Grateful Paper Layering Hummingbird

gratefull paper layering hummingbird wm main.jpg

Hi there, it’s Angie here with a card featuring the new Hero Arts Paper Layering Hummingbird die.  I love hummingbirds so when I saw this new die set, I just had to get it and I’m so glad I did!

This card was quick to make, just stamped some flowers and leaves from the Hero Arts “Let Love Grow” set (in Distress Oxide inks) and cut a strip of black to mount the strip on.  I die cut the bird and used the same inks on him, added some black with a black marker, and added the Hero Arts “Grateful” rubber stamp sentiment on a scalloped oval die cut that was inked with the same inks.  I put it all on the card base and was done in no time!

Hope you will take the time to enter the 2 ways to win a $25 gift card to the a2z scrapbooking store!  Here’s the scoop:

1st Chance to Win:  Enter our monthly Challenge here!

2nd Chance to Win: During the month of March, we’re giving you a second way to win a $25 Gift Certificate to the a2z Store! We’ll do a random draw from the blog comments during the month of March for one gift card. You can enter once a day by commenting on the blog post and earn up to 31 chances to win! I

f you’re feeling it, you’re welcome to enter both the Hero Arts with Stencils challenge and the commenting challenge…maybe you’ll win both!

Just Breathe Plaid and Denim

Hi, Angie here with another card to hopefully inspire you to join the “watercolor” challenge over at a2zscrapbooking blog!  April is almost over but you still have a little time left to join in the fun!

Click here to see the details and add your creation!

I used watercolor paper to ink with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.  I put it on direct to paper and even added more with a dauber to get it really dark.  Then I heat embossed in HA clear powder, leaves stamps from HA You’re So Lovely set.  After heat embossing them, I added water with a paint brush and then wiped off the excess.  (This is the Distress Ink Lifting method with water that Jennifer McGuire recently showed on her blog.)  It lightened up the background and left the leaves really dark.  I think it made the background look like blue jeans or denim!

I cut the HA Swallowtail Fancy Butterfly from plaid patterned paper and inked it with the same Distress Ink, then added Wink of Stella on the top.  I used my Misti to stamp the sentiment in Versamark Ink and used HA white embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment “Just Breathe” from the HA Hello Gorgeous set.  The background is more plaid paper that I inked the edges of to match.  I die cut the watercolor panel with a scalloped die before adhering it to the plaid paper, then the white card base.  Lastly I added some fun black pearl gems from Hero Arts!

My list of supplies is below:

If you need craft items that you don’t see in the store, don’t forget you can special order them here at the A2ZScrapbooking Store.

You can use the code Angie15 to receive a discount of 15% off your total order of $25 or more excluding shipping.

Here are a few more views.  It looks different from each angle!

It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Autumn

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today and the leaves are turning here in Ohio and some are drifting to the ground. And, although that means raking, it’ll be quite some time before our trees are finished dropping those leaves. In the meantime, I’m thinking Thanksgiving, so I made a card to share with you today that’s all about fall.

IMG_8481 I used Peacock Feathers Distress Inks for the stamp, Carta Bella leaf paper and a watercolor (with Distress Inks) piece stamped with a tiny leaf from this Christmas Elf set. I love using stamps from one set for a whole different holiday…makes me feel like I’m getting my money’s worth!

laiHere’s a close-up. Can you see the faint leaves on the watercolor? I inked the stamp and then stamped off onto scrap paper so it was lighter when I stamped on the card. Subtle but festive.

IMG_8520I hope you’ll join in for the October All Things Fall challenge to try to win the $25 gift certificate. Break out your Hero Arts stamps and stencils and get to work! Link it up here by the end of the month to be entered.

And don’t forget that we are on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Follow us on these different social media outlets so you won’t miss out on any fun promotions!

Happy Fall, Y’all!

Leave It To Me

Good Morning, it’s Chark with the post today and the colors of the leaves here in Ohio are becoming lovely shades of red, orange and yellow. They inspired me to create some Thanksgiving or Harvest gift bags. I found some mini burlap bags at the Dollar Spot at Target and thought they would make great gift-giving bags for teachers or favors for family dinners. So I broke out the acrylic paints and my new Arrow Pattern stencil. Here are the easy steps if you want to make your own burlap gift bags.

IMG_33221. Insert paper into the bag to keep the paint from leaking through.

IMG_33252. Tape down the stencil with washi tape and make sure the bag is secured to the table too.

IMG_33293. Use a fat brush to push the paint into the stencil (don’t use brushstrokes) by pouncing the brush up and down. And use an older brush in case the burlap is rough on the bristles.

IMG_33344. Let dry.

IMG_3403

IMG_3389

5. Then stamp on the bag (and over the dry paint) with Staz-On black ink. Use markers to color in the leaves. I used Autumn Leaves stamps to make the tags. I secured the Felt Leaves and ‘Happy Autumn’ cardstock with glue dots.

And, just so you know, the felt leaves are just $1.50 and come in a pack of twelve for your crafting needs. And the Autumn Leaves stamp set is just $8.00 right now, so you gotta pick these up asap! No, seriously, right now! Thanksgiving is coming! 🙂

IMG_3367I filled mine with clear plastic bags of mini candy bars. You can use these at a place setting or on a favor tray at your fall gathering.

These were so fun to make! I liked how they looked when I didn’t use too much paint and just picked certain areas of the stencil to fill in.

Hope this inspires you to make something fun and then enter it into our October Challenge–just use two Hero Arts stamps, two Hero Arts stencils or one of each on your project like I did.

And if you wanna be a part of the Design Team, you have three more days to try out for the team. Check out the details here!

Happy Friday!!

Please Use Your Napkin

Hey it’s Chark again with a post about being polite and using your napkin…well, okay, it’s really about making your own fall napkin rings. I’m not hosting Thanksgiving this year, but when we do, I like to dress up the table without spending lots of cash. These napkin rings are made from paper towel tubes (you can get about four from one tube) and scraps of paper and ribbon I had. First up are my blingy napkin rings. I used black and ivory paper, black grosgrain ribbon and some thin gold string I had. I kept it from some packaging for another product. Do you do that too? Say, “oh, pretty,” and rescue it?

IMG_2678

I looovvvee these Fall Felt Flowers from Hero Arts. They are on sale in the store right now and they are just the perfect touch. You get a variety of colors and shapes in each package, so they’re versatile.

I made another version in more typical fall colors with natural-colored string and matte silver brads I received in a card kit. I bet you have a million brads you haven’t used yet—just like me. These felt leaves are great for that because they have a little hole for tying or attaching a brad. You can trim it off too, if you don’t need it.

IMG_2641

Here’s a last close-up of the leaves. And if you’re interested in getting your own felt leaves for place cards, napkin rings or making the perfect fall card (maybe a wreath of leaves?) head on over to store, while they are on sale for $1.50 for a pack of 12! Oh, and try some Stickles on the leaves if you’re looking for sparkle!

Enter your own projects for the monthly challenge theme, Autumn & Christmas, and enter to win $25 to the store! If you want to buy your own, spend $25 at a2z and enter Chark15 to get 15% off your whole purchase!

Happy Fall, y’all!
