Cardinal Tag

Hero Arts Monthly Challenge

Hello all Monica here today with a project to share. I made a tag today as I’m still gearing up for Christmas and wondering if I’ll ever get done!

I started by embossing the background in clear ink. Then embossed the bird and sentiment in black. I colored the background with distress ink and used copics to color my cardinal. To finish off the tag I added some lace and glitter tape, as well as some ribbon and twine.

Here is a close up of the glitter embossing…

Tags using Hero Arts Color Layering For You Flowers

Hi friends! I’m back with some super fun tags; there are several layers so I considered those layers my embellishments. 😀 I didn’t want to make them too bulky by adding much more to them.

I hope you’ll join our challenge this month, EMBELLISH IT; we love seeing your creations! And don’t forget, you can save 15% off your purchase of $25+ at the Etsy store, just use code: MicheleG15! And if you don’t see something in stock, be sure to ask as they are happy to do custom orders! Now…down to b’ness!

Hero Arts Monthly Challenge

I started by stamping the 3rd layer of the For You Color Layering flower in Versamark and embossed with Ranger Liquid Platinum. I also stamped a couple leaves in the lower corner of each tag. I initially applied a water color layer using Zig Clean Color Brushes but it was just too soft, so I let them dry then added more rich red color using the Zig brushes directly to the paper. I added a wee bit of green to the leaves. I added a couple layers of wash using two brown Zig brushes for a bit of a vintage look.

I topped each tag with some ‘newspaper like’ designer paper I had on hand, then sponged the edges with Old Paper distress ink. I spritzed each with sparkle shimmer mist – impossible to see in the photos, but it’s there and oh so sparkly! I then added a layer of red to the back of each tag so you can include a message or a name, tied on a layer of vellum stamped and embossed with the word JOY using ribbon and twine.

Thanks for popping in, don’t forget to join our challenge this month!

Holiday Houses with Nesting Dies

Embellish a Holiday House on a Hero Arts Tag

Time to embellish a tag.   I like seeing lots of snow ready to fall, but I don’t have to live in it.  I can see snow on the mountains in the winter and that’s good enough for me.  If I want to get closer, I can take a couple hours drive and bingo.    I guess that’s why I loaded this house with snow.  I like to see it.  I really like the new Nesting Tag dies too.  This is the larges and a really great size.  I paired the smallest of the tag set for a HO HO HO.

Be sure to visit the fun stamps and digital sets at A2Z.

Hello crafty friends, are you ready for the season? Today I have a Hero Arts Coffee Cup Christmas Card to share with you and I wish to share the coffee too but it is not possible yet! Welcome to my day on our blog and let me show my card and tell you how I made it. Take a look:

Creating this card was very easy! I used two different stamp sets and the corresponding die cuts from Hero Arts, the Coffee Cut Tags and Die Cuts and the Happy Holly Days and Frame Cuts.

  1. Cut the base of the card using Whisper White card stock. The size is 5-1/2″x8-1/2″ with score in 4-1/4″
  2. Cut a second layer of decorated paper and place in diagonal angle over the card base. Cut the excess and paste directly over the base.
  3. On a separate piece of card stock stamp the leaves from the stamp set Happy Holly Days using VersaMark and Hero Arst Gold Embossing Powder.
  4. Melt the powder with the heat tool and cut the with the corresponding die cuts.
  5. Decorate the center of the fruits with Red Berry Crystal Drops.
  6. On a separate piece of card stock stamp one of the designs of the cups using Red Royal Shadow Ink for the cup and Forever Green Shadow Ink for the Cap and tag. Both inks are from Hero Arts.
  7. Cut all the stamped pieces using the corresponding die cuts.
  8. Paste the leaves on the left side of the cup using glue dots and the cup on the right side of the card using dimensionals.
  9. If you want you can add some dots of green crystal drops.

Do you remember the theme of November’s Challenge? It is embellishment! And as you noticed I embellished my card with gold embossing powder, crystal drops and different layers. It was easy and you can do the same. And the best part is that you can use my discount code in a2z Scrapbooking Store to buy these or any other Hero Arts product with the 15% off and now they are also offering free shipping until Christmas, you only need to use my discount code MARTHA15 and enjoy your shopping! Only one thing, if you don’t find what you are looking, don’t get upset, just request the product and they will help you!

I hope my project inspires you and come back soon for my ideas. Leave me your comments, I would love to know what you think!

See you soon and happy week!

Hero Arts Rings and Coffee Cup Tags

Hi friends – have you had time to play along with our EMBELLISH IT challenge? We love stopping by to leave you some love on your creations – join us!

Remember, you can shop our Etsy store any time and save 15% by using code: MicheleG15; and if I’ve used something you don’t see in the store, just ask, they happily do custom orders!

Now, let’s get to creating shall we? Funny how you start with an idea in your head and in the end, it takes a 180! 😉 I totally CASE’d (copy and share everything) THIS card from MFT Stamps but used the Hero Arts Coffee Cup Tags, Rings Bold Prints background stamp (as coffee rings in my eyes) and the Infinity Tags for a fun little gift card tag holder!

I originally thought I would make a full size A2 card but after all the water coloring, die cutting and stamping was done I sat there for a solid 10 minutes staring at everything and it just wasn’t working. HA! Voila – a gift card tag holder was born. Not original, but it worked for the size ratio I felt I needed for the coffee cup.

I started off with some water color paper I received a few months ago in a Hero Arts Monthly kit; stamped the Rings Bold Prints background stamp in VersaMark and covered with Hero Arts clear embossing powder. I then used various distress inks to lay down some watercolor; I kinda liked the red hue from the Tea Dye distress ink so gravitated towards those colors. The coffee cup, the sleeve and the lid were all cut from designer paper and sponged with various distress inks. The coffee cup was rather plain,  so I used the leaves and berries in the stamp set to clear emboss over the cup – love how this added just the right texture! I embelished the cup with a little wooden heart from my stash.

I cut another tag from Hero Arts Earth paper to place on the back, then cut the bottom portion of the tag again from designer paper cutting across the top with some decorative scissors and adhered this piece just around the edges so I could slip in a gift card. Finished it off with some twine colored with a burgundy copic so you can add it to a package or hang it on a tree!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you’ll share your creations with us this month!

Paper Layering Santa Face

Hi, friends, Chark here today to show you some gift tags I made with the adorable Santa Face Paper Layering die. I love the size of this die cut for a tag, it’s just right. You could also use it to make cards, it would fit perfectly on a standard card as well.

For the first two tags, I used white cardstock and Tombow markers for the watercoloring I did. I also used nontraditional colors for his hat to make them a little more fun.

For my last tag, I die cut Santa from ivory cardstock, and primarily used Prismacolor pencils for a more realistic look. I applied him to a hand-drawn stocking gift card holder I made with vintage-looking paper. I traced around a gift card to get the size I need for the stocking and cut two pieces of red cardstock, then I debossed the stocking with an embossing folder and added the music paper and small fabric flowers and holly leaves. Make sure you leave the top open to slip in the gift card.

Making these was fun and I know I’ll need a lot of tags soon, so it’s a good thing I already started! You could put the names on the back of the tag if you like or use letter stickers instead of handwriting. Here’s the Hero Arts Santa die I used…you might notice I gave my Santa tags a little bit of an eyelid, which I thought made him look more realistic. He looks pretty cute either way…and yep, he’s on sale right now in the store—pick him up for just $12.90! And if you end up with $25+ in your cart, you can use the code CHARK15 to get 15% off your purchase.

Don’t forget to join us for a brand-new challenge for a chance to win $25 to the a2z store. Click here to see how to enter…and good luck!

Hero Arts Color Laying Flowers

Hi friends – welcome back for another ‘layering‘ project! I started out thinking this would be a fun tag and it evolved into a heavily embellished card. 😀

My tag is die cut and stamped with Memory Box’s distressed tag in MFT Steel Grey ink, 2nd generation. The layering flowers were stamped with Worn Lipstick, Barn Door, and Fired Brick; the leaves with Black Soot – 3rd and 2nd generation.

Once the tag was complete I decided to toss it on a card with some fun polka dot paper then I remembered this ribbon treatment that I LOVE to do but hadn’t done in ages…voila, the ribbon down the side! ❤ Swoon!

I sprayed the tag with frost shimmer mist – impossible to see in the photos – but it’s there and so sparkly! I added some pearls, sequins and white enamel dots to finish it off and mounted the focal point with black fun foam.

Don’t forget, shop our Etsy store and receive 15% off you order of $25+ by using code ‘MicheleG15‘…and if you don’t see what you are looking for, they do custom orders – just ask!

Thanks for stopping by; hope to see YOUR layered project this month!!

September Winners

Hi, crafty friends, it’s Chark here today to announce the September Make It a Tag Challenge Winners. It’s always fun to see what you all create and this month was no different…and the choosing is always difficult, because you guys are so talented!

Our top pick this month and the winner of a $25 gift certificate to the store is Maura! This card with the tag is all kinds of perfect for fall, great colors, great design and great stamping! Nice job, Maura! Please contact us at a2zscrapbooking@comcast.net to claim your gift code.

Our Honorable Mentions this month literally all tied for second place! Our runners-up win a blog badge and bragging rights to tell everyone how much our DT loved their entries! Just email the above address to ask for your blog buttons.

Our first and second Honorable Mention is LaVon! LaVon entered a lot of beautiful projects this month and we loved her entries. The two that got the most attention were these two. Her Autumn card has beautiful color and design, and I love the placement of the sentiment too!

Check out LaVon’s flickr account to see her Fall Card in all its beautiful detail. Flickr protects its photos so you can’t just copy them, which is cool, but I wanted you to at least take a fuzzy peek at it here 🙂

This second one is definitely a joy, see what I did there? It’s got a great color scheme and that fab snowflake die and my personal favorite, glitter!

Our next Honorable Mention is Sally with her adorable tag/gift card holder. Clever, cute and just right for the holidays, Sally’s entry is definitely a keeper!

Because LaVon tied with herself, we’ve added another blog badge winner and that is Andrea with this lovely pink poinsettia tag. The greens and golds set off the pink of the flower beautifully, and the baker’s twine is a perfect little addition.

Thanks to everyone who entered and congrats to these four ladies! Don’t forget to link up your creation for the October Layer It Challenge here to try to win your own $25 gift code.

And if you need some Hero Arts products to play along, the a2z Scrapbooking store is fully stocked with the newest products for fall, winter and the holidays, check it out here.

Happy Friday!

Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies

Tag Me With Coloring Layering Butterflies

I thought of silver butterflies; I don’t know why.  But I went with it and I was happily surprised at the results.  The silver embossing just shines, but I couldn’t catch the sparkle just right.  I hope you enjoy the butterflies just flitting by on these tags.
