Peek-a-boo Hero Arts Purr Kitties card

Hi guys and hello August!

It’s Erica back on the blog today with another cat-i-licious card. I think it will be a safe bet to expect a few purrfect puns along the way, I ‘cat’ seem to help myself. The stamp set I’m talking about for todays card and post, is of course none other than the fur-tastic¬†Hero Arts Purr.

For this card I wanted to make my own patterned paper and colour that with my Zig markers, which meant grabbing my Stathmore Bristol Vellum card stock and MFT hybrid ink in Black Licorice again. I selected the ūüé∂little balls of fur… sorry, yarn. Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory managed to hack into my account and add his little feline twist. Right, anyway, the little ball of yarn and the cute mouse got selected, mounted on small acrylic blocks and then it was just a case of going crazy like a kitty with catnip!

When all the images were stamped on the card stock, I got a green, yellow, blue, red and pink Zig marker out and proceeded to colour in the balls of yarn. Instead of going random here, I kept each line the same colour. The little mice got coloured in with a warm grey marker for the bodies and a slight pink for those big ears.

The kitties I had already coloured and ready to be cut out using the coordinating frame cut , from my first post which you can find¬†here, and I selected a couple of them that looked like they were curious because which can’t isn’t curious?? Well, the idea was to cut out a hole in the panel, mount it on a card base and then pop the kitties inside the hole, like they are peeking out and can’t believe their luck to see so much yarn and mice. Sounds like a pawesome cat paradise, huh?

FullSizeRender 6

The card base I chose for this card is a mid dark grey card stock and I thought it would create a nice contrast for the kitties without washing them out (The one I have used here is from Simon Say Stamp but you can find a similar colour in this pack .) Black was too harsh and white was too bland. I like these different greys as they give a much softer look than black card stock. Plus I thought it tied in nicely with the yarn.. sorry, mice!

The peek-a-boo hole I cut out using a die-namic from MFT, called (unsurprisingly) Peek A Boo. Before I mounted the front panel to the card base, I covered the whole back of it with double sided foam tape. If you don’t have foam tape (excuse me while I go freak ooooooout! I am obsessed with foam tape!) you don’t need, I just like it to add a little bit of interest and dimension to a card without adding anything that shows if that makes sense?

To make sure the kitties showed the way I wanted them I added them to the front panel’s foam tape and once it was on the card, I added a little bit of adhesive behind them to make sure they didn’t run off.

This card doesn’t have a human language sentiment on it, just a feline one. I stamped up the ‘meow’ speech bubble and cut that out with the coordinating frame cut before adding it to the card with some more foam tape. (Hi, my name is Erica and I’m addicted to foam tape!)

As one last little flourish, I added some clear droplets from Studio Katia, in two different sizes. I thought they fitted better, being spheres, rather than sequins. The patterned paper is probably enough if you aren’t an ‘use all the embellishments’-kind of crafter. If you prefer gemstones you can find some¬†clear ones here.

Here is the full card. I hope you will leave feeling inspired to make your own patterned paper or a card using these cutie kitties.

See you all soon and happy crafting!

Erica

Save Our National Parks

Hero Arts Tags and Destinations

I’ve always liked the Hero Arts Tags dies. ¬†You can let your creative juices go. ¬†If you’ve never seen the National parks in the U.S., you really should. ¬†My family traveled in the summer to different natural places. ¬†Memories of the colored pools and geysers in Yellowstone will last the rest of my life. ¬†Incredible views and experiences. ¬†I used some Oxide distress inks here with a sentiment and a couple Destination wood stamps.

Have fun creating.

Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade and Broken China oxide inks spritzed with water.  Hero Arts sentiment out of stock.

Wilted Violet, Fossilized Amber, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China Oxide Inks spritzed with a homemade colored water.  Two very old cheap moon and clouds stamps were added.        Sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

Iced Spruce, Cracked Pistachio, Fired Brick and Fossilized Amber Oxide Inks were spritzed with water and an 1992 Stampin Up postmark added.  Buffalo colored with Copic marker W3 and trees colored with G03.  Sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set.

My samples are at A Bit of This and That.

Hero Arts I’m a Puffer For You Birthday Fishes Card

Hi! Sue here with another card for you. When I saw this stamp set, I knew that I had to have it. I mean, the images are so cute and I loved the somewhat “punny” sentiments.

Here’s my card

I stamped the three fish, using a permanent black ink onto watercolour paper. I then added colour using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I used two different colours per fish. I found that if I lightly spritzed the images with some water before applying the colour, that the colours blended better. I fussy-cut the fish and added some googly eyes – improvement, right? For the background, I smooshed distress inks (tumbled glass, salty ocean) onto watercolour paper. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I popped the purple fish up with dimensionals to add a bit of variety.

Enjoy the Journey

Hero Arts Enjoy the Journey With Destinations for your calendar

This is a continuation of my calendar that I posted on June 4th.

And here it is July 4th, time to celebrate.  Happy 4th of July!

I think the Destination stamps are great stamps to use if you are journeying to one of these destinations. ¬†Sending a “Wish you were here” note might be kind of sappy, but you can certainly stamp any Destination stamp on a post card and write a little something.

I liked the National Parks for September and October because those are end of summer travels where you can still enjoy the parks. ¬†Some light touches of markers and you’re ready to go. ¬†Remember that the calendars are double-sided, so you don’t want to use inks or markers that will show on the back of your coloring.

You can see I’m not quite straight on the stamping, but it’s not so noticeable on the actual calendar. ¬†I used some older markers that don’t bleed through the papers.

Very simple coloring kept the calendar pages pretty neat and clean.

But November sports a nautical scene while December is sparkly and wintery.

The panel of wood the calendar page is resting on is a thin wood, pre-sticky piece which I won (EK TOOLS). ¬†I thought it would suit the “wooden” ships. ¬†I stamped and die cut the wood panels and only colored some of the sails. ¬†A close-up will show you what I mean.

Close-up of November’s scene. ¬†All of the details you see are from one stamp set and one Die set, even the waves. Say hello to Enjoy the Journey.

End of the 2017 year for the first year of my calendar. ¬†The Hero Arts Layering Christmas Tree looks great for a forest of trees. ¬†I wanted a bright season so I die cut some gold paper (unknown brand) with an Elizabeth Craft Designs die. ¬†I wasn’t going to stamp a tree directly on the calendar, only the top, but the mini stamp pad landed directly on the calendar. ¬†Oops – save the page by using the green stamp mark as a base for the tree.

Hero Arts CM130 Color Layering Hydrangea Shape Card

Hi! It’s Sue. Can’t believe that it’s almost the end of June. It’s crazy how fast time flies. I have a shape card here for you. ¬†Here’s my card

I love the Hero Arts Color Layering stamp sets. It makes creating beautiful images so easy – Hero Arts has done the “hard work”. I just need to align the various stamps. With my MISTI, it’s pretty easy. There is enough variability on the bloom “background”, that orienting the upper layers requires a bit of rotation, but it becomes pretty obvious where to stamp the upper layers. I fussy cut the bloom. I repeated the process for the three leaves.

To “fit in” with this month’s challenge here at a2z Scrapbooking, I made a circle card. I cut the card with a 3.75″ circle die. I adhered the flower, overlapping the edge of the circle and attached a purple banner, with the sentiment from the same stamp set. The card will still fit into a regular A2 envelope.

I’d Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts

I’d Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts!!! Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you another shaped card and my last card as a Designer for a2z Scrapbooking Supplies. These two years have been amazing to me but I am leaving the team because I need to take care of some personal things but I want to let you know that I love my time sharing with you and creating with amazing products.

I'd Never Forget You a2z Scrapbooking Supplies and Hero Arts

To make my card I used a Circle Stitched Die Cut that I cut twice. The first time with the card stock folded to create the card base and the second using a single layer of card stock that I decorated and pasted over the base.

  1. Use the Spiral Petals Stencil and the Hero Arts Aegean Bold Ink to create the background with the ombre effect. I used a sponge to have better control over the effect.
  2. Stamp the flowers including on the stamp set Color Layering Hibiscus using three different colors of ink. For the base I used the Butter Bar and for the accent I used the Red Royal, colors included on the collection Water Lilies Layering. For the center of the flowers I used Hero Arts Moss Hybrid Ink.
  3. Fussy cut the flowers or use the corresponding die cuts, Color Layering Hibiscus Frame.
  4. Stamp the leafs using Hero Arts Moss Hybrid Ink for the base and Hero Arts Pine Ink.
  5. Fussy cut the leafs or use the corresponding die cuts, Color Layering Hibiscus Frame.
  6. Assemble the flowers and leafs on the top of your card using dimensionals and snail adhesive.
  7. Stamp the sentiment from the stamp set I’d Never Forget You using Hero Arst Intensive Black Ink.

Love by Lia Hero Arts Stamp Set

Love by Lia Hero Arts Stamp Set

You Make my Heart Smile with Hero Arts. This is the sentiment that I selected to create my card. It is part of the stamp set Love by Lia and I used a non traditional form in my creations. Welcome to another “Take Shape” inspiration sample.

Love by Lia Hero Arts Stamp Set

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here with you to share a card with banner or tail fish shape. I really love to receive cards with different shapes and this is sample that you can use and put easily in an envelope because it is a regular size. To cut this I used a double stitched banner from Peek a Boo Designs and I kept my card stock folded on top and below the die border to give my card form.

Then I cut a stitched rectangle on whisper white card stock and stamped over the right side one of the sentiments that came included on the stamp set Love by Lia. I love this set because the sentiments and fonts that are included on it are a great size and very useful. I pasted the stitched rectangle directly over the top of the banner.

Love by Lia Hero Arts Stamp Set

To complete the card, I stamped four little envelopes over decorated paper and fussy cut them with my scissors to paste over the card using dimensionals and snail adhesive. The final touch, two loops of red and white bakers twine.

All the images from the stamp set Love by Lia were stamped with Hero Arts Intensive Black Ink.

What do you think?  Please let know below.

A Calendar Bold Prints w/ Hero Arts Stamps

Home made calendar. ¬†The first photo shows the front and back covers of my calendar. ¬†They are cut from a Graphics 45 paper pad (12″ X 12″). ¬†No idea of the name of the paper pad or when I purchased it. ¬†I just fell in love the the cover and it’s perfect for my calendar. ¬†No stamping yet. ¬†The poinsettia is die cut from a Elizabeth Craft Designs die here. ¬†I had made it and not used it. ¬†It’s the perfect color and I just had to use it on the cover.

I chose double-sided papers to go into the calendar and stamped front and back of each page with the Hero Arts Calendar Bold Prints stamp. ¬†I was wondering if some of the patterns would obscure the stamp, but it didn’t. ¬†I have no trouble making notes and printing and using digital stamps and regular stamping on the pages. The umbrellas are from a Hero Arts cut file at A2Z ¬† I¬†started my calendar mid-March and April is on the back of March. ¬†June is on the back of the May Calendar page. ¬†I have all kinds of notes and love the page. ¬†A key die-cut from a soda can is covered with a silver pen.

May is a celebration of Carnaval in San Francisco on May 27 and 28. ¬†That’s why I chose the paper and Destination San Francisco stamp which can be custom ordered through A2Z or at Hero Arts here..

You can see the calendar below the “APRIL” die cut letters. ¬† I can still write dates and info in the squares. ¬†I stamped the umbrella with the wood block Destination Paris stamp on the umbrella. ¬†The umbrellas are from a cut files available at A2Z, called Weather Cuts Digital File.

Calendar Bold Prints

Calendar Bold Prints

The butterflies for June are from a stamp set available at A2Z Scrapbooking called Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies.

July is bright and cherry with flowers as the background.   I thought the new stamp set Hero Arts Enjoy the Journey was perfect for this enchanting background.  A bottle with some nautical images is perfect for this calendar.  I know I will enjoy this so much.

The pattern for August may not be as imposing or enchanting as other patterns, but I would love to travel out of the hot valley here in Sacramento, maybe in a ship.

The ships from Enjoy the Journey work for me.

You can catch me at A Bit of This and That.

COLOR LAYERING FLAMINGO SENTIMENT

COLOR LAYERING FLAMINGO SENTIMENT

Hello dear friends, Martha Lucia here to share with you a sentiment that I love and that comes with a great stamp set Color Layering Flamingo from Hero Arts. This is the month of the sentiments and my card says it all! Take a look:

COLOR LAYERING FLAMINGO SENTIMENT

To create my card I used regal rose card stock for the first layer and decorated paper for the second one. To stamp the Flamingo image I used three different colors of pink inks. First I stamped the legs of the Flamingo using Soft Granite Ink, and with my MISTI i stamped the image twice.  Then I stamped the body of the flamingo. For the base layer I used Soft Pink Ink, for the second layer I used  Bubble Gum Ink and for the last detailed layer I used Rose Madder Bold Ink.

COLOR LAYERING FLAMINGO SENTIMENT

I fussy cut with my scissors the Flamingo and pasted directly over the decorated card base using OnPoint Glue. I added some pink and silver sequins and finally added a banner using one of the sentiments that came on the Color Layering Flamingo stamp set. This sentiment came in a different way but I edited it to have a horizontal line.

If you like any of the products I used on my card, please stop over at the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store. You can use the code Martha15 to receive 15% off of a $25.00 order.

Hero Arts Color Layering Fuchsia

Hi! It’s Sue here with a new card for you. I used Hero Arts CL124 Color Layering Fuchsia stamp set. This stamp set makes me look like a pro-crafter. It’s so easy to use and the end result is quite amazing. Here’s my card

I¬†stamped different inks with each step. Using my MISTI, makes it quite easy to line up the stamps. I wasn’t sure how to finish the card. ¬†I decided on cutting the focal image into a large oval. I popped up the oval using a slightly smaller oval, cut out of fun foam on a dark purple background.¬†I used silver embossing powder for the sentiment.

We’d love for you to join us at our challenge for May. Please just be sure that the focal image on your card showcases a Hero Arts product.

If you’re looking for Hero Arts products, consider shopping online at¬†a2z Scrapbooking etsy store. When your cart exceeds $25, use my code sue15 for 15% off your purchase.
