Silver Inked Snowflakes

Aloha friends and Happy Sunday!

I’ve got a trio of cards today to show off the very pretty Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Silver

stamped on my favorite colors of Hero Arts Pool Mixed Layering Papers.

To create my snowflake I took an everyday stamp set Shine Bright

and repeatedly stamped the image circled above to create some fun snowflakes!

The silver ink looks so pretty with a hint of shimmer on the colored cardstock!!

The sentiment was white heat embossed from the Home Baked by Lia set.

To add a little more white detail to the card, I used Hero Arts Unicorn ink to stamp out

some smaller “flakes” to fill in some space.

Here they are individually…

I was trying to make a one layer card, but really wanted more bling so I added some

Hero Arts gemstones to the center of my snowflakes.

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

Whether or not it’s cold where you are, imagine snowflakes and maybe you’ll see them in this die like I did. It’s actually called Blooming Flower Die, but I thought “snowflake” when I bought it.

blooming flowerIt’s Chark here today with a simple winter project. The process is easy, but it does take a little time to put a 3-D snowflake together, just because it’s delicate. I used blue glitter paper, teal foiled paper and white cardstock. I liked white cardstock like Hero Arts layering paper the best—especially after I added the Diamond Stickles.

IMG_2970 IMG_2973 IMG_2979 The foil paper and the glitter papers worked fine, but the back of each is white, so when you fold and glue, you might see a bit of that white peeking through. You could always ink the back to match the color of your paper (though it won’t be shiny) if you don’t love the white.

To make your own snowflakes

1. Die cut 5 flower shapes and fold each one in half, with the glitter/foil side folded toward the inside.

2. Adhere the outside (the white side of the paper) of one shape to the outside (the white side) of the next shape.

3. Glue all 5 together and add an ornament hook, string or wire to attach the snowflake to a Christmas tree.

You could also string these to hang on a mantle or staircase banister. I used clear liquid glue, but white glue or a glue dot runner would work too. Tape runners won’t work, since the tape might show through the die cut holes. I added the Stickles to the all-white one by just squeezing some out and running my fingers along the snowflake to cover. You can see the glitter a little in this photo.

IMG_3036I love the look of these and plan to make some more white sparkly ones to hang on my dining room chandelier for the holiday season.

Warmest Wishes….

Welcome!   It’s Lisa, (ThePurplePlace),  here today and I have two new cards to share in hopes that I can inspire you to take part in this month’s “Fall or Christmas” themed challenge and also to help you with some ideas for your own Christmas or Winter cards this year.   You can link directly to the challenge from our side bar,  ——>>>>>

I love to create all my own handmade cards each year and one of them favorite themes is often snow related, even through I dread it when it’s actually bitterly cold and snowy here.  The only day I love to see a fresh new coating of snow is on Christmas morning and if that was the only day it snowed all year, that would be fine with me.  I’m a summer girl by heart, but do also very much love the Christmas spirit and season.    I also love to use what I think would be considered non-traditional Christmas colors on my cards and did that on both of these, using a mix of the lovely shades of Teal and Aqua that Hero Arts has in their wonderful ink and spray line.

I’m also excited to be sharing some of my newest Hero goodies, along with a mix of some of my Hero Stamps from previous years.  In my opinion, you can never have too many “Christmas Stamps” and of course the matching elements that go along with them.   When I saw the new combo stamp/die sets in the new “Handmade for Christmas” catalog, I knew that I they would be a perfect addition to my Christmas stash and I put them to good use right away in making these two new cards.

My first card started a with a pretty soft pool card base and I used my new “Let It Snow” Stamp n Cuts” set to cut a window directly into the front of my card.  Next, I took the matching stamp and inked it up in a Hero’s Ocean ink and carefully stamped it directly through the window to the inside of my card.  I then chose a selection of snowflakes and randomly stamped them all over my card, in shades of teal and white.   I die cut a second snowflake, stamped it in Versamark and then heat embossed it in white and used foam tape to pop that one up off my card.   To finish my card, I used a variety of Hero’s gems, pearls and snowflakes, with a few Prima Crystals to embellishthe center of each snowflake.  I really love that extra sparkle that “bling” adds to any card.

Warm Wishes for a2z 09-015.

My second card is also another fun Snowflake themed card, also created in these shades I love.  You can however change them to be any color or create with the more traditional red and green that so many of you love.   The fun part about stamping is that there are so many fabulous ink colors now available, that we can basically create with any color of the rainbow.  I have a love of Hero’s Shadow Inks and am very happy to now own every color.  I even love the wonderful little cube sets that are now available so that you can try new colors, and not necessarily have to buy the large pads, until you know you love a color!   I actually used Versamark as my ink on this next card and then heat embossed each of the snowflakes in Hero’s White Embossing powder directly onto a strip of “Snow Day Patterned Paper” from Lawn Fawn.    I finished off this card by adding some Sequins and a Prima Crystal, along with my Sentiment which is from an older Hero Arts Sentiment Set called “Holiday Sayings”.

Peace Love Joy Snowflakes a2z
