chark here today with a fun “Dueling Design Team Members” post. If you saw yesterday’s post, you know we’re changing things up for our monthly challenge here at a2z and our challenge winner for October’s Watercolor challenge will win the Go Wild digital set. If our random winner is also using Hero Arts products, we will add a $20 gift card to the store!

Today, Leslie and I decided to duel each other and each use the Go Wild digi to see if we can come up with something fun to share. I have to admit, I brought my A-game to this challenge, since Leslie is top-notch. First is Leslie’s card and how she made it.

I created the background using the Go Wild Digital Kit, re-sizing and re-coloring the images as I applied them to my layout. I also used digital buttons from the Hero Arts Say It in Pieces Digital Greetings, re-sizing and re-coloring them as I applied them to the layout.

I printed the layout and trimmed it down, then layered the panel on black cardstock and again on blue cardstock, then adhered it to the card base. I applied Morning Dew Crystal Drops to the buttons and a few random places on the card front. I also used a sentiment on the inside from the Say It in Pieces Digital Greetings. For more details and additional photos, please see my blog post at Love To Scrap 2.

leslie oct 2

And here’s mine. I printed the cheetah pattern on gold matte paper (hammered) and printed the same greeting Leslie used onto white cardstock. I colored the words with a Tombow red marker and then colored a white card on the edge to match. I adhered the greeting to the cheetah paper. Note—I tried printing from my laser (black and white) printer onto shiny metallic paper and it didn’t work well. Another kind of printer might do better but the matte paper was key to good quality printing for me. I used Nuvo Glossy Black Drops for the corners. This one was super fast.

One of my favorite things about digi stamps is the instant download. I’m often making cards at the last minute, even for birthdays that I know are coming(!), so digital stamps make things faster and easier than stamping. I just print the stamp on colored paper and add the greeting or print and color while I watch tv. I don’t do anything fancy on the computer with digitals, though you can create the entire card as digital and just print it too.

I like the fact that Leslie and I both used the same sentiment but that we each went a different way with color schemes. It just goes to show you how versatile digital stamps are.

Hope you’ll join in our monthly challenge so you can have a shot at this stamp set. Remember you no longer have to use Hero Arts to participate in our monthly challenges, the winner is randomly drawn for the digi prize…and if you do use Hero Arts products on your project, you could win this digi set AND $20 to the store! The Design Team will also be choosing their top three favorite projects from the challenge each month and award them a cool TOP 3 blog badge.

Happy Monday!

CASE a DT Challenge – Wonderful Stamp Cut with Winged Friends

kymona case wm 1.jpg

Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s over half way through the month of September!

I’m catching up of making some birthday cards for my stash and I thought I’d CASE Kymona’s card here from November 2016.

Kymona nov 16.jpg

I printed this dragonfly from the “Winged Friends” Hero Arts Digital set and cut him out with my Scan n Cut, then colored him with Spectrum Noir markers.  The wonderful is from Hero Arts Wonderful Stamp and Cut set.  I used a Gina K Designs card base – love the thickness and high quality of it!  I think this stamp and cut set is becoming one of my favorites ever because you can use it year round!  Please see my list of supplies linked below.

Hope you will join us in this month’s challenge – CASE a Designer!

Here’s another view of my card:

Casing a Designer with Hero Arts Feathers

Happy September all.  Delia again, with another take on using digital files, while also keeping it in the theme of “Case a Designer”.  Well, I have a few favourite designers, but at the very, very top is a most amazing lady called Ola Khomenok, she is from the Ukraine and her work is amazing, lots of layers, colours and just bits and pieces.  She uses loads of stencils initially when building up her page and then she makes what she does look sooo easy and it truly does my head in.  I watch her videos over and over again and am always left in awe of her talent.  I am trying very hard to emulate her style at the moment which I call “collage style”, but it really is just “Ola style” as she has a truly beautiful talent that I am actually very jelly of.  Aaaagh, but it is always good to have those that push us to be better.  I am not sure what my issue is in my difficulty in trying to emulate her style, but I think it has a lot to do with wastage.  I am frugal when it comes to using my large collection of flowers, chipboard, ephemera and bits and pieces as it all costs lots of money and I just don’t want to waste it – even though it isn’t really wasting it.  I know that Ola is on some major design teams and would be showered with product and deservedly so, but that is not reality for most of us and so I am very considered when I put my layouts together.  I also am just not yet as talented as she!

Jacobi-scrapbookpage-a2zsept1

So, here is my layout using the Hero Arts Feather Digital Cut file, which has the most awesome feather shape ever!  Clearly that was my hero in the layout, but I had lots of fun with this layout.  Firstly, I put the feathers through my Silhouette machine and then out came the Nuvo wax pastes in various colours and painted them and then I foiled them and sealed the foil off.  May I say how tedious foiling is…. those fiddly things and me are not the greatest of friends.  I truly did hide behind the door when patience was handed out.  So, I had a bit of fun with colouring and things, building up the layers, adding more and more bits and pieces, until all finished.

That’s all from me until another week passes when I shall return with another ‘Case a Designer’ layout, which will probably be all about Ola.  She is my current challenge and I am not giving up until I can learn her skill and put it in my repertoire.  So, be kind, be good and enjoy your inner creative.  Please visit me at my website www.jacobicreations.com or my blog at jacobicreations.blogspot.com.au

Hero Arts Vintage Travel

I didn’t have any mojo for working on my journal for awhile and all of a sudden two pages came together for me. The first page uses a double sided paper, one a map and the other is black with light circles.  I printed out some ships from the Hero Arts Vintage Travel digital kit and adhered a group of three to the bottom of a pockent on one side.  The digital butterfly is beautiful when cut out.  A cut piece of card stock is tucked into the pocket and now has some nifty things in it for the next six months.

I adhered a larger ship on top of a glittery green HA tag die-cut.  I colored a bit of the land masses a light to mid green color.

You can see what I’m using as tags here with the tags pulled out.  Yes I’m using white ink to write on these.

I’ve put the new journal page on rings and have a lot of my notes in here for A7Z Scrapbooking.

Digital Layout with Hero Arts Artistic Circles

Hello All.  Thanks for stopping by A2Z scrapbooking.  Today I have a completely digital layout for you which was actually a bit of a blast from the past for me as that is how I initially got into scrapbooking.  Being a graphic designer, it seemed a natural way to go, however, I then started looking at the hybrid way of doing things and now I have a craft space filled with all sorts of goodies.  I love crafting the hybrid way, but it is also quite fun to do it digitally, especially with these lovely digital files from Hero Arts.  This is the Instant Download Hero Arts Artistic Circles DK044 Digital Kit.

a2z July Layout flat

When you purchase this kit and download it, you will find that there are some little extras included, such as papers, some tags, a clip, snowflake and a pearl.  Firstly I grabbed the papers and created my background.  I used photoshop to create this layout, but there are a number of programs one can use or use a free online program called pixlr.  The same as creating in a hybrid way, this works by layers and is what makes the use of shadowing important.  If shadowing is not used, the layout will look very one dimensional and flat.  In came the beautiful panel of circles which I used in the background paper panels.  You can adjust the colour of the background circles or on any of the digital elements or you can make them different levels of transparent.  I then used the large circle as my main focal point, however I needed it thicker.  I did that, placed it in position and deleted the circle pattern behind this circular area, simply so it did not look confusing or too busy.

On went my photo panel, which led me to wanting a few more elements.  For this, I dived into my old stash of online elements bought from various packs from Sweet Shoppe Designs.  There is an endless supply of digital elements available to use along with the Hero Arts digital products on this site, combining them together makes for a really lovely layout.  So I found some ribbon, lots of flowers, sentiments, buttons and other bits that bring this layout together.  Remember, when working digitally, you can adjust the colouring on things so they match your layout perfectly.  As I mentioned earlier, I used the little pearl that comes as part of the the Artistic Circles Digital Kit from Hero Arts.  Everything has a shadow on it as this helps to make it more realistic and not flat, which is really important to the overall finished look.  I hope you like it and if you haven’t tried doing digital scrapbooking, do try, as it is quite fun and a really great way for those to scrapbook that are on a budget or low on space.

To see more of my work, please go to my website at www.jacobicreations.com or my blog at jacobicreations.blogspot.com.au

Summer Coffee Hopping

So excited to be joining in the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop as a sponsor again! Today I’ve got a Hero Arts project for you that uses Digi stamps and some snarky coffee sentiments I typed out in a typewriter font (Gungsuh in my program).

The background for the top left card was made with ink cubes pressed onto cardstock and overlapped. The background for the lower right card was made by repeating the coffee cup image from Caffeine Fix digital stamps and the women are both from the digital Make Your Own Sewing Fashion kit.

To make them summery, I dressed them (with Prismacolor pencils) in red, white and blue. I added rhinestones to both cards and added a little coffee cup to the lady on the left. It’s the same size as the background cups. I have another up on my blog because I couldn’t stop making these little Anne Taintor-inspired cards.

a2z Scrapbooking was founded to help support charities for people with Celiac disease and those with Behcet’s disease. The employees are all volunteers so that every purchase you make means the most money for the charities a2z Scrapbooking supports. One of our favorites to support is Camp Gluten Freedom for children.

Thanks for stopping by and for supporting a2z Scrapbooking Supplies! Happy hopping!

Hero Arts Digital Butterfly shaped card

Hi there.  It’s my turn to share with you again this month.     I have a shaped card made with a digital image…. it’s so easy to enlarge them and then to cut them out to make a card…

Digital Butterfly

Here I have taken one of the pre-coloured images from the Flutterbies digital kit  available in our A2Z Scrapbooking store and supersized it.   I cut it out twice and glued it together on one side.   I took the pre-coloured version and enhanced it with some Prismacolor Pencils.  Nice and easy and such fun to make a shaped card.
