Hero Arts Asian Flower Stencil Faux Bleaching Thank You Card

It’s my turn to post my card here at a2z Scrapbooking.

I started by using my ink blending tool and distress inks (wilted violet, barn door, abandoned coral, picked raspberry, carved pumpkin) randomly on a 96 lb bristol card panel. It’s important to either use watercolour paper or heavyweight bristol. I chose bright colours to go with the current challenge here at a2z Scrapbooking – “Bright and Beautiful”.  I pulled out my Hero Arts Asian Flower stencil, spritzed it well, with water. I placed the stencil, water-side down onto the inked panel. I let the stencil sit for a bit to permit the distress inks under the stencil to get “bleached”. I carefully lifted the stencil and with some paper towel, mopped up any puddles of water. I trimmed the panel down and added an orange panel, stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Color Layering Fuchsia. To complete the card, I added a thin purple strip of cardstock.

Hero Arts Thank You Die & More

hero arts thank you die.jpg

We are coming to the end of December and that means you still have time to enter our “Anything but a Card” Challenge!  I hope you will join us for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the a2zscrapbooking store.

Today I have a few gift card holders I made for my stash.  These are easy to make and they make the gift of a giftcard a little more special!  The red and green ones were made with big Hero Arts background stamp, one was stamped and the other heat embossed in clear to give a tone on tone look.  The third background was made by swiping a Hero Art’s ombre ink pad straight down the card stock!  I had a lot of fun decorating these with Hero Arts flowers, and stamps and die cuts.

These are the supplies I used from the store:

Don’t forget, you can use code Angie15 to get 15% off your purchase of $25 or more (excluding shipping) at the a2zscrapbooking store.

CASEing Kelly Blog Hop

CASEing Kelly Blog Hop Banner
Hello everyone!! Welcome to the beginning of this awesome hop for our fabulous friend, Kelly Latevola!!  The entire list is down below so that you can hop along and visit all of the talented designers who appreciative of Kelly.

Kelly has designed for us since the beginning!  We love her work and are so grateful for her.  We are sad to see her go! She will surely be missed!!

To show our appreciation, everyone participating in this hop, has CASED Kelly!!  Yes, we were tasked with the job of picking 3 of her cards and making 1 card inspired by those three cards!!

Lets get started:

DSCN0114

I love how the pink and gold feathers are peeking out from the side of the card.  So very pretty and adds dimension to the card.

DSCN0480

This card caught my eye because of the colors Kelly used to create it.  So vibrant and rich.

DSCN0493

Yes, how could you not love this card.  Doesn’t that hello look like its popped off the flower stem?  It isn’t .  Super cool.  I love the edge of the front panel.  So unique and different.

The CASE:

Thanks (CASE)

I created a blue watercolor panel to add to the side of my card front like Kelly’s first card. The blue is so vibrant and rich, which is the look I was going for. Then I die cut a tag and sentiment like Kelly’s second card. I love the side panel cut off that I had to create that as well. I added some white dots along side boarder for an added touch.  CASEing Kelly was fun for sure!!

Take a closer look:

Thanks close up (CASE)

Thanks Kelly for supporting us since the beginning.  You will always have a place over here at a2z Scrapbooking!! We know for sure, we will see you in the blog universe!!!

Vellum Shaker Flower

Hi everyone,

Cindy here to share another shaker card.  Now that I’ve got a few under my belt I want to try something different.  I brought the shaker element out in front, and I didn’t fill it with sequins or seed beads or party favors or punch out bits.  Want to take a guess?!  🙂

You must see the card first:

IMG_6952

Any idea?  Read on and you will find the answer.

My process:

  • Stamp Hero Arts Small Striped Flower with Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment ink on vellum and heat emboss with white EP.  Stamp once more.
  • Stack the vellum piece matching the pattern with emboss piece on top, sew around flower leaving an opening about an inch long.
  • Pry open the vellum pocket and fill with some Forget-Me-Not flower seeds.
  • Sew up opening to seal.  Trim the excess vellum keeping just the flower.  This now becomes the shaker element.
  • Die cut two leaves using the leaf die from the Hero Arts Frame Cut Scallop set from green CS.  Use paper trimmer to cut thin strip for stem.  Distress with distress ink Broken China.
  • Die cut stitch label, use a white gen pen to trace over the stitched line.
  • Die cut “thanks” using Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Thanks from deep blue CS.
  • Cut two panels from deep blue CS and pattern paper.
  • Assemble all elements as shown.
  • Add Wink of Stella Clear to vellum flower.

Here are a few close up shots, unfortunately I couldn’t get the Wink of Stella to show up.  It’s quite delicate.

I assure you even you don’t see the flower seeds very clearly, I hear the ‘chic chic’ sound when I shake it!  That’s part of shaker fun right?  🙂   I hope I’ve inspired you to come play the September challenge – Shake It Up with us.  If you need some supplies for you project visit the a2z store, and while you’re there you’d want to check out the Sale section, lots of great deals there.  Feel free to use promote code Cindy15 at check out to obtain 15% off any purchase of $25 or more (shipping not included).

Flower Trio Thank You

Aloha Everyone!  It’s Niki G. here to share a Clean and Simple card to go with this month’s challenge theme!

In today’s card I used the very versatile Hero Arts BasicGrey Shine Bright Stamp Set

HABGShineBright

I’ve been using this stamp set to create backgrounds, but in today’s card

I’m using a single image and masking.

HAA2Ztriflowerthx

I initially stamped the center flower which is the full image, then used some tape

to mask off the bottom leaves to create a shorter flower…like this…

HAmaskingflower

I took my ink pad and inked it up then removed the tape before pressing onto my card panel.

Tip: I had a few spots that didn’t ink well, so I took a permanent fine tip marker and filled in the lines where it needed!

Here’s a closeup…

HAA2Ztriflowerthx2

I colored the images with copic markers and outlined them with a light gray copic to create some dimension.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Stamp Your Own Fruit which I cut apart.

The card panel was adhered to a Hero Arts Blush Folded Card.

That’s it for me!  Hope this inspires you to join us!!

Link up your Clean and Simple projects using Hero Arts products HERE for your chance

to win a $25 gift certificate to the store!

Mahalo!

Niki

Thank You and You and You!

Hi everyone – Jennifer from Caffeinated Papercuts here with a whole set of cards for you today. Yes, it was one of those times when I started stamping and just couldn’t stop!

2015-05-14 09.02.46These came together so, so fast. Honestly the hardest part was me messing with the silver thread! You can easily create these assembly-line style and have a lovely stack of thank you notes (or anything else from the Stamp & Cuts line) in no time at all.

The layers are simple:
-start with a top-folding, A2 card base
-stamp your background stamp (in this case, the big Thanks stamp) onto a piece of 4.25″x5.5″ white cardstock, then trim 1/8″ off each side to make it 4″ wide
-die cut the lovely ‘thanks’ sentiment out of foil paper
-die cut some vellum circles, big enough to fit most of the sentiment and hide the glue for the thread
-assemble: base card, stamped cardstock, silver thread, vellum circle, ‘thanks’ die cut

2015-05-14 09.03.10

That’s it! You now have a handful of beautiful cards ready for giving. Here’s a close-up of the colors I used:

thank you cards hero arts

Butter Bar and Tide Pool inks

Soft Green and Bubble Gum inks

Soft Green and Bubble Gum inks

Cup O' Joe and Soft Purple inks

Cup O’ Joe and Soft Purple inks

These would work great for our current May Challenge – Anything Goes! Just be sure to use a ‘hard’ Hero Arts product (stencil, stamp, die cut, etc.)

Supplies Used:
Hero Arts Shadow Inks – Soft Green, Butter Bar, Cup O’ Joe, Bubble Gum, Tide Pool, Soft Purple
Hero Arts Thank You/Thanks Wood Mounted stamp
Hero Arts Stamp & Cuts Thanks
Paper – Bazzill Vellum, Bazzill Chocolate Malt, Neenah Solar White cardstock, DCWV Foiled Solid paper pad
DMC Metallic Light Silver Embroidery Thread

Thanks for Being Awesome

Hey everyone – Jennifer here with one last stenciling idea for you before the challenge closes tonight! I’m rediscovering my love of vellum and decided to use it as a means to soften my stenciled image. I love bright, bold colors on a card but sometimes they make it hard to read or see your sentiment…vellum to the rescue!

I started by using my Deco Pattern stencil to jazz up some white cardstock with three colors of ink – Butter Bar, Cornflower Blue, and Green Hills.

2015-04-28 21.47.59While that dried a little (it doesn’t take long), I cut a piece of vellum the same size as my stenciled piece, 4″x5.25″, and heat embossed a sentiment in gold using the Thanks Stamp & Cuts set.

2015-04-29 08.22.45

See how you can read the sentiment and still see the stenciled pattern? Perfect! I used a bit of vellum adhesive on just the top of the panel so you can still flip it up and see the stenciling if you wish.

2015-04-29 08.22.51

Some adhesive to stick the whole panel down to some Candy Apple Bazzil cardstock and this fun card was done! Super quick and easy with stunning results.
