Color Layering Butterfly Tag Card

Hello there,

My May challenge inspired card today is very simple, a tag card.  Sometimes things don’t need to be complicated.  I cut two tags measuring 3 by 6 inches using white card stock.  One I left blank, and crease about 5/8 of an inch down from top.  This is the back panel.

On the front panel I stamped Scribble Bold Prints with Soft Granite, and the sentiment in black.  I added some Washi tapes and a pattern paper strip.  On a separate piece of white card stock I stamped the butterfly using the MISTI tool with Spun Sugar, Crimson, Vintage Photo and Jet Black.  Then I hand cut the butterfly and adhered to the tag front.  Then the front panel is glued to the back, hole punched and tied bow with twine.  Voila!!

Hero Arts Everything Smiles Hello II

Hi everyone,

I like flowers, a lot!!  Anything image resembles flowers grabs my attention.  Having that said, I also enjoy using different things to make images that resemble flowers.  For today I created a floral card without using any floral stamp.  Take a look:

I used the smiley heart in the Hero Arts Everything Smiles Stamp and Cut set, it is perfect to double up as a flower petal.  I stamped it in Soft Granite and watercolored the blooms.  Do you know that the Hero Arts shadow ink is good for both watercolors and markers.  They won’t bleed or run even if you go over it with watercolors!!

So after I did my blooms I found that the background is just too empty, guess I didn’t plan it out, was too excited about making flowers with the heart!!  LOL  But the little curly streamer bits from the Monthly Hero Kit Dec 2016 came to the rescue!  I stamped them in Peeled Paint and Soft Leaf.  The floral panel is mounted onto a charcoal grey card base, the sentiment is stamped in Soft Granite and watercolored and matted with dark grey card stock.

I hope you enjoy my flowery card created without a flower stamp!  This month’s challenge is Flower Power, come play with us,  Scroll down to catch the details.

Hero Arts Layered Topiary Bouquet

Happy Monday everybody,

I am using my “creative license” today and stretch my Hero Arts Layered Topiary stamp to stamp a bouquet.

I stamped the individual part of the topiary with pinks, purples and oranges, then die cut using the matching frame cut.  They became the ‘flowers’ of my bouquet.  Since the ‘flowers’  is quite busy I didn’t want the leaves to compete with it, so I stamped the majority of them using shadow ink and two sprigs in distress ink.   Next I stamped the sentiment in black.  The panel is then die cut using Nesting Postage Stamp Infinity Die, and adhered to a pattern paper panel which is glued to a white card base.  I mounted the ‘flowers’ using various heights of foam adhesive to give it some dimension, and embellished with a few sequins.

Hero Arts Everything Smiles Hello

Happy Friday everybody,

Cindy here to share a couple projects featuring the Hero Arts Everything Smiles Stamp and Cut.  I love using the small stamp to create my own background, and this set is perfect for that.

I picked some happy colors and stamped the small icons all over a white card panel.  The tiny stars from the Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Thanks set.  I layered this panel on a black panel and then onto a card base.  The ‘hello’ from the Everything Smiles set is white heat embossed on black card stock, and die cut with the larger speech bubble die.  This is mounted with foam adhesive.  I stamped and hand cut the smiley cupcake and glue onto the  speech bubble and added Nuvo crystal drop on the frosting.   This card could double up as a birthday card too.

When I first saw this set in the Hero Arts 2018 Catalog I wanted it to use in my planner.  But, I admit, I am just too lazy to take the stamp out and stamp in my planner and then clean up and put away.   So I thought why not make some stickers I can store in a pocket in my planner and they can be use instantly!  Ding!

I first glue some Stick It adhesive onto white card stock that measures 4 by 4 1/4.  Then I used the two small banner cutting die from the Papel Picardo Frame Cut and die cut 16 banners (one per each smiley icon).  The I popped it back into the cut out slots and secure them with some washi tape in the back.  Next I stamp all the icons and colored with Copic markers.  Ta da!  Now I can just take the banner out, remove the backing (of the Stick it) and add into my planner.

Color Layering Goldfish We’re Here

Hi,

One of the fun things about Hero Arts Color Layering Stamps is that you could play with individual layer to obtain a different look.  The Color Layering Goldfish have two layers.  On today’s card I only used the detail one on my card.  And I took some photos while making this card.

I started of with a strip of watercolor paper, I wet it completely and lay it on a cutting mat (could have done it on craft sheet but was too lazy to fish it out.  LOL  I let it dry slightly but still quite wet then dropped some water colors in places when I would stamp the goldfish.

After the watercolor panel dried, I stamped the top layer of the goldfishes trying out two different inks, Hero Arts Mid-tone Shadow – Wet Cement and Ranger Archival – Jet Black.  I like the version with the Wet Cement more, so I did the rest using that ink.  Next I added some extra watercolor in the areas where there is very little ink.

Next I stamped the base layer onto scrap paper, cut out and use it as a guide/template to draw the outline of the fishes.

Yes it was a big mistake not to get the matching die!  So advise to you, buy the matching die if you could!  Back to my card, next I cut the fishes out using scissors.

For the home of my fishes, I used a dark green pattern paper panel and stamped the seaweed from the Color Layering Goldfish set with Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Ink.  I wanted to add more interest, so I used the detail layer of the waterlily leaf from the Color Layering Koi set to create an “under-water plant look alike”.  I added the air bubbles from that same set as well.

For the sentiment, I composed using part of the sentiment from both Stamp & Cut Congrats and Stamp & Cut So Sorry.  I stamped with Unicorn Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Pssst I’ll let you in on a secret, I took the Clear embossing powder by mistake and only realized that is was clear after I heated it.  OMG I don’t to start over!?  Then I remember that the embossing is still sticky while it is hot, so I took out the real white embossing powder, heat up the stamped sentiment and quickly added the white EP on top.  And heat again.  Phew!!  It worked!!

To add some shine (goldfish has shining scale right?), I added Stickles on the body of the goldfish.  And now for the grand finale.

I hope I have inspired you to play along our July challenge – Anything Goes.   Feel free to use your creative license to make something fun by mixing things up.

I’d Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts

I’d Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts!!! Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you another shaped card and my last card as a Designer for a2z Scrapbooking Supplies. These two years have been amazing to me but I am leaving the team because I need to take care of some personal things but I want to let you know that I love my time sharing with you and creating with amazing products.

I'd Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts

To make my card I used a Circle Stitched Die Cut that I cut twice. The first time with the card stock folded to create the card base and the second using a single layer of card stock that I decorated and pasted over the base.

  1. Use the Spiral Petals Stencil and the Hero Arts Aegean Bold Ink to create the background with the ombre effect. I used a sponge to have better control over the effect.
  2. Stamp the flowers including on the stamp set Color Layering Hibiscus using three different colors of ink. For the base I used the Butter Bar and for the accent I used the Red Royal, colors included on the collection Water Lilies Layering. For the center of the flowers I used Hero Arts Moss Hybrid Ink.
  3. Fussy cut the flowers or use the corresponding die cuts, Color Layering Hibiscus Frame.
  4. Stamp the leafs using Hero Arts Moss Hybrid Ink for the base and Hero Arts Pine Ink.
  5. Fussy cut the leafs or use the corresponding die cuts, Color Layering Hibiscus Frame.
  6. Assemble the flowers and leafs on the top of your card using dimensionals and snail adhesive.
  7. Stamp the sentiment from the stamp set I’d Never Forget You using Hero Arst Intensive Black Ink.

Love by Lia Hero Arts Stamp Set

You Make my Heart Smile with Hero Arts. This is the sentiment that I selected to create my card. It is part of the stamp set Love by Lia and I used a non traditional form in my creations. Welcome to another “Take Shape” inspiration sample.

Love by Lia Hero Arts Stamp Set

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here with you to share a card with banner or tail fish shape. I really love to receive cards with different shapes and this is sample that you can use and put easily in an envelope because it is a regular size. To cut this I used a double stitched banner from Peek a Boo Designs and I kept my card stock folded on top and below the die border to give my card form.

Then I cut a stitched rectangle on whisper white card stock and stamped over the right side one of the sentiments that came included on the stamp set Love by Lia. I love this set because the sentiments and fonts that are included on it are a great size and very useful. I pasted the stitched rectangle directly over the top of the banner.

Love by Lia Hero Arts Stamp Set

To complete the card, I stamped four little envelopes over decorated paper and fussy cut them with my scissors to paste over the card using dimensionals and snail adhesive. The final touch, two loops of red and white bakers twine.

All the images from the stamp set Love by Lia were stamped with Hero Arts Intensive Black Ink.

What do you think?  Please let know below.

I can’t wait to see how you interpret our challenge theme this month.

COLOR LAYERING FLAMINGO SENTIMENT

COLOR LAYERING FLAMINGO SENTIMENT

Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a sentiment that I love and that comes with a great stamp set Color Layering Flamingo from Hero Arts. This is the month of the sentiments and my card says it all! Take a look:

COLOR LAYERING FLAMINGO SENTIMENT

To create my card I used regal rose card stock for the first layer and decorated paper for the second one. To stamp the Flamingo image I used three different colors of pink inks. First I stamped the legs of the Flamingo using Soft Granite Ink, and with my MISTI i stamped the image twice.  Then I stamped the body of the flamingo. For the base layer I used Soft Pink Ink, for the second layer I used  Bubble Gum Ink and for the last detailed layer I used Rose Madder Bold Ink.

COLOR LAYERING FLAMINGO SENTIMENT

I fussy cut with my scissors the Flamingo and pasted directly over the decorated card base using OnPoint Glue. I added some pink and silver sequins and finally added a banner using one of the sentiments that came on the Color Layering Flamingo stamp set. This sentiment came in a different way but I edited it to have a horizontal line.

If you like any of the products I used on my card, please stop over at the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store. You can use the code Martha15 to receive 15% off of a $25.00 order.

Hero Arts Thank You Berry Much

Hi,

I am back with another Sentiment Focus card using the Hero Arts’ Produce and Seeds set.

My process:

  • On white card base stamp sentiment and berries images from the Produce and Seeds set in black and heat emboss with clear powder.
  • Use watercolors to color the images.
  • Ink the top side of an embossing folder with watermark ink.  Place card base in embossing folder and hand pressed selected area.
  • Use inking tool to sponge Squeezed Lemonade very lightly around the stamped areas and edges.
  • Embellished with sequins.

The background is very subtle, and it’s not show up a lot on the photo.  So I guess you will have to take my words for it!  🙂

There’s still plenty time to join in this month challenge.  Follow the challenge theme and remember to use a Hero Arts stamp, digital image, stencil and/or die cut as focal image.

The Produce and Seeds clear stamp set is available at the a2z store, use my code Cindy15 to get 15% off any purchases $25 and more (shipping excluded) at check out.  If you don’t find the item in the store, just click the blue Request Custom Order button on the left side bar.
