Copic Coloring: Altering An Image

Hello Crafters!

How are you all doing today? I’m posting a little late because I couldn’t find my card! I’m so sorry!

I went out of town over the weekend and created my card there. Then when I got home it was no where to be found 😦 Thankfully I did manage to find it!

I used Hero Arts set Making the World A Better Place.

Making the World A Better Place

I loved the outline flower  but I wanted it to have a little bit more movement. I went to the great Sandy Allnock for help. I wanted to know how to make the petals curl.  . .

I think we did pretty good 🙂

First she taught me that you have to draw it yourself with a copic safe pen. This sounds scary but I can’t draw one iota and I managed to do it. Just make it very organic. Do not, DO NOT make consistent lines. It makes it look fake. Organic = Natural

Next she taught me that not every petal needs to curl. This was of course after I drew every petal to curl. Ha! Live and learn.

Third find your light source. I drew mine so that the light was coming from the top left. It helped to lay a pair of scissors in that corner so I could see the angle of where the light would fall.

Last but not least don’t give up. Keep working the image. These are not crayola markers where continually going over the image will make your paper pill up. Keep going over it. That petal on the top right . . . I drew shadows in the middle of it. Why? Who knows, but it looked terrible.  I just went over it with my colorless blender until it lightened up. Then I went back at it. I covered it in clear Wink of Stella

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Love and Hello Fancy Dies. I love the block letters with the soft flower. i think it gives great balance. The end of it has a sweet little heart but I cut it off. It felt “too cute” for my design. I’ll definitely be using it in the future though 🙂

Speaking of the future did you see that the new Hero Arts is in stock at the A2ZScrapbooking Store? So many awesome products! I’m completely smitten with this Flag Pattern Stencil.

Also there is still time to enter our current challenge. All you have to do is use two Hero Arts hard products to create a project. You could win $25.00 to the store! Whoop Whoop 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!

I hope you have a wonderful week 🙂
