Masculine Card with Vintage Travel

A friend’s dad recently had a card shower for his 90th birthday—and he looks fab! I decided to make a vintage car card…love this image, it’s detailed and shaded but you can still hand-color parts of it. So I broke out the Prismacolor pencils and went to town…then I fussy cut the car.

I layered maroon cardstock with the woodgrain vellum and gold washi and gold paper for the sentiment. I die cut the vellum with a stitched rectangle die for a little extra texture. The woodgrain vellum is nice and thick for vellum, with a ton of texture and it takes color from inks well too. I’ve stenciled on top with Distress inks and it works great!

The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Birthday Messages set. It’s a great versatile stamp set and you can custom order it at no extra cost…and also get 15% off your cart of $25 or more when you use my coupon code below!

Here’s a close-up so you can see the vellum texture…yummy, huh? And it comes out the package all ready to use.

Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Coffee Hopping

So excited to be joining in the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop as a sponsor again! Today I’ve got a Hero Arts project for you that uses Digi stamps and some snarky coffee sentiments I typed out in a typewriter font (Gungsuh in my program).

The background for the top left card was made with ink cubes pressed onto cardstock and overlapped. The background for the lower right card was made by repeating the coffee cup image from Caffeine Fix digital stamps and the women are both from the digital Make Your Own Sewing Fashion kit.

To make them summery, I dressed them (with Prismacolor pencils) in red, white and blue. I added rhinestones to both cards and added a little coffee cup to the lady on the left. It’s the same size as the background cups. I have another up on my blog because I couldn’t stop making these little Anne Taintor-inspired cards.

a2z Scrapbooking was founded to help support charities for people with Celiac disease and those with Behcet’s disease. The employees are all volunteers so that every purchase you make means the most money for the charities a2z Scrapbooking supports. One of our favorites to support is Camp Gluten Freedom for children.

Thanks for stopping by and for supporting a2z Scrapbooking Supplies! Happy hopping!

Hero Arts Vintage Christmas Two Ways

Hi, friends, Chark here today with the Hero Arts Vintage Christmas Wishes stamps and dies. I used traditional colors on this first card. I added some Diamond Stickles to my snowman to make him sparkle, just like real snow sparkles in the sun…and you can see that in the close-up.

For the second version of the snowman in the woods, I used fun colors and sparkly gems for the snowflakes. I made this with an acetate card and affixed the snowman and snowflakes to the outside of the acetate, with the rest of the scene mounted on a pink card inside the acetate card. In the close-up, you can see the layers.

I thought of these fun colors because of a book I had when I was a kid, it was called The Littlest Snowman and he eats ice cream and then lets the wind take him up so he can “rain down” colorful snow on the village. It was the 70s, we didn’t have too many normal kid books 🙂

Vintage Travel Card

Hi, friends, Chark here today with a Vintage Travel digi card. I downloaded the instant stamps and then printed out this fantastic vintage car on kraft paper. I colored it with white, red and black Prismacolor pencils. Then I added a die cut hello in red and outlined it in white gel pen. I die cut it with a stitched frame and adhered it to a white card base.

Easy, fast and fun to make. Now I’m ready for my next nephew’s birthday…and yes, most of my nephews are actually adults, which I do not care for–if they are old, what does that make me?! 🙂

Have you tried a digi kit? We have the exclusive rights to the Hero Arts digital catalog at a2z and it’s so easy to open and print them, you ought to take a look here if you haven’t yet. The other great thing? Instant access! No shipping!

Hope you’ll join in our monthly challenge and that you’ll check us out on TwitterInstagramPinterest, and Facebook so you won’t miss out on any special sales, etc!

Happy Tuesday!

Sew Stylish!

Hi Crafty friends, Amy here, to share with you how to dress up your digital Images with a little distressing, ink and embellies from your stash.

Sew Stylish

I used  images from the Hero Arts Make Your Own DK016 and Hero Arts Sew Crafty DK027 Digital sets. These sets are both jam packed with crafty goodness! So much to use and work with.

I printed the Stylish Ladies from the Hero Arts Make Your Own DK016  set in Sepia onto white cardstock and trimmed around the image and distressed the edges using the Tim Holtz Paper Distressing Tool and then inking the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I adhered this to a piece of scrap from my stash that looked like fabric to me and distress the edges of that too. Both pieces were mounted onto Kraft cardstock cut to 4.24×5.5′ and made into a top fold card.

I then used a Chipboard Dressform I had in my stash and covered it in Gesso and then brushed on some “Scarab Beetle” Twinkling H20’s which lends a vintage feel and color to it. Some Ivory Mesh and Rose Ribbon and gold pearls from my stash finish it off.

Sew Stylish Dressform

Next I printed the a sentiment to tie my theme all together from the Hero Arts Make Your Own DK016 set and mounted inked the edges with the Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I printed and cut out a spool of thread from the Hero Arts Sew Crafty DK027 set which I colored in with my Spectrum Noir Markers.

There you have it, a shabby chic card made using Hero Arts Digital Images, a little distressing and some embellies from your stash!

VINTAGE BUTTERFLY

Since we’re still on the challenge of coloring, I did a little watercolor background for my card today and then did some more coloring on the butterfly.  The Nineteenth Century Script was stamped in distress antique linen, the ferns from Stamp Your Own Plant in distress peeled paint and shabby shutters, and the little postmark and clock face in distress gathering twigs.  The butterfly was colored with Memento markers – desert sand, new sprout and bahama blue.

vintage butterflyThe Color It In challenge lasts all of March so get out your favorite choice for coloring and enter – and maybe win a $25 gift certificate to get some goodies from a2z Scrapbooking.  You can use Coupon Code BETTY15 for 15% off your order of $25.00 or more (before tax and shipping) at the a2z store.  a2z has just received the 2015 Hero Arts release so you can get your new “wants” right now at a discount!!  Did you know that we are on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook?.  Follow us on these different social media outlets so you won’t miss out on any fun promotions!
