A Fin-tastic Birthday with Hero Arts

Aloha and Happy Saturday friends!  I hope everyone is enjoying their summer…it seems like its going way too fast in this household!  Today’s card is inspired by summer and perfect for that guy celebrating a summer birthday.

Hero Arts Fintastic Birthday

Isn’t that dressed up manatee so adorable?!  I used the Hero Arts Manatee Stamp and Cut that has cute little dress up pieces.  The balloon is from Hero Arts Irreverent Birthday Messages.  I started with watercolor paper and stamped out the images with Versamark ink and heat set with Hero Arts Silver Embossing Powder.  The images were colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

To create the background I borrowed Jennifer McGuire’s idea on using an acrylic block and used Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch sprayed with water and “stamped” on watercolor paper.  The sentiment uses Hero Arts Intense Black Ink.

That’s it for me!  Have a fabulous weekend!!

Birthday Messages and a Masculine Card

Hi, friends, it’s Chark today with a masculine card…assuming most guys don’t love glitter and sequins like I do (and there are some that do, I’m sure!) then I’ve got a card just right for those guys today. And it fits our new May Challenge theme, Sentiment Focus, where the sentiment is the focus of the card.

I used the new Birthday Messages stamp set and put a bunch of the messages on the mini MISTI. I’m not a great stamper, so I love using anything that will help me stamp and the MISTI comes in handy when you have to re-stamp something.

I wanted an ombre inked look, I inked up the messages with Summer Sky ink (lightest), then added some Deep Ocean ink (medium) and finished inking with the Navy ink (darkest), all by Hero Arts. Then I stamped the sentiments on a white panel. You can see the ombre better here.

I stamped and trimmed out another small Happy Birthday message and mounted it to Navy inked cardstock. I popped it up on top of more paper layers to draw attention to it. I trimmed the panel down and mounted it to a black piece of cardstock that I stamped with the new Wallpaper Pattern background stamp in White Unicorn ink by Hero Arts. I love that ink.

For bling, I used the understated Matte Doodlebug Design dots to finish it off. They’re like enamel dots, but they have a soft matte finish. They’re cool to finish off a card without the shiny glittery goodness of sequins.

That’s it for me today, hope you’ll join in our new May challenge here with your Hero Arts products. Join us on the 7th to see the April winners announced.

Happy Tuesday!

Simple Valentine Cards

Happy Aloha Monday friends!  Niki G. back with an idea for that simple loved one.  Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I’ve got a couple of cards to share that can be quickly made using the Hero Arts set Stamp Your Own Fruit that is currently on sale in the store!  Here’s the cards…

I simply stamped the fruit out randomly on Hero Arts Kraft paper in Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Ink.  The sentiment was masked off each time except for the focus image.  To make the main image standout I colored them in with Faber Castell Paper Crafter Crayons.  I even outlined them with the crayons to create more depth.  The sentiment was then stamped in Hero Arts India Ink Black to really stand out.  It stamps perfectly over the crayon coloring!

The Kraft panel was die cut using a stitched rectangle die and mounted on coordinating cardstock colors.  The lemon card is from Hero Arts Mixed Sunshine Layering Paper.  I think the simplicity would be perfect for masculine cards.

I hope you’ll join in on our fun challenge this month: Masking for your chance to win $25 to the a2z Scrapbooking Store!

Mahalo for stopping by!

Masculine Thank you Card with Zoey

Hello beautiful people,

it has been too long since my last post here, I have been missing you all!
I travelled to California for CHA at the beginning of this year and I had the extreme pleasure to stop and make some make and takes at our loved Hero Arts Booth!

It was so much fun!…but then I came back home and I got sick again, I contracted Bronchitis while at CHA so I have been sleeping almost everyday…LOL! Anyway, enough sad parts.. I already bored you enough!

Now….for the fun part!
I made this super easy peasy card because we all know that we NEVER have enough Thank you card, am I rite!?

To create this card you will need:

….and here how I made it!

I started off by adding through the Hero Arts Stencil Tile Works a bit of Ranger Texture Paste and I let it dry very well.

Then, for the background I did a huuuuge mix between Hero Arts Passion Flower Spray Mist and Hero Arts Pool Spray Mist but since the mix wasn’t coming out as I wanted, I decided to play with my favorite Hero Arts Watercolor Wheel to achieve different color shade. I love how they all blended so well.

I have to admit that it took me a bit of work, but only because in my idea I was going for a color that reminded of sea (go figure? lol)…but at the end, I loved the result!

I also added few splashes of color here and there to create a bit of movement in the card.
I stamped my sentiment from the collection Hero Arts Be Happy CL606 (THIS IS ON SALE!!!) over a piece of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock and I fussy cut it then adhered to the background adding also a small bit of thread.

With the Kuretake Zig Photo Signature Pen Black I scribbled around the border and with the Zig Memory System Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush I added some sparkle to the background.

And there you have it, a quick Thank you card that I think it would be perfect for a masculine card…what do you think? Before leaving you, let me as always remind you few things….
