challengebadgefeb19-2

The challenge this month at a2z Scrapbooking is this amazing Mood board.  I was so inspired by this board I now have multiple projects going on all around my craft room – the colors lend themselves to loads of projects, for all kinds of cards, not just Valentine’s day!

I received this die in a mystery box I purchased and I’ve been waiting for the right time to use it and I think this was the perfect time!  I hope you find the Mood Board as inspiring as I did and you enter a project into the February a2z Scrapbooking challenge.  Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Alcohol Inks on Acetate Cards

Hi, friends, it’s Chark here today with a fun and colorful technique that I enjoy creating. I used Tim Holtz alcohol inks in bottles to ink up the Hero Arts clear acetate notecards. I dripped the inks onto the cards without using an applicator or heat tool to dry and just let the ink do whatever it wanted…that’s the fun part!

After they dried, I trimmed the panels down, used the Hero Arts So Sorry stamp and cut hearts and then adhered the panels to a white notecard and music paper I had.

On this card, I wrote the words “love” and “you” on the card in a loopy, loose way. You could use some writing stamps or washi tape, but I wanted to try some handwriting.

On this card, I used the large heart die cut, and backed it with some music paper I had. You could use a song that means something to your valentine, but in this case, I used what I had and left out any lyrics.

These are fun to make, and I have several more card panels that are all dripped and painted and ready to go for another project. Keep in mind that alcohol inks stain, so don’t get too wild when you’re using them 🙂

And also the silver or gold alcohol inks are less translucent than the colors, so use them sparingly with the colors, as they tend to reverse the stained glass effect.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you’ll enter our February challenge here, and maybe you’ll win the $25 gift code to the store!

Hero Arts – Romeo and Juliet

Hello everyone,

It’s Donna and the challenge for this month is “Anything Goes”.  Have you joined in on the fun?  I hope you will take time, there is still time.  You can link your project here. Please be sure that your project contains at least ONE main HERO ART Product as the focal element!

I love challenges that are “anything goes”, you can test your imagination! As much as I enjoy making Christmas Cards and Coffee Cards, I love making Valentine Cards. I love the colors of pink, red and black together. Here is my card for inspiration:

Closer look at the image:romeo-and-juliet2

I am using the new Hero Arts Romeo and Juliet set.  Here is how I put my card together:

  1.  My card is an A2 card, and the second layer measures 4 x 5 1/4,
  2. I embossed the second layer with the rose embossing folder,
  3. I die cut my hearts using the new Hero Arts Nesting Hearts Infinity dies, I took the second and third largest heart dies and centered them on some black card stock and die cut them out,
  4. I then die cut the third heart again with the light pink paper,
  5. I then stamped the girl and boy image with Hero Arts intense black ink,
  6. I took a green and red marker and colored the rose stamp and placed it in the boy’s hand to look like he was giving it to his girlfriend,
  7. I used my tape runner and added the black and pink hearts to my card,
  8. I then stamped the sentiment from the Hero Arts Floral Heart Stamp and Cut with versamark and used the Hero Arts white embossing powder and heat set it,
  9. I die cut the sentiment and used foam tape to pop the image on my card,
  10. I finished my card by adding some Hero Arts Sparkle Gem hearts to my card.

If you like any of the products I used on my card, please stop over at the a2z Scrapbooking Esty store. You can also use the code “Donna15” to receive 15% off of a $25.00 order.

Valentine – Hero Arts Floral Heart Stamp & Cut

Hello everyone!

It’s Donna here, Happy New Year’s, I wish all of you good health, love and a crafty year!   There is a new challenge that I hope you will play along, the Challenge is “anything goes”.  You can link your project here.  Please be sure that your project contains at least ONE main HERO ARTS Product as the focal element!

anything-goesI am using the cute Hero Arts “Floral Heart Stamp & Cut.  I used some red glitter paper to cut the die out.  I then die cut the “Valentine” from the Hero Arts “Valentine Message and Three Hearts Fancy Dies”.  I used liquid glue to adhere the “Valentine” to the heart die.  I then added some glossy accent to make the “Valentine” stand out.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts “Floral Heart Stamp & Cut” set.  I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and added the Hero Arts White Embossing Powder and heated it with a hot glue gun.  I finished my card off by adding some Hero Arts rhinestones and twine.

Valentine’s Day is coming soon – so here’s card to inspire you!!

First I stamped the sentiment, embossed and die cut. Then sponged on some pink ink to coordinate with the paper. Had the paper I used for the background in my stash for ages. Die cut the hearts and added sending lovesome Versamark around the edges – added the embossing powder and brushed some of it off so it would look more random. The little heart on the sentiment was also embossed and added over the flower that’s on the stamp.

The sentiment tag was popped up on some foam tape and then the hearts layered and tucked in behind. Added some clear gemstones and done.

You & Me

Valentines are so much fun to make & you’ll need to get them in the mail before you know it! For this card I decided to go with more of a vintage style by inking & distressing edges.  I started by pulling a panel of watercolor paper through Wet Cement ink spritzed with water on an acrylic block.  I dried it with my heat gun & then repeated the process with some Soft Pool ink.

Jan a2z 2

The beautiful Hero Arts heart was stamped 4 times in Pale Tomato overlapping the points in the middle of the panel.  I sponged more ink around the edges & distressed them with my scissors.  I added a bit of Stickles for some sparkle.  The sentiment was stamped in Wet Cement, die cut into a circle, sponged with the inks & again distressed with scissors.  The panel was attached to a card sponged with Wet Cement & Soft Pool.  The sentiment was matted with another die cut circle inked in Wet Cement before mounting it to the center with foam tape.  “Big Hugs” is another sentiment in the set & would work great to make a card for a friend.  Both stamps are new to me. Why not grab some of your new stamps or try a new technique & join our January challenge?  You can use my discount code, GRETA15, to get 15% off a minimum $25 purchase in the a2z store.  The sentiment is from a great set on sale for only $8.
