August Guest Designer Post with Angie C.

Hi everybody,  please join me and welcome our August Guest Designer Angie C.   Angie is a former a2z DT member, and are currently on several other design teams.  You could visit her at her Blog:  cimbacreativefun,  her Instagram page,  her Pinterest page, and her Facebook page. I personally have always enjoy Angie’s beautiful creations, and today’s card is definitely going onto that long list.

Now let’s hear from Angie.

==========================================================================================

Hello everyone – Angie here – so happy to be guesting today with a2zscrapbooking!  Today is the last day of the “Anything Goes” challenge so you still have time to enter!

A2Zscrapbooking has such a special place in my heart as not only do they have a great store with super fast shipping and amazing service, they are run completely by volunteers so they can raise funds for Celiac and Behcets awareness!  (I have a dear family member with Celiac’s disease so their cause is dear to my heart!)  In addition, a2z was the very first design team I was on.  They have such a super supportive team and I learned a lot from these wonderfully talented ladies and made some amazing friends too!  So thank you for the invite to guest with you today!

I used some of my favorite Hero Arts products today on my card:
and a few other products:
Versafine ink
Dotted curved border die from Poppy Stamps

The dahlia comes as a wood rubber stamp and there are additional dies you can buy, called Hero Arts Artistic Dahlia frame cuts   I didn’t use the dies for this project as I wanted to work on my coloring to see if I could get dimension, coloring with Zig Clean Color markers on kraft card stock and I need to mail this card, so the flatter the better!   But the frame cuts, when you use them, are amazing because it cuts the flower into 3 parts so you can use foam tape or squares to pop them up!  Or you can just use one or 2 of the dies, so many possibilities.  The Hero Arts Wonderful “Stamp & Cut” dies cut out both different sizes of the word stamps, however, I wanted a white border, so I cut out around the larger word die to get an even bigger “wonderful” word die.

Thanks so much to the a2z crew for inviting me to guest design today!  I’m so honored!
============================================================================================
Thank you Angie for guest designing for us.  It’s a pleasure to have you!
Like Angie said, there is still time to enter this month’s Anything Goes challenge.  Looking forward to seeing your creations in our challenge gallery.

Hero Arts Peonies Pop-up Card

Hello there.

You know owning floral stamps is great.  Cause you could stamp a pretty flower anytime and make beautiful floral cards .   Today I tried a new technique I learnt by watching Jennifer McGuire’s video here.  And made a milestone birthday card.

In Jennifer’s video the pop up image is flushed with the window, but I didn’t want to cut my pretty bloom so I decide to let part of it extend outside the window.

I have to cover up the upper right corner inside of the card (forgot to take photos before writing it, haha).

The Peony bloom, leaves and buds are all gold heat embossed and watercolored.  On some of the petals I added a coat of Perfect Pearl solution.  The sentiment is also gold heat embossed.

I had lots of fun making this card, and I can promise you this is not the last one I would make!  😀

Have you seen all the goodies from the Hero Arts 2018 Season of Wonder Catalog in the a2z store?  Go check it out and have some shopping fun.  Remember to click Request Custom Order if you don’t see the items you want in the store.  Scroll down to get my discount code.

Guest Designer Post with Linda W.

Hi everyone,

We are so happy to have Linda W. as our Guest Designer today.  Linda is a long time Hero Arts Flickr group member, she was a Hero Arts Hostess, and she is a super talented lady.  You can find her on her blog: Scrappin, Stampin, & Singin and her flickr photo stream here.  Now let’s hear from Linda.

===========================================

Hey everyone – Linda W. here – I’m excited to Guest Designing on a2z today!! It’s the final day of this month’s Birthday Bash Challenge and I have a fun floral birthday card to share with you.

Steps:
  • Dry emboss the stencil on white panel using any diecutting machine and rubber mat.
  • Brayer ink over the embossing and then blend with more inks, spritzing with water as needed, to create background.
  • After it dries, mat panel to a yellow layer and add to a turquoise top-fold horizontal A2 card.
  • Die cut a bunch of Flowers for Coloring from white Copic friendly cardstock.
  • Stamp the diecuts with the matching flower and leaf stamps (I popped them into the diecut negatives and used a MISTI).
  • Color flowers and leaves with Copic Markers and add details (white gel pen, Glossy Accents) as desired.
  • Stamp sentiment onto a white doily and adhere it to the card.
  • Arrange the flowers and leaves as desired and adhere using glue dots and varying heights of foam.
I didn’t add gems or other embellishments, choosing to keep it simple. The background seems ornate enough to me but you could certainly add your favorite accents.
Done!
Thanks to a2z for inviting me to Guest Design for you!! Hope to see your birthday creation submitted to the challenge!

========================================

Wow isn’t that a stunning card!!  Thank you Linda, for designing for us.   To see more from Linda, visit her blog post, and leave her some comment love!

Hero Florals Peonies Birthday Wishes

Hi everyone,

I am so excited to be using a stamp of one of my favorite flowers, the Peonies on my card today.  The Hero Florals Peonies stamp is a new addition to my stash and I have experiment with using different papers and techniques.

First up I used rice paper (also know as mulberry paper or Xuan paper) and did a faux Chinese painting.  Some of the characteristics of Chinese Paintings may include “watercolor without lines”, one brush stroke for a single petal, writing (a poem, or title, and/or date) and a seal (artist’s name).  Now I must disclaim here that I am no expert in Chinese painting, just some observations from looking at them.  🙂

I stamped the floral and leaves images using Hero Arts Shadow Ink Soft Granite, and watercolor the images.  My Chinese writing skill using a brush is not good enough so I just used a black marker to write Happy Birthday (top right corner), and the date (lower portion), and added my seal.  Then my rice paper panel is adhere to a dark gray card base.

Next up I used the same kind of paper and I gold heat embossed the images before watercoloring it.

This last project I made a place card, for a birthday party of course!!  🙂  I used Strathmore 140 lb watercolor paper, stamped in Archival Ink and watercolored both flower and leaves.  Then I die cut using the matching Frame Cut.  I adhere it to a cup shape place card holder die cut using Hero Arts Nesting Teacups Infinity Dies.  I die cut an extra plain leave to write the name.

Here’s the back view, you could see how easy it is to have it done.

I sure had fun with this stamp.  It’s in the store, get yours today.  Scroll down to get my promote code and save some money shopping.  🙂

Color Layering Tiger Lily – a Monochromatic Card

Hi! It’s Sue here today. It’s with some sadness that I write that this will be my last post here at a2z Scrapbooking as I’ve decided to step down from this wonderful team of talented and supportive card makers. Now that I’ve retired from my “real” job, I feel that I need to try some new things – not quite sure what they are though, LOL!

Here’s my card for today

I was inspired by this month’s “monochrome” challenge and wondered if I could create a monochromatic card. I started with the Scrollwork Stencil, spiced marmalade distress ink and an ink blending tool. I stamped off once to get a more muted tone of orange onto the upper left corner of my card base. I stamped all three layers of the tiger lily using three orange inks (they will be listed below) using my MISTI and then fussy cut the flowers. On a scrap of orange cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set and cut it into a banner. When assembling the card, I decided to pop the middle bloom up on dimensionals. I think that I did OK with my all orange card.

Hero Arts Nasturtium Hello

Hi everyone,

Cindy here to share a card featuring the Hero Floral Nasturtium Clear Stamp.  The Nasturtium is an eatable flower, as a manner of fact I planted some in my planters and there is a bloom already.  Yay!

I stamped in black the floral image on white card stock twice, and watercolored.  I used a rectangle stitch die to cut main panel, and then hand cut the rest of the blooms.  I stamped the sentiment on the main panel, then layered everything as shown.  To add the final touch I added some orange Stickle in the flower center.  I have one flower and one leaf left over, so I adhered them to an envelope, and voila I have a matching envelope too!!  🙂

There are various stamps of this flower in the Hero Arts collection, such as the Flowering Nasturtium Wood Stamp, Hero Floral Nasturtium Clear Stamp, and Color Layering Nasturtium Clear Stamp.  Just request a Custom Order if you don’t see them in the a2z Scrapbooking store.  There is also a frame cut for the Layering Nasturtium, and for the Floral Nasturtium.   Did I mention there is Layering Ink too?!  🙂 Check it out on a2z Scrapbooking here.

Hero Arts Flowering Magnolia on a Shaped Card

I’ve used several different colors on this lovely magnolia image and love them all.  The image lends itself to a circle so well too.  I like the way this particular die-cut enhances the flower.   You know how you create something you’d rather keep (I know there are a lot), than give away.  This is one of those I would rather keep.

Hero Arts Layered Topiary Bouquet

Happy Monday everybody,

I am using my “creative license” today and stretch my Hero Arts Layered Topiary stamp to stamp a bouquet.

I stamped the individual part of the topiary with pinks, purples and oranges, then die cut using the matching frame cut.  They became the ‘flowers’ of my bouquet.  Since the ‘flowers’  is quite busy I didn’t want the leaves to compete with it, so I stamped the majority of them using shadow ink and two sprigs in distress ink.   Next I stamped the sentiment in black.  The panel is then die cut using Nesting Postage Stamp Infinity Die, and adhered to a pattern paper panel which is glued to a white card base.  I mounted the ‘flowers’ using various heights of foam adhesive to give it some dimension, and embellished with a few sequins.

Hero Arts Bright Blossoms Digital Kit Thank You Card

Hi there! It’s Sue here with a new card for you to see. I’ve been gradually learning how to use digital kits for my cards. It’s interesting to see that the more you use them, the easier it is. Imagine that!

Here’s my card

I used the large sunflower-like card. I printed it out on cardstock, added color with Copic markers and fussy cut the image. I wanted to create a background so that the flower would “pop”. I started with an A2 card panel (4.25″ x 5.5″) of 96 lb bristol because I knew that I would be adding some water. I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers in blue/teal colors and scribbled on the bristol. I used a water brush to blend the colors. I kept adding scribbles and blending until I was happy with the panel. For the sentiment, I used another digital kit, printed out the sentiment and added a black mat.

I’d Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts

I’d Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts!!! Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you another shaped card and my last card as a Designer for a2z Scrapbooking Supplies. These two years have been amazing to me but I am leaving the team because I need to take care of some personal things but I want to let you know that I love my time sharing with you and creating with amazing products.

I'd Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts

To make my card I used a Circle Stitched Die Cut that I cut twice. The first time with the card stock folded to create the card base and the second using a single layer of card stock that I decorated and pasted over the base.

  1. Use the Spiral Petals Stencil and the Hero Arts Aegean Bold Ink to create the background with the ombre effect. I used a sponge to have better control over the effect.
  2. Stamp the flowers including on the stamp set Color Layering Hibiscus using three different colors of ink. For the base I used the Butter Bar and for the accent I used the Red Royal, colors included on the collection Water Lilies Layering. For the center of the flowers I used Hero Arts Moss Hybrid Ink.
  3. Fussy cut the flowers or use the corresponding die cuts, Color Layering Hibiscus Frame.
  4. Stamp the leafs using Hero Arts Moss Hybrid Ink for the base and Hero Arts Pine Ink.
  5. Fussy cut the leafs or use the corresponding die cuts, Color Layering Hibiscus Frame.
  6. Assemble the flowers and leafs on the top of your card using dimensionals and snail adhesive.
  7. Stamp the sentiment from the stamp set I’d Never Forget You using Hero Arst Intensive Black Ink.

I'd Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts

What do you think?  Please let know below.

Thank you for this amazing year and I hope to be with you soon!!!
