September Winners

Hi, crafty friends, it’s Chark here today to announce the September Make It a Tag Challenge Winners. It’s always fun to see what you all create and this month was no different…and the choosing is always difficult, because you guys are so talented!

Our top pick this month and the winner of a $25 gift certificate to the store is Maura! This card with the tag is all kinds of perfect for fall, great colors, great design and great stamping! Nice job, Maura! Please contact us at a2zscrapbooking@comcast.net to claim your gift code.

Our Honorable Mentions this month literally all tied for second place! Our runners-up win a blog badge and bragging rights to tell everyone how much our DT loved their entries! Just email the above address to ask for your blog buttons.

Our first and second Honorable Mention is LaVon! LaVon entered a lot of beautiful projects this month and we loved her entries. The two that got the most attention were these two. Her Autumn card has beautiful color and design, and I love the placement of the sentiment too!

Check out LaVon’s flickr account to see her Fall Card in all its beautiful detail. Flickr protects its photos so you can’t just copy them, which is cool, but I wanted you to at least take a fuzzy peek at it here 🙂

This second one is definitely a joy, see what I did there? It’s got a great color scheme and that fab snowflake die and my personal favorite, glitter!

Our next Honorable Mention is Sally with her adorable tag/gift card holder. Clever, cute and just right for the holidays, Sally’s entry is definitely a keeper!

Because LaVon tied with herself, we’ve added another blog badge winner and that is Andrea with this lovely pink poinsettia tag. The greens and golds set off the pink of the flower beautifully, and the baker’s twine is a perfect little addition.

Thanks to everyone who entered and congrats to these four ladies! Don’t forget to link up your creation for the October Layer It Challenge here to try to win your own $25 gift code.

And if you need some Hero Arts products to play along, the a2z Scrapbooking store is fully stocked with the newest products for fall, winter and the holidays, check it out here.

Happy Friday!

Three Months Until Christmas!

Can you believe it’s only 3 months until Christmas? Wait, what? I’m asking myself, are you sure? Yes, I’m sure. Yikes! It’s a good thing I’ve already started making some of my Christmas cards!

This first card was super simple. I stamped the snowflakes and the greeting with Versamark ink and then heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I then stamped the ornaments, one with Red Royal mid-tone ink and the other two with the Soft Granite mid-tone ink. Then I added a little color with a green gel pen. I also brushed on the Wink of Stella clear glitter pen to add shimmer to all three ornaments. I used the die to cut them all out and then I strung silver and white string/thread so they look like they are hanging. The ornaments are adhered with dimensional foam squares to add some depth.

On this second card, I first added distress inks to the background with an ink blending tool. Then I put the Leaf & Floral stencil over the background paper and used the ink blending tool to apply the Soft Granite ink for a tone-on-tone effect. I then stamped the trees with Forever Green and Green Hills mid-tone inks and used the die to cut them out. I stamped the greeting with Forever Green ink as well, and then adhered all the trees. The middle tree is adhered with dimensional foam squares. I also added a little bit of color to the middle tree with a red gel pen. I finished it off my adhering the panel to a white notecard and adding a few gems.

On my last card, I once again used the Leaf & Floral stencil with Soft Granite ink on white cardstock – I used the same technique as I mentioned above. I purposely used less ink when pouncing in the center of the stencil. I then used the Hero Arts Alphabet die to cut out the letters from red cardstock. I added a layer of Glossy Accents to make them shine. I also cut the stars from gold and silver glitter paper. I assembled the card and called it done. 🙂

Don’t forget that if you use the coupon code Kathy15 in the store, you will receive 15% off your order. How cool is that?!

Also, there’s still time to join the monthly challenge. We would love for you to play along with us. This month’s theme is Autumn and Christmas.
