I love to Color!!

It’s one of my favorite ways to create and is always so fun and relaxing.   When I read that this month’s challenge was “Color it Up” I knew it would be perfect for me.

I started my card with one of my favorite Hero Art stamp sets (Making the World a Better Place), and a piece of watercolor paper.   I stamped this pretty floral image with black Versafine and broke out my Copic Markers – my go to color medium!   Once I finished my coloring I used a stitched die to cut out my image and layered it onto to shades of Bazzill Cardstock.  Next, using my new “Thanks” Stamp & Cut” die set, i die cut mu sentiment in “spearmint stick” cardstock.  I finished off my sweet little card by adding a bit of 3d Crystal Lacquer to my image, for some texture and shine, and then simply added a bit more sparkle with some matching Hero Arts gems.

Color It In

You Make Me Smile!!

Good Morning!     Today, here in the United States, we are celebrating Veteran’s Day.   A special day of remembrance to honor and thank all the Men and Women who proudly protect and serve our country.   I would also like to extend those wishes to Veteran’s from each and every country – all over the world.   Thank you for serving your Country and protecting us all from harm.    You are all Heroes and I greatly admire you service and support!   Thank YOU!

VeteransDayHonorThanks

I have two new cards to share today and both of these were created using a this wonderful “Hero Arts/Basic Grey” stamp set, called “You Make Me Smile”.   You’ll find this set along with several of the other products I used for these cards, over at the a2z Scrapbooking Store!     NOTE:  I am also including an “Inlinkz” product list at the bottom on the post to link you to all these supplies!

You Make Me Smile – CL781

Hero Arts BasicGrey Grand Bazaar You Make Me Smile CL781

I really enjoyed working with this set and now have all kinds of new ideas to use it for more cards.    I love the set name and think having that sentiment as part of this set, makes it one that is very versatile and perfect for every day cards.   Great for friendship cards, encouragement cards and those cards that are meant to brighten someone’s day!     For my first card, I started with some cream cardstock, three stamps from this set and my “Navy” Hero Arts shadow Ink.    I pre-arranged the stamps the way I wanted them to line up on my craft mat, and then used my “Fiskars Stamp Press” to easily stamp all three at the same time, keeping them arranged as they were on my mat.   One I had those done, I simple re-inked the same circle/flower design and repeated that image twice to complete the design.    I trimmed down this panel and adhered it onto some of PTI’s “Navy” cardstock.   I created a second thinner banner using Hero’s Five Line Background Stamp, an “oldie but goodie” from my stash.   I trimmed that to be the same height as my first panel and again layered it onto more Navy cardstock.  Both panels where then adhered to a “Charcoal” notecard and embellished with some Hero Arts Pearls.   It easy a fun, yet easy card to create and could be done in a variety of colors!

You make me....

That brings us to my next card, also created with the same stamp set, which I think is the perfect set for “every day” cards.    I started this time with some of Hero’s Snow layering paper, and stamped on this sweet little floral image, again using Navy Shadow Ink.  I then used a set of Nestie Circles to cut out that image, and also a second circle, one size larger, in Navy.  I adhered that image to the Navy base, which was later added to my “Stitched Banner” which I created with a favorite Lawn Fawn die set.   The banner was then added to some “Navy & White” Polka Dotted cardstock that I adhered to my Charcoal card base.  I cut two thin strips of Navy Cardstock and added those to the sides of the banner, to frame it in.    I finished this card by added two white pearls and the “Happiness” sentiment, also stamped in Navy!    This one turned out to be my favorite of the two, what do you think?

happiness...

I hope I have inspired you to try this stamp set or some of the other wonderful Hero Arts products we sell over at the a2z Scrapbooking Store.   I also want to encourage you to enter our “November Challenge”, which is an “Easy” one, as the theme isAnything Goes!!    Just be certain, that your project contains at least one main Hero Art product, as always.   One lucky winner will be drawn from all the eligible entries and will receive a $25 Gift Certificate for your shopping pleasure at the a2z Store.

So Sorry….!!

Happy Saturday —  It’s Lisa here this morning with a new project to share !  Today, I have one of those cards that tend to be a bit difficult for many of us to create, but are cards that mean so much to those who receive them!   Today, I am sharing a Sympathy card and hope that it’s one I don’t have to use for a very long time.    In my own life, I have been greatly touched with some of the very loving and encouraging cards that have been sent to me, when I have experienced a loss in my family.   To me, it’s always been very bittersweet to receive a card like this, especially one that also includes a person handwritten note, or some words that will help me to smile and cherish the memories of those we have lost from our lives!   This card was also created to fit into our theme and to provide you with more inspiration for our October Challenge.

In following with the challenge requirements, (use TWO “main” Hero Arts” products — i.e. Stamps, Stencils, Dies etc.) — the first thing I did was to pick out my products –and for this card, I chose two of Hero’s Stamp Sets – “Night and Day Flowers” along with another clear set, “Remember” which is a wonderful set of sentiments designed exactly for these type card cards.

So Sorry for a2z

Next, was to choose my colors and I chose “Purple” which I’m sure many of you already know, is my “Signature Color” — I love it and I also love that Hero Arts has an amazing array of Purple in their line!  Everything from Inks, Papers, Sprays, and Embellishments all perfect for me!     I began by stamping my floral image, directly onto some “Snow” laying paper, using my favorite of Hero’s Purple Ink – Grape Juice.  I also picked out my sentiment and stamped that on the same piece, also in the same rich purple shade.   I created my case base with more of the Snow paper and cut or a large “window” area using a Spellbinder’s Rectangle die.   I then added a piece of “deep” purple cardstock (from My Favorite Things) to the inside of my window.   The next step was to add some texture and I did that using a Panel of Vellum that I embossed with a Lifestyle Crafts Embossing Folder.  I adhered that directly to the purple base and them die cut my floral image with a Lil Inker Designs -Stitched Rectangle Die and using foam tape, added that on top of my embossed panel.  I them added purple gems to each of the flower centers and highlighted the image with a fine layer of white sparkling Glitter, by Ranger. To complete me my card, I used the “Dotted Ellements” die set to cut out my sentiment, which I added on top of my flowers.

I was very pleased with how this card turned out and especially love the wonderful flowers in the Night and Days Flowers Stamp Set.  It’s a set I have used in many ways and I like that this card is one I could re-create in a variety of colors!   I could also change it a bit by adding another of the many touching sentiments from the Remember set.   I could also easily change this to be a friendship or feminine birthday card, by simply choosing one of the many other Hero Arts Stamp sets — currently have available over at the a2z Store!

If you would like to purchase any  Hero Arts products, please head on over to the a2z Scrapbooking Store, where you can save 15% off your shopping with my special Promo Code.  All you need to do is add $25 in products to your shopping cart -(excluding shipping)- and then enter my code – LISAH15 – Once the code is entered you will automatically see the savings reflected in your  total.    Have fun shopping and don’t forget to check out the newest Hero Arts releases, as well as the latest additions to the digital line!

Thanks for stopping by today !  Wishing you all a fabulous Saturday and a wonderful weekend!

Under the Mistletoe!!

Happy Thursday everyone!  How are you doing this week?  Good I hope and I hope you are enjoying the lovely Fall Season, that we here in the U. S. are now in.   I can hardly believe that Christmas and the Holidays will be here in a matter or week — Wow is time every flying by!!     Today’s card is one that will be perfect as one of my Christmas Cards and created it to showcase a new Hero Stamp Set (Under the Mistletoe) and also to inspired you to play along in our October Challenge.    For all the details on this challenge and to upload your card, please go to the Challenge Post HERE!   You’ll also find more amazing inspiration from my Design Teammates there.

As for me,  (it’s Lisa in case you don’t know), and I have been dying to create something fun with one of my newest stamps sets, which one being from the  “Handmade for Christmas” Catalog Release and a set that has been very popular.   Happily, we have it in stock again now over at the a2z Scrapbooking Store, but if you want it order fast, as has already sold out once!!    To meet the challenge requirement, (using two Main Hero Arts Products, I chose a second stamp and this is a large cling background part of the  Hero Arts/Basic Grey  line.   It’s called “Pine Horizontals CG610”, and although we are currently out, please know that we are always happy to place special orders!   If this is a stamp you would like to purchase, please leave a comment here or fill out a request form, over at the a2z Store.

Mistletoe Love...

I started this card by taking a variety of the clear stamps and then lining them up on my craft mat, creating the design I wanted for my card.  Once I had them all lined up, I simply placed my Fiskars stamp press onto the stamps, which easily picked them up and then inked them and stamped them directly to my white background.    Using a stamp press in this way, makes it easy to pre-arrange your stamps and do the inking and stamping in one easy step.   I colored the images with Copic Markers and then added a hint of sparkle using a Wink of Stella clear marker, which we now carry at the a2z Store.   I then added some red Hero Arts Gems to each of the berries and added on finished off this section by stamping on my Sentiment, also from the “Under the Mistletoe” set.   Next, I created the card base, starting with some “Pine Green” Layering Paper.  I wanted to create a subtle background with a tone on tone look and did that using the Pine Horizontals Stamp inked in Hero’s “Forever Green Shadow Ink.   I then cut down my image and framed it using some patterned paper from Echo Park, and then added that panel directly to my stamped card base.   It was really a fun and easy card to create and I have lots of other ideas of using this same wonderful set.  I think it would look fabulous stamped in embossed in Gold or Silver on a bright red card based, or stamped in Gold on a solid white base!

While, I am here, I want to remind you that there are still a few days left to enter into one or all three of the Challenges we posted on Saturday in Celebration of World Card Making Day. You find each of the three posted HERE and each challenge has its own them and own Inlinkz Gallery.   You have until Midnight on October 12th to upload your projects have a chance to win one of the three $20 Gift Certificate prizes that will be randomly drawn from each of the entries!   You’ll also find the Design Team has shared some wonderful inspiration for each challenge and there are already some amazing entries!   Thank you to all of you who have already entered and best of luck in the Prize Drawings.

I also want to encourage any of you crafters who happen to LOVE Hero Arts products as much as we do, to consider submitting your application for our current Design Team Call.  You’ll find all the details and requirements on the call HERE and you have until October 20th to apply.   As one of the Design Team Members who has been on the team since day one, I’m so happy, proud and honored to be part of this amazing team and to also help promote the wonderful products and service that you’ll find when shopping at the a2z Scrapbooking Store.  It’s truly a pleasure to be part of this Design Team and I also really love creating with such a talented, friendly and caring group!

In closing I want to share my special thanks to each of you all kind and caring thoughts, and to also for being so supportive while I have been dealing with a brutal Fibro Flare over the past several weeks.   I feel so lucky to be here posting today and to be healing again and finding time to create, which I so LOVE and had missed terrible.  I’m so very thankful for everyone who has left a comment on my blog, sent me a nice note or left me a message on Facebook.  It’s mean so much to see how many people care!    I am most grateful to the a2z DT and our dear leader Elizabeth for being so supportive!    I’m very lucky to be on such a amazing team and so grateful for your concern, encouragement and support during these rather difficult health issues.   This team ROCKS, and Elizabeth, our “Boss Lady” is a sweetheart, in more ways than I can ever express!  Without her understanding and endearing heart, I know that I would never have been able to remain on this team!   I’m extremely grateful to her for being there for me.   Paper-crafting is truly a passion for me and often it’s very much my main form of relaxation and therapy in dealing with the chronic pain and fatigue of Fibromyalgia.   Without this in my life, I know that it would only make living with this illness even more of a challenge!    Thanks from the bottom on my heart for everything  — it means more than you know!

Warmest Wishes….

Welcome!   It’s Lisa, (ThePurplePlace),  here today and I have two new cards to share in hopes that I can inspire you to take part in this month’s “Fall or Christmas” themed challenge and also to help you with some ideas for your own Christmas or Winter cards this year.   You can link directly to the challenge from our side bar,  ——>>>>>

I love to create all my own handmade cards each year and one of them favorite themes is often snow related, even through I dread it when it’s actually bitterly cold and snowy here.  The only day I love to see a fresh new coating of snow is on Christmas morning and if that was the only day it snowed all year, that would be fine with me.  I’m a summer girl by heart, but do also very much love the Christmas spirit and season.    I also love to use what I think would be considered non-traditional Christmas colors on my cards and did that on both of these, using a mix of the lovely shades of Teal and Aqua that Hero Arts has in their wonderful ink and spray line.

I’m also excited to be sharing some of my newest Hero goodies, along with a mix of some of my Hero Stamps from previous years.  In my opinion, you can never have too many “Christmas Stamps” and of course the matching elements that go along with them.   When I saw the new combo stamp/die sets in the new “Handmade for Christmas” catalog, I knew that I they would be a perfect addition to my Christmas stash and I put them to good use right away in making these two new cards.

My first card started a with a pretty soft pool card base and I used my new “Let It Snow” Stamp n Cuts” set to cut a window directly into the front of my card.  Next, I took the matching stamp and inked it up in a Hero’s Ocean ink and carefully stamped it directly through the window to the inside of my card.  I then chose a selection of snowflakes and randomly stamped them all over my card, in shades of teal and white.   I die cut a second snowflake, stamped it in Versamark and then heat embossed it in white and used foam tape to pop that one up off my card.   To finish my card, I used a variety of Hero’s gems, pearls and snowflakes, with a few Prima Crystals to embellishthe center of each snowflake.  I really love that extra sparkle that “bling” adds to any card.

Warm Wishes for a2z 09-015.

My second card is also another fun Snowflake themed card, also created in these shades I love.  You can however change them to be any color or create with the more traditional red and green that so many of you love.   The fun part about stamping is that there are so many fabulous ink colors now available, that we can basically create with any color of the rainbow.  I have a love of Hero’s Shadow Inks and am very happy to now own every color.  I even love the wonderful little cube sets that are now available so that you can try new colors, and not necessarily have to buy the large pads, until you know you love a color!   I actually used Versamark as my ink on this next card and then heat embossed each of the snowflakes in Hero’s White Embossing powder directly onto a strip of “Snow Day Patterned Paper” from Lawn Fawn.    I finished off this card by adding some Sequins and a Prima Crystal, along with my Sentiment which is from an older Hero Arts Sentiment Set called “Holiday Sayings”.

Peace Love Joy Snowflakes a2z

I have shared links each of the products I used on my cards, below.  Most of which are available over at the a2z Scrapbooking Store.   Please feel free to use my Design Team Promo Code for any shopping you may be doing at the store.    Simply enter LISAH15 – during the checkout process to save 15% off of any orders of $25 and up (Excluding shipping).  The code will work for all products including our Exclusive Hero Arts Digital Line, the brand new “Handmade for Christmas” products, and even all the goodies currently ON SALE!  If there is something you are looking for and can NOT find it in the store, please let us know — we are happy to find it or do a special order for you.    Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to see your “Christmas and Fall” project in our Inlinkz Gallery soon.

Heartfelt Wishes….

Good Morning and Happy Saturday,

It’s Lisa, aka (ThePurplePlace), and I am very happy to be sharing another card that I hope will inspire you to take part in our “Encouragement” themed challenge. for your chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate to the a2z Scrapbooking Store!   For all the details, please click on the August Monthly Challenge link over the side-bar!   To enter your card, you’ll need to scroll down the page and look for that cute little Blue Inlinkz Frog!    It’s also hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day of August and for many that means the kiddos are already back in school or will be very soon!  I’m  one who loves Summer so it’s hard for me to see it end, but I know many of you love Fall and that change of seasons.

For my card today, I’m still very much still creating with my favorite colors and also colors that very much remind me of Summer, especially the beautiful “Pool” color I used for my card base, which I created with Hero’s fabulous layering papers.    I started this card by picking out my stamp set and it’s one that I have loved since the day I first saw it.   It’s called “Making the World a Better Place” and that alone makes me think it’s perfect for this challenge.  I also wanted to doing something fun and different so today I decided to paper-piece my flower and did that by stamping the image several times onto a variety of patterned papers, all in the teal and purple color combo.    I also used those same two patterned papers for as part of my background which always turned out to be a great way to tie all the elements together.   I matched the papers to the inks I had used on my water-colored background which was I created using Distress Inks, an acrylic block, some watercolor paper and a water mister.  I simply took the inks pads, and stamped the color directly onto my block and then misted it with water before stamping it onto watercolor paper.  The colors I used for this card are Shaded Lilac, Broken China and Evergreen Bough.   Once I had my background stamped I dried it with my heat gun and then quickly applied a second layer, using the same colors, but in a slightly different pattern.   After it was nice and dry, I stamped the flower image directly on top using Hero’s Black Ink.  I then slowly cut the pieces from the patterned papers and paper-pieced the onto my card.

IMG_0003
Next, I started my card base which I quickly created using Hero’s gorgeous “Pool” layering paper.  Then I worked on my background, using the same “Patterned Papers” I had used on my flowers.  These just happen to be two of my all time favorites and sadly are both now retired.  The purple was from Memory Box and the lovely Teal was from Stampin’ UP. Luckily, I stocked up, when I first bought them and still have my own little special stash.    I used the “Avery Elle-ments” custom Panel die set to cut the papers into these fun geometrical shapes and adhered them to my Pool card base.  The next step was adding my stamped flowere, which I first cut down a bit, using one of the fabulous Stitched Dies, from Lil’ Inker Designs.  I used foam tape to pop the image up off the card and then using another die from the Avery Elle set, I cut out a white label for my Sentiment.  I chose “Heartfelt Wishes”, which is from one of my older Hero Arts Sets, called All Occasion Messages.   I stamped it in Hero’s Grape Juice Shadow Ink, and then added under the flower to complete this card.   I really loved how using both of these colors together turned out and I’m sure it’s a combination I will use again!

I hope that I have inspired you to create an “Encouragement” themed project and submit it to the challenge before it ends at midnight tomorrow.   Be sure that your entry includes at least ONE Hero Arts product.   One lucky winner will win a $25.00 gift certificate to the a2z Scrapbooking Supply Store!  Woohoo!  In the meantime, if you are interested in doing some shopping now, please feel free to use my Design Team Promo Code – LISAH15 – which will save you 15% on your entire order of $25.00 and up (excluding shipping).   We are very happy to have several new Christmas products in from the latest release and will continue to add more and re-stock, what has already sold out.

Friends!!

Hello,

It’s Lisa, (ThePurplePlace) here today to share another new card.  I  think this is one of those cards that is perfect to send to say hello, let someone know they’ve been on your mind or simply to tell someone that they’ve are a dear friend.    A true piece of “Happy Mail”, and a card that makes you smile when you open it and find out that one of your friends sent it out of the blue!   I love it when I receive those kind of cards, and I also enjoy sending them and try to do that often with cards that I have created.    It also fits perfectly in our August challenge, where our theme this month is “Encouragement”!   In addition to our challenge, I was also inspired to create this card as part of the “Stretch Your Stamps 2” Class that I’ve been taking over at the Online Card Classroom.   If you are one of my regular blog followers, you already know that I love learning all kinds of new things, pretty much anything that has to do with card-making and for me the best and easiest way to do that is to take classes.   I know many of you are also students there, and I hope this will also inspire you to create a projects that not only work great for class, but also will be perfect for our Challenge.  Just think, you could be the lucky winnter and win a $25 Gift Certificate to the a2z Scrapbooking Store!   How fun would that be!!

That was pretty much what was on my mind, when I hit my desk Monday afternoon.  I wanted to make another “Encouragement” card to share here on the a2z Scrapbooking Blog and also to use a fun combination of stamps, including some of my Hero Stamps along with some really cool “graphic” stamps, since those are the stamps we are now working with in class!   I love it whenever I can combine themes and techniques and make projects that can be used in a variety of ways!

I started this card by picking out my stamps sets, and chose Hero’s “You and Me Frame Set – CL590” set along with a very cool graphic set from My Favorite Things, called Trendy Triangles.  The next step was to come up with my card design and and I decided to pick my colors and chose – Red, White and Black.    I started by stamping the “Friends” Frame stamp in Hero’s Royal Red Ink and then put that aside, which I worked on the rest of my card.  I then masked off a section of my card front and using the same Royal Red Ink and a variety of the same “triangles” I stamped in a fun little random pattern.  I then cut two black strips from Hero’s Black Layering Paper and added those to edges where each of the triangles ended.  That left with the plenty of room for my sentiment, which I first “hand cut” from the white cardstock and layered onto a Piece of Hero’s Red Layering Paper, which I also used to create my card base!  All I had left to do was add to little red pearls and my card was done.   You’ll find links to all of the products I used in the Inlinkz below.

Friend For SYS2Please feel free to head on over to the a2z Scrapbooking Store, where you’ll find a wonderful variety of other Hero Products, in addition to those I used today.   I’m also sharing my Design Team Promo Code – LISAH15, which will save you 15% off any order of $25.00 and up (excluding shipping).  You can use the code as often as you want, as long as each order meets the requirements.  Don’t forget to check out the SALES section and our bring new “Digital Line“.   The Hero Arts Stamp Set,  that I used for this card, is currently on SALE for only $8.00 and is now retired!  If you want it, buy it now before they are all gone!   And if you do buy it, please let me know what you’ll be using it for, so I can come to you for more ideas!!   I think it would also be great to use for gift tags.    I will look forward to see your project and also viewing all the projects entered into this month’s  Encouragement Themed Challenge.  To enter your project, click HERE, scroll down towards the bottom of the post and  look for the little “Blue Froggy”.   Click on him and follow the instructions to add your creation to the challenge collection!   There is also a direct link to the August challenge on our side bar!!

Thinking of you!!

Hi, it’s Lisa, (ThePurplePlace), here today to provide you with some more inspiration for this month’s challenge here on the a2z Scrapbooking Blog.   Our theme for the month of August is “Encouragement” and those are the wonderful type of cards that really help to make someone smile, share a hug or even to say hello and let them know you are thinking of them, which is what I chose to so for my card today.

For my card I started with a snow card-base and created a a background, using Hero’s “Everything Flowers” Background Stamp, which I inked up with Versamark and then stamped directly onto a piece of Pool Layering Paper.  I then heat embossed that with Hero’s White embossing powder and using a stitched die to cut it down to the size I wanted for my card.  I then chose another of my favorite Hero stamps, “Night and Day Flowers” and also stamped that one in Versamark and again heat embossed it in white.  I then used the same Stitched dies, and cut out that layer, from the same color layering paper and created a matching mat from more Snow Layering paper.   I added white pearls to the center of each flower and adhered that onto the white mat.  That piece was then added with foam take to the background to give it extra dimension. For my sentiment if chose the “All Occasions Messages” set and stamped my message in Hero’s Mid-tone Soft Pool shadow ink, which matches perfectly with the layering paper.  I added my Sentiment, again using foam tape and had my card completed.

Thinking...
