Hero Arts Water Lilies Thinking of you

Hi everyone! Leslie here to share an a2z Scrapbooking DT inspiration project with you today, a pretty CAS friendship card using the Hero Arts Color Layering Water Lilies stamp set, Hero Arts Color Layering Water Lilies Frame CutsVersamark, and Hero Arts Detail Black Embossing Powder.

Before I get to my project details, quite a few of the Hero Arts color layering stamp sets have sold out recently in the a2z Scrapbooking store and unfortunately this was one of them. I work ahead and had this card made prior to this stamp set selling out, but I have good news – you can special order it at no extra cost when you order your other Hero Arts stamps from a2Z Scrapbooking!

I stamped the water lily in shades of pink/pinkish-red and several lily pads in shades of green, and cut them all out with the coordinating frame cuts dies. I cut a scalloped frame from gingham paper to go around the outside of the opening matching the colors of ink used to stamp the water lily.

I adhered several lily pads beneath the water lily (which I popped up on foam pads) inside the opening, along with several sequins, and a couple lily pads on the front. I heat embossed the sentiment in black embossing powder.

Scrappy hugs!

Thinking of You

thinking of you

I have always loved the look that the layered stamps create. Especially the flowers!

I used the Hero Arts Layering Hibiscus stamp along with the Hello Stamp and Die Cut set to create this nice thinking of you card.

I didn’t want to use traditional vibrant colors, so instead I used the Hero Arts Charcoal Granite ink and the Intense Black to create the flowers.  After I stamped out the flowers, I used peeled paint Distress Oxide to stamp out the leaf, along with my intense black ink.

thinking of you 1

I used the hello die to cut out two  green “hello” sentiments and glued them together using Multi Medium Gloss.  I then glued it onto my white card over the flowers.  I added some washi tape and cut out my panel using a stitched die.

I matted the floral card base onto some green card stock, then matted that onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ card base. I added some Ebony Black and Apple Green Nuvo drops for added texture and interest.

Water Lilies with Hero Arts

Aloha and happy Monday friends!  Have you seen the newest a2z Scrapbooking challenge: Getting to Know You?  Some of my favorite Hero Arts stamp sets are the Color Layering ones and today I’m playing with the Color Layering Water Lilies and matching dies.

Water Lilies with Hero Arts

My favorite part of color layering stamps is the realistic and dimensional looks you get with just a few ink colors!  The water lily is stamped in Hero Arts Shadow ink Passion Flower (as the first/lightest layer), then Hero Arts Bold inks in Orchid and Mulled Wine (the darkest layer).  For the lily pads I used Hero Arts Bold inks in Green Apple and Moss.

I die cut the stamped images out and adhered them to a panel die cut with Avery Elle’s Wonky Stitched rectangles (inked with Distress Oxides in Fossilized Amber and Broken China for a fun background)  and adhered to a Hero Arts Floral Mixed Folded Cards. These notecards match perfectly with the ink colors!

I hope this inspires you to join our challenge for a chance to win $25 to a2z Scrapbooking store!

Mahalo for stopping by!

Hero Arts You’re So Lovely Circular Card

Hi friends – welcome back to another fun layered card. Once again, I didn’t do the ‘typical’ layering with lots of different papers and such; instead, I made this fun circular card using different heights/layers. 😀 Does that count?

I used the gorgeous Hero Arts You’re So Lovely flowers which I adore, stamped 2nd generation in red and purple, then colored with Copics. I die cut all the circles at once then mounted the 2 and 4th (from the outside) circles with foam tape for fun dimension. I then added some tiny glue dots and once dry, used rose gold foil for accents. The main panel is adhered to a circular card base which opens so you can include your message.

Watercolor Arrows

The December Challenge is all about Watercolors … so I decided to play with my Hero Arts Watercolor Wheel and the BasicGrey Two Way Arrows Stencil.  I started by cutting a piece of Watercolor Paper in half, and taped down my stencil on all four sides (I tape it to my work surface as well to minimize movement).  Look at all of the colors you get in the Watercolor Wheel.

For my first attempt (on the right), I used two shades of blue paint and as little water as possible (to try to minimize the paint running under the stencil).  It worked better to get the paint on the end of the paint brush and sort of *pounce* it into the paper.  For my second piece (on the left), I alternated between blue and red paint to produce a more gradient color effect.  One trick for getting the stencil image possible is to use your heat gun to dry the paint before removing the stencil from your paper..  You can also dab any remaining wet spots with a paper towel.

Since the lines on my blue stenciled design were a bit more crisp, I went with an over-all graphic design inspired by this Spring Outfit by Balmain at the Runway Inspired Challenge.

_MON1106

I used lots of straight lines and a bold straight-font sentiment from Hero Arts Yay!

AZ120514-1wm

Did you notice that the corner on the top right of my second attempt got a bit messy? … I call that an *embellishment opportunity*.

az120514-2wm

I lined-up scraps of purple paper with the the lines in the stencil, and then trimmed the edges into triangles.  Since this stenciled watercolor had a softer feel, I used a more flowy font from Messages with Flourishes.

Remember how fun playing with watercolors was in grade school? … well it’s still just as much fun as an adult.  I can’t wait to see what you create for our December Challenge.

As always, you can use Coupon Code STEPH15 for 15% off your order of $25.00 or more (before tax and shipping) in the a2z Store.

Friends!!

Hello,

It’s Lisa, (ThePurplePlace) here today to share another new card.  I  think this is one of those cards that is perfect to send to say hello, let someone know they’ve been on your mind or simply to tell someone that they’ve are a dear friend.    A true piece of “Happy Mail”, and a card that makes you smile when you open it and find out that one of your friends sent it out of the blue!   I love it when I receive those kind of cards, and I also enjoy sending them and try to do that often with cards that I have created.    It also fits perfectly in our August challenge, where our theme this month is “Encouragement”!   In addition to our challenge, I was also inspired to create this card as part of the “Stretch Your Stamps 2” Class that I’ve been taking over at the Online Card Classroom.   If you are one of my regular blog followers, you already know that I love learning all kinds of new things, pretty much anything that has to do with card-making and for me the best and easiest way to do that is to take classes.   I know many of you are also students there, and I hope this will also inspire you to create a projects that not only work great for class, but also will be perfect for our Challenge.  Just think, you could be the lucky winnter and win a $25 Gift Certificate to the a2z Scrapbooking Store!   How fun would that be!!

That was pretty much what was on my mind, when I hit my desk Monday afternoon.  I wanted to make another “Encouragement” card to share here on the a2z Scrapbooking Blog and also to use a fun combination of stamps, including some of my Hero Stamps along with some really cool “graphic” stamps, since those are the stamps we are now working with in class!   I love it whenever I can combine themes and techniques and make projects that can be used in a variety of ways!

I started this card by picking out my stamps sets, and chose Hero’s “You and Me Frame Set – CL590” set along with a very cool graphic set from My Favorite Things, called Trendy Triangles.  The next step was to come up with my card design and and I decided to pick my colors and chose – Red, White and Black.    I started by stamping the “Friends” Frame stamp in Hero’s Royal Red Ink and then put that aside, which I worked on the rest of my card.  I then masked off a section of my card front and using the same Royal Red Ink and a variety of the same “triangles” I stamped in a fun little random pattern.  I then cut two black strips from Hero’s Black Layering Paper and added those to edges where each of the triangles ended.  That left with the plenty of room for my sentiment, which I first “hand cut” from the white cardstock and layered onto a Piece of Hero’s Red Layering Paper, which I also used to create my card base!  All I had left to do was add to little red pearls and my card was done.   You’ll find links to all of the products I used in the Inlinkz below.

Friend For SYS2Please feel free to head on over to the a2z Scrapbooking Store, where you’ll find a wonderful variety of other Hero Products, in addition to those I used today.   I’m also sharing my Design Team Promo Code – LISAH15, which will save you 15% off any order of $25.00 and up (excluding shipping).  You can use the code as often as you want, as long as each order meets the requirements.  Don’t forget to check out the SALES section and our bring new “Digital Line“.   The Hero Arts Stamp Set,  that I used for this card, is currently on SALE for only $8.00 and is now retired!  If you want it, buy it now before they are all gone!   And if you do buy it, please let me know what you’ll be using it for, so I can come to you for more ideas!!   I think it would also be great to use for gift tags.    I will look forward to see your project and also viewing all the projects entered into this month’s  Encouragement Themed Challenge.  To enter your project, click HERE, scroll down towards the bottom of the post and  look for the little “Blue Froggy”.   Click on him and follow the instructions to add your creation to the challenge collection!   There is also a direct link to the August challenge on our side bar!!

Thinking of you!!

Hi, it’s Lisa, (ThePurplePlace), here today to provide you with some more inspiration for this month’s challenge here on the a2z Scrapbooking Blog.   Our theme for the month of August is “Encouragement” and those are the wonderful type of cards that really help to make someone smile, share a hug or even to say hello and let them know you are thinking of them, which is what I chose to so for my card today.

For my card I started with a snow card-base and created a a background, using Hero’s “Everything Flowers” Background Stamp, which I inked up with Versamark and then stamped directly onto a piece of Pool Layering Paper.  I then heat embossed that with Hero’s White embossing powder and using a stitched die to cut it down to the size I wanted for my card.  I then chose another of my favorite Hero stamps, “Night and Day Flowers” and also stamped that one in Versamark and again heat embossed it in white.  I then used the same Stitched dies, and cut out that layer, from the same color layering paper and created a matching mat from more Snow Layering paper.   I added white pearls to the center of each flower and adhered that onto the white mat.  That piece was then added with foam take to the background to give it extra dimension. For my sentiment if chose the “All Occasions Messages” set and stamped my message in Hero’s Mid-tone Soft Pool shadow ink, which matches perfectly with the layering paper.  I added my Sentiment, again using foam tape and had my card completed.

Thinking...
